I just took my wife's car in-a 2007 Lexus rx400H-that was making a grinding noise when moving. Just got a call from them saying it's the passenger side bearings that's causing a wobble and scraping the rotor. He showed me the ground down rotors so I knew he wasn't pulling my leg. Also said that he'd advised replacing the driver's side as well while they're in there as bearings can suddenly fail. I took him at his word and said, "Sure...go ahead." I admire those that can DIY their vehicles but at my age, I hate working on cars. Besides, I'm supporting my local mechanic. And very cool that you get your son involved-I admire that! Thanks for the video!

Did you find a lot of rust built up inside the exhaust manifolds? I just winterized my 94 Sport Nautique for the first time, and it had a ton of built up rust chunks come out of the manifold drain. I flushed it out a lot of water to get rid of all the build up.

Do you know if the side of the upholstery for a 1985 Nautique 2001 is attached in the same manner as the '86 As shown in your video???

Anyone out there wondering the inner is a Set A18 National Bearing and the outer is a Set A12 National bearing. Not sure of the seal number. Went through hoops at Autozone because they didnt know how to find the right part. After they ordered wrong bearing twice i finally went somewhere else and got the corrected ones. Hope this helps some. I did the 15 pounds torque and turned the hub and set to 30 and backed it off like manual shows. I just felt it was still loose so i set torque wrench to 20 and set it as that. Not tight nor loose. I felt comfortable with it.

ski nautiqe? terrible lol i have 3 malibu skiers. all have nice 2 axle trailers. new engine new stringers interior and the cost of a new ski boat is over 100 grand and they do not come closed bow. i paid from 3500 to 5500 for them. i love them a great inboard. look it is safer and more fun than a new one. i take the ski poles out. since i do not use them for skiing. new bimini tops new interiors i think maybe i had like including purchase price in one around 10 grand. i like playing with them. right now i am putting a 700 hp blown small block in one, had to cut a hole in the top of the engine cover but damn it sound good and is fun on the lakes. i just cruise around.

Well, damn. This was awhile ago but new to me... welcome to the club. Sounds like my life. I've got an 84 nautique for free. I know it has a good engine, because I helped install it from the crate... 12 years ago. Since? It run maybe 2 hours. BUT... buddy moved out of state, left it to me. Came over to get it and no one pulled the plug. It was full to the transom with water. We'll see what happens this winter!

My son and I just finishing a ‘78 Stars & Stripes. But we had to replace stringers too. We kept the fiberglass for stringers in place, just cut the top off, the used seacast and poured it in. That stuff is great. Also used coosa board for decking. Should be good for more than another 45 years. We’ve owned it since the 80’s. My son wanted to keep and restore it because he has so many memories growing up being pulled by that boat. 351 is amazing.

We had a 79 ski nautique that my parents had when i was born in the 90's and we bought a 94 sport when i was about 10. We got rid of the 79 and my dad found it 15 years later at a consignment dealer. It was in really rough shape because it sat outside and he wanted 5k for it. I went and looked at it and all the freeze plugs were out and every summer I'd have the dealer call the guy and try to buy it. After about 4 years i finally talked him down to 2k and i was gonna pull the cash out and the dealer called me and told me that he didn't have the title so they couldn't sell it. There was a bunch of old paper work when we owned it that i wish i would have kept. Anyways it's always cool seeing someone restore them! I bought another 79 ski and my dad has a 83 ski and my older brother has a 2002 super Air. Nautiques are awesome boats!

Shouldn’t do your fiberglass like that you’re just carrying around a big ass mess. Put your resin on where you’re gonna put your fiberglass mat then put your fiberglass mat on it and then add a top layer of resin to it by rolling it in otherwise you’re just making a freaking mess everywhere.

The shaft coupling that has the square head bolts you tightened needs to be safety wired. That's why they have the hole drilled in the head of the bolt.
