Hello Luke and all listeners, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thanks a million once again for the new episode and all your great effort. I started following your podcasts from episode 906, but I’ve gone back and reviewed up to episode 890. If you ever stop publishing your podcasts, I’ve got a two-year stockpile! :) I really enjoy listening to your podcasts. First, they’re not boring, and secondly, they’re long enough to provide good and efficient listening practice. Occasionally, I listen to them in two parts because I fall asleep if it’s too late. 1. LEP keeps me up to date while living in a non-English-speaking country. On the other hand, I’m learning new words, phrases, and idioms. I also use other applications to practice speaking. 2. I can say I completely understand what you’re saying, except when you’re joking around with your friends. These parts are published in transcripts, but I often skip them because it’s not easy to download and read them on a mobile device. Maybe it would be beneficial if you included some written formats, like short stories. Another thing is studying with songs. I have great difficulty understanding lyrics. Maybe you’ve already published something about this, but as a new listener, I haven’t seen it yet. Thanks again, and I wish you a successful and wonderful New Year!

Hi Luke. I am a Lepster for 10+ years. To briefly explain how much this podcast has benefited me, I got my current job, which I’ve been working at for about 7 years, thanks to this podcast. I passed the English exam I needed to clear to get this job because of you. So, I must say, I owe you a lot. Besides that, over this long period of time, I’ve learned so much from here that I can’t even put into words the value you’ve added to my life.

hi Luke!❤ thank you for your episodes!! I'm so glad that one day I found your podcast. 1) listening to it regularly helped me to choose my future career: I had passed an English exam at school and now I'm studying as a translator😊 your episodes are so diverse that I never get bored. different topics and ways of teaching us keep me engaged. also I really like your voice and pronunciation so my ones are improving because I try to shadow you) I learn so much vocabulary because every time you publish scripts for your episodes and it's very comfortable and useful to see unknown words and phrases. thank you for it. and also you give me motivation to learn English. when I was so tired of this language, the only thing that I could do is to listen to you. I wish you all the best✨✨

Hello, Luke! I'm writing to you from Spain and I want to say that your podcast ia an authentical miracle for learning English. Your channel helped me to improve my pronunciation ( because I like to repeat every word after you ) and my oral comprehension. I also got some new vocabulary, not only in english but in French as well. Some recommendations I could give are: 1) to repeat phrases after Luke, this helps you to improve the pronunciation and understand better the meaning. 2) trying to understand each word and to notice how the words are linked ( how one word turns into another one ) without subtitles. 3) noticing and memorising the structure of phrases can help to make better your grammar. And that's all) Thank you so much! Carry on making podcasts and have a very good Christmas🎉

Merry Christmas, Luke ❤ Thank you for your podcasts-they’ve been incredibly helpful in improving almost all the skills we need to use English. I’ve been following you for about six months, and my English has improved tremendously during this time. I enjoy everything about your podcasts. When I first started listening, it was difficult to understand everything, so I began on Spotify. Later, I switched to KZbin, and it became much easier. I absolutely adore your explanations and the way you host your podcasts. Thank you again! Would you consider playing something from your repertoire for us in the next episode? I’m sure all your followers would love to hear you play ❤ Have a great holiday season and greetings from Ukraine 💙 💛 from the library 😂

Hello, Luke. Thank you for the episode and Merry Christmas! Answering your questions, I find your podcast almost flawless and perfect and wish there were similar podcasts for German and Italian, the languages I'm trying to learn... I like the way you explain the meaning of words and phrases as you go, I like the topics you choose, your humour and personal touch. I found especially useful the episode (Bits and Bobs) where you answer listeners' questions about vocabulary and some grammar. For me, as a teacher of English myself, it's very important to be updated on how the language is used as well as on the British culture, and your podcast is a treasure trove in this respect. So thank you so much! By the way, you actually answered the question I'd had in my head for a long time - why do British singers sing with an American accent? Quite accidentally I came across this episode on your podcast and was absolutely happy to hear your opinion. I've definitely improved my listening skills (now I have more confidence watching interviews and films in English), built up my vocabulary, discovered lots of stuff about the British culture (I've watched This is Spinal Tap and the Monty Python and the Holy Grail movies) and even wanted to read the Gentleman in Moscow book, but it's not available here. As a teacher, I recommend your podcast to my pre-intermediate students and above. The pre-intermediate students prefer your short stories, of course... As for me , I just like it all - your rambling, conversations with family and friends, stories, jokes and all that jazz (if I may say so). I wish I could get more purely linguistic things (some vocabulary and the nuances in use of some phrases and grammar), but I guess you provide it in your premium subscription. I just must get one. Luke, thank you so much again for everything you do on your podcast, for being such a cool person and for helping me, apart from 'keeping my English fit', get through some tough periods of my life and escape from the harsh reality. Keep it up, please, and lots of best wishes to you and your fantastic family.

❤️I've been a ninja LEPster for more than 4 years now so I couldn't miss this opportunity to say thanks. When I just started to listen to Luke's English podcast in 2020 I binged on it for several hours a day during months choosing episodes from the infinite archive. During this time I've: Discovered my favourite British accent ever which is the scouse one. Now I desperately want to visit Liverpool. Learned a lot about British culture. Learned to understand jokes in English. "Met" a person who makes me feel incredibly good whenever I hear him, Paul Taylor obviously. Got to the point where I can listen to audiobooks, podcasts and other content in English on a higher speed. It's not that I do it often but I'm able to. Like, thanks for making my English learning so enjoyable! Lots of love❤️

Hello Luke. I’d like to share my relationship with your podcast. I came across it about 6 years back, but I was a beginner in learning English. I just felt that it was a powerful source of knowledge but I could understand almost nothing. A year back I came to conclusion that I needed to change my approach to English acquisition. I started to listen to your episodes about several hours a day. I do that every day while I’m doing my routine, running, travelling, etc. I can listen to my favorite episodes even 20 times. I do shadowing from time to time, write down words with examples that I need. I’m sure my listening skills have improved dramatically since I’m looking forward to listening to your next episodes, it’s a real pleasure for me, I have a good laugh and discover new knowledge. So your podcast is really beneficial, it’s a source for studying and my passion. Thanks a million Luke!

Hi Luke! 1) I don't really know how my English is improving thanks to your podcast since I'm not particularly concerned about my level but I certainly learn quite a lot from it. However, what keeps me listening to your content is the less academic part of it like jokes, stories and interesting conversations with your guests. And this matches perfectly with my second point 👇 2) The episodes that enjoy the most are those in which you approach a topic from scratch and try to describe it in detail, either by your own or with the help of a guest who is into it. Episodes based on anecdotes are always pleasant to listen to as well. Perhaps that kind of episodes are the ones that help me in a more significant manner, as they involve knowing more vocabulary in a variety of topics. So, imo , the more of them you release, the better. Merry Xmas and happy new year for you and your family and friends 🇪🇦🤝🇬🇧

Hello, In terms of language learning I noticed Since I started listening to your podcast and other English podcasts , I became more thinking in English in my mind instead of think in my first language (Arabic). So I believe quite useful to train the brain to hear English for long period. Then as a result you will use English terms and phrases spontaneously in your daily basis . Moreover it increased my knowledge of traditions and english people’s culture , though I live in Cardiff but there are obvious differences.

Hi Luke! Hope you're well. We're so lucky that u felt compelled to publish this particular episode and, frankly, all the others. Personally, I was really hoping u were gonna publish something in time for the Christmas season. I've written that before, and I'm gonna repeat it, - every single damn episode I feel like commenting on it or, even more so, praising it! Praising the amazing and indeed hilarious job you keep conjuring up, again and again👏 So, yeah, I always want to write such stuff to u, but, well, there's always something getting in the way🙄, or just my notorious procrastination kicks in🤦♂️ But I've promised myself, just because how an amazing podcaster and entertainer you are, that I'm definitely gonna comment more now, frankly, that's the least I can do to show u my deep gratitude. I could keep waffling like that on and on now (cos that's how I roll🙃), but I'm gonna restrain myself and stop NOW😉 Merry Christmas to you, your wife, your kids, and to your parents and James too🌲🌠🕊✌️🙏 Actually, Merry Christmas to all fellow learners of English here and everywhere🙏🤜🤛🙃 PS. Aaaaaa, I'm absolutely certain my English (as a foreign language itself, but also as my understanding of British culture and British way of life*) has improved enormously thanks to you, Luke, and for this I'm deeply grateful👏🤝 (*not to say I love every aspect of it, there's stuff I don't particularly approve of, eg. the notorious vagueness, to put it mildly🤷♂️🙄🙃) Best wishes, Robert.

Hey, Luke! Many thanks for all the effort and love doing the podcast: it has really structured my English throughout the past few years (I've been a Lepster since 2019). In 2024, your podcast helped me to feel very confident in producing English within my work and encouraged me to take a new step and start providing English classes within a Brazilian NGO (focused on assisting young people from low-income families). In this sense, your podcast has helped me with the structure of my oral communication (both producing and receiving), and will indirectly help many students from this NGO as well :) Also, I loved the episode you made reading content from Reddit (the history about Francis Bacon/France is Bacon). I think it was so amusing to listen, and I would love to see more like that in 2025! Considering Reddit is a huge social media, there are different types of content on Reddit that could work as great material for you. I wish the best for you and your family during 2025 - Greetings from Brazil! 🇧🇷

Hi Luke, I have been listened your podcast since Nov.2022. I kept to train my ear by listening your podcast and sticking to the approach you taught. As with many series of premium episodes, first of all you read and explain the content of the stories or articles, then you explain the vacob. or phrasal verbs...etc. You also demonstrated the pronunciation, included with word stress and rhythm. Moreover, it's intresting to feed all vocabulary to ChatGPT and create new essays. It's also useful for making these vocabulary words memorable. Currently I'm improving my poor pronunciation and expending the number of vocabulary words, phrasal verbs by constantly speaking those stories and articles. As an english learner whose level is between intermediate and upper intermediate, the most desirable skill I would like to achieve is speaking fluently. Of cause, I know it involes many factors such as how frequently you speak english, how many vocabulary, phrasal verbs you can utilize without hesitation. So in this way, I'm trying to speak each word from the specific articles as accurately as possible, especially focusing on the stressed words and linking. I also benefit from making the vocabulary memorable. I have consistently stuck to this method for years and found it's quite useful. That's a small tip I can share with you. At this moment, which is full of a grateful atmosphere, I really appreciate for your podcast and the skills you have taught.

Listening 8.5, I don't think that's only because of the podcast, but it definitely takes part. I love your rambling episodes the most, because they appeared to be more natural than scripted ones. And I'm not always interested in guests, so these ones I love the most. But I did enjoyed episodes with a Spanish tv presenter (Spanish?), but this one was really amazing. Also I want to say that the "bogey" writer episodes were nice (I'm even not sure was it this year or not). And I love episodes with your regular guests. In terms of advise. I like concentrating on one aspect when I'm listening. Some of such things: 1. Articles (the, a, why there is no article) 2. Pronunciation (especially a, e, schwa) 3. Shadowing is an obvious one, but sometimes I just repeat after you in my head. 4. Connection phrases, "mmm", "so to speak" etc, that contributes to the flow of the speech. Thank you, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
