Thank you Titus. Your self-awareness and determination is impressive and enviable. It is all too easy to easy to allow misfortunes to push one into a state where everything spirals out of control. As ever you are an inspiration. May your stress be lessened soon. I send good wishes.

The painting is beautiful and quiet. I love the white bare branches. I appreciate that you show your process in real time, unhurried, and that there is no background music. It captures the peace of the studio... with the sound of the water when you wash your brush....

"Press the button", that is so true. I've tried performing "rituals" by repeating patterns that have brought me there, I've tried music, podcasts, cartoons, candles etc. but it seems like the more i plan for and expect flow the less it comes. It only comes when I'm completely absorbed in the task and the moment. That was so simply profound, thank you again Titus.

Another great meditative session. Halfway thru I picked up a portrait drawing (graphite) that I have been struggling with for some time and settled into the "flow" you described. In doing so I was able to overcome whatever issues I had earlier and finished a satisfactory block in. Unfortunately this resulted in my missing at least half of your painting process. So, I have to go back and watch it all. Thanks again for inviting us into your studio!

I'm sorry to hear about your van Titus. It's important. Just been doing a bit of oiling out to keep myself busy after a few setbacks and an unexpected garage bill ! There'll be a good day round the corner.

This is amazing. You paint a horse, I ride my horses. But in common is this flow. How does it come? For you it is the painting. For me, it is, quite simply, sitting in the saddle. I step up on the mounting block, swing my leg over the back of the horse, and step into the arena; and the world disappears, it is me, my horse, and the flow!

In combat sports as well as combat video games there’s an idea where flow is the intersection between speed and good decision making. But specifically it does not mean optimal or even ideal decision making, but simply something that feels good to do in a given situation. The element of speed plays a role in how you wait until the last possible minute to make that decision so that you act with absolute situational awareness and remove barriers of doubt

This is a really good advice, one that I know I can take in everything I do and just stop the madness in my head and create one moment at a time. I love this painting. How many times have you created a painting with this statue? I have seen many in your books and in your videos. It seems to be your signature subject. I believe I have seen a glimpse of that statue in one of the recent Batman movies, the one with Robert Pattinson. I could be mistaken, but I think I have seen it there in a fraction of a second and seeing it light me up as I had seen it in so many of your paintings. Awesome video once again. Thank you for sharing your incredible art and knowledge with the world. It is my favorite channel to go to when I need to just put away the stress of the week and just dive into art. Have a great end of week, start of the weekend. And see you soon.

Actually, the reason why I started painting again, after like twenty years, was because in watercolour, I could finish the painting relatively fast. And that gave me motivation to continue getting better at it. Seeing the results. But at the same time, I understand, that the need to produce results for the time investment is what destroys the enjoyment, the flow. Thanks for your meditation on this topic. I will try to slow (and calm) down.

Hmmm, I'm jealous that you can find flow so easily... For me, painting is a way to relieve stress, absolutely. But flow... I only get there sometimes and it is a fickle thing. My first flow experiences were with sports, nowadays still also sports but now also sometimes with painting. I read a book about flow many years ago, as I was interested in it because it is such an incredible feeling. To be honest, for me there is nothing better than flow. It is the non-plus-ultra. You can have all the sex, drugs and rock& roll you want, just give me some flow! The state where the chatter of the mind falls away, the body just 'does' and in your head you can nearly step back and as a third person watch what is going on. A heightened state of awareness where your performance is at it's peak. Alas also something that for me is very difficult to get to. Anyway, the book mentioned that flow only occurs when you are doing something that requires your full concentration, is sufficiently (but not too) challenging and is something that you have put enough time into to be able to let your body and mind 'do their thing'. ...and I've lost my point, LOL [facepalm and shakes head]. Thanks for the vid and I hope things get better stresswise.

@@AbiNomac i responded because your message seemed entitled, as the following message does. Imo- maybe your in need of paying for your videos on patreon, I know he has lessons there, as well as other artists who wish to import all their years of training and experience for others to learn from(for a price, because there is alot of effort put into them as well as the knowledge) Otherwise, it's more a style choice. And I'd recommend placing those demands on yourself as you continue to find the sources you seek. Good luck to you! I myself pay for skillshare. .

@@AbiNomac I have watched Titus since he started his channel. I love watching him and we are not all having to take in a totorrial type video like everyone else. I love the silence and love his comments. I watch all his videos 2 to 3 times. I learn by watching and paying attention. It's much better than someone up there telling you what to do and do it this way because the other guy has it wrong and on and on.
