I’m from Spain. I’ve study English since 2019 at Official Language School in my town to get b2 English certificate. In this course, I have a great English teacher because his pedagogical methods encourage us to improve our different skills; however, he is very demanding too. He puts a lot of effort into grammar and pronunciation. I recognise that it’s important to adopt positive mental attitudes, because studying English is a large journey, although it’s sometimes difficult. In spite of this, I’ve done some significant progress since I’ve started to study English, especially in my listening skills. When I started listening to podcast during the COVID Pandemic, it was difficult to understand the contents of episodes. Nowadays I can listen to them more easily than in the past. I know that one of my biggest difficulties is my speaking, but I understand that I need to improve my grammar, and my reading and writing skills. For this reason, I've to start new habits. Firstly, I usually listen several podcast just like you. My proposal is to write feed-back once a week. Secondly, to improve my speaking, my classmates and I are going to start an English meetup. I’ve also started to talk myself out loud. On the other side, my English teacher has recommended us to listen BBC's 6 Minute English. And after listening, I want to repeat out loud too Finally, to improve my reading skills I’m going to try to read English book 10 minutes a day. I really enjoy when you telling us stories of your daily routine, for instance I loved the episode on another podcast called “Into the story” when you told your experience about your “mission in Paris”. Thank you very much for your effort and work Best wishes from Spain.

It’s an amazing discovery for me. I am proud of myself and thank you so much for your work. I have been learning English for a year and sometimes I lose motivation, but every time you inspire me. I am from Ukraine and we are having a very difficult time now. But you make me smile and always remind me to keep going. To be honest, Luke has made me feel less pain with those podcasts and I stared to take more seriously english. In the past, I found it very hard to understand british accent, but now it is easier. Now, my goal is to improve my grammar and I am working on it while I also improve my listesting. For a very long time, I used to learn English through reading. Then I got a smartphone and listened to a great variety of topics. I had the chance to meet an English lady wishing to learn my own language, so we are chatting on the phone half English, half French and we only correct our mistakes in the end not to hinder the flow. It gave me such confidence that now I'm learning Italian and German. It was a long journey but every path had its reward. I wish all the best to you, your loved ones and everybody out there🎉

Hi Luke, happy new year for you and your family. I am Alessandra from Brazil. I am a ninja and didn’t become a skeleton after listening this podcast, which was amazing. On the contrary, it motivated me to write to you for the first time since I’ve started to listen to you in 2018 or 2019. After discovering you I listened to many of the old episodes, but, unfortunately, I haven’t listened all of them, yet. Nowadays, I am following you on the KZbin, although, I usually just listen and not watch. This one was an exception. I really enjoy hearing your stories even the rambling episodes, which seems to connect more you and your audience. I loved the episode about the birth of your son and many others, such as that about the new Beatles’ song. Your tips are great and this year I want to use, at least, some of them. I am trying to overcome the intermediate plateau and your efforts to learn French are a source of inspiration for me. Your pronunciation is great and I dare say that I can understand around 90% of what you say. I want to improve my write and pronunciation skills, so I need to practice more. Now, I am going to apply for the Celta course in my country, because I want to become an English teacher here. Many of your episodes about learning process with different guests inspired me and also the episodes that explain this kind of stuff. Anyway, thank you for this lovely podcast and for being a human being so cool. Sometimes, I felt as if you were a close and funny friend of mine. Once again, I wish you a great year full of health, peace, love and prosperity. By the way, the top of your son’s head is beautiful. 😊

Hello ,Luke Isabell from Korea. First time in New Year so I would say Happy New Year!! Last November I got to know your podcast video n so happy with the contents you dealt with. I perfer British accent to the English accent that I used to learn in school days. Long ago I've been in London for a while n had hard trouble listening to British accents but I noticed it was much attractive . Anyway like me for a non native speaker of English ,learning other languages especially spoken with various accents is like copycat . I believe confidence is the key. I barely know a few words in Spanish, but if I had to ask something like “Am I supposed to be sitting here?”, I would simply say “Me here, this ok?” (Estoy Aqui, Esto bien?) I’ve probably misspelled it in 5 places too. I have zero concerns about how it is not perfect, because I naturally assume that people are kind and would understand that I’m a foreigner.

I noticed that I sometimes understand what you speak (about 50%) but when you talk to your guess, it’s pretty much harder to understand. If you advise me by revert, it would be most appreciated. 😊 Thank you so much and support you🎉

Hi Luke, thank you for opening up so deeply and sharing your fears, anxiety, and lack of confidence. It’s incredible because it mirrors exactly what your students feel. In your case, it might be even harder because you’ve excelled in English, and accepting any decline in communication skills can be tough. However, experiencing your students’ difficulties firsthand can enhance your ability to teach us. Thank you so much.

Hello Luke, Happy New Year to you and your family ! Thanks to your fantastic podcasts that I discovered half 2023. It's fascinating and fun. I like discovering your guests, particularly the linguists, polyglots and other English teachers speaking about the theory and methods of learning. Like you, I love reading ... in French, of course, but also in English : I buy a book (for ex. "Lessons in Chemistry") AND the audiobook ("Audible" platform). So, I can read and listen at the same time; I put the pace at 90-95 % depending of the reader, and enjoy the music of the language, the rhythm and the pronunciation ; really GREAT.....

Luke, I can listen to you for hours. I was looking for a teaching channel with a good English accent and couldn't find a better one. I am from Poland, my dream is to work as a construction engineer in an English-speaking country. You run it professionally, I haven't seen such a committed person with a passion for teaching for a long time, and your sense of humor keeps my spirits up, especially in these strange and unknown times. Thank you very much!❤

Hello Luke, I'm in my early fiftees and I'v been learning English for two years consistently. I tried to act like a child and have just passed an Cambridge B1 exam. Now I'm looking strongly forward to the B2 course at a german school called 'Volkshochschule'. However when it comes to speaking especially as an introvert person I have to Deal with some difficulties. For this reason, your high amount of work is quite helpful for me. A letter full of thanks from Germany and all the best for you. Markus

Happy New Year, bonne année, bonne santé à toi et à ta petite famille (and to your brother and your parents of course!) ... I listen to your podcast very often, while walking, doing housework or in sleepless hours. My English has become amazingly fluent and I am constantly learning new vocabulary. Thank you very much for that. It's a pleasure to be one of your students - and soon, when I can make better use of my time, I'll be listening to many more episodes as a Premium member, that's for sure. (Basically, I'm already bilingual, working as an interpreter for French and German, and I'm just thinking about what language learning tips I could add here ...)

Hello Luke 🙂 I'm not a skeleton, at all. A very educationally intensive episode😮 A lot of useful content that I will try to apply in my learning this year. I admire your great commitment to teaching English. This episode, not for the first time, showed me what a great teacher you are, but above all, a wonderful husband and devoted father. Your son is in a very positive mood🙂

Hello Luke! I'm Tani. First of all, I'm not a skeleton at all. I wholeheartedly appreciate you for this podcast. It's an incredible combination of utility and fun. And your sense of humor is a tresure. My listening skills weren't good at all when I'd started listening to your podcast. Mostly because I didn't like other shows for learners of Englis and shows for native speakers were too complicated for me. And after listening to hundreds of episodes I've finally moved to the next level. By the way, this improvement happened without any pain but with joy and pleasure. My next target is to build up my writing skills. So be ready for my comments after your videos on KZbin. Thanks a lot, and best wishes to you and your family in 2024!
