88-94 automatic to manual swap run down for chevy / gmc c1500

I will explain the simplified version of what you need to covert an originally v6 automatic into a v8 350 manual 5 speed. (nv3500 transmission).
At the very least you will need.
-engine and trans
-engine harness
-ecm
-cross member and driveshaft
-new engine mounts for v8 config
-clutch pedal and bracket assembly
-clutch hydraulic cylinder assembly
make sure to install a pilot bearing into your v8 350 if it doesnt already have one
as far as i know this works as long as the vehicles both recipient and donor are nearly the same in body config and year range.

I have a suburban essentially the same frame as 1500 truck chassis longer maybe What do I need to do to swap a nv3500 into my 99 5.7 suburban Are there any known mods when doing a stick swap on the 1500s and should I pull from any specific year and make It seems like the 96-97 had a lot of manuals from the factory And I was also considering nv4500 since it’s a suburban

What computer things need to be converted from auto to manual? I have a 1990 c1500 shortbed and the 3rd gear on the 4l60e auto went out. I have a donor 1990 K1500 longbed that is manual. I know I need a 2wd trans and manual short wheel base driveshaft, which I found. I'll use the fluid reservoir, pedals, boot and shifter from the K1500 and leave gauges and the steering column alone like you did. Do I need any computer stuff from the k1500? @amfinc2 if you can grab the computer from the donor truck! It will probably not work properly since it is a k1500 and not a c1500. Ideally, find the computer off of a c1500 truck. Also, try to find the computer from a truck from a similar year. This is because the engine harnesses changed over the years. The computer from your year model truck might have a different pin out that the one you grab from a donor. Lastly, try to grab the engine harness from the same year model truck as the one you're going to put the harness into. All in all, grab the computer and complete engine harness from a donor c1500 of the same year as yours. That'll make the swap buttery smooth. If you have any questions, let me know.

@@Edgar-and-Wrench thanks man, it looks like another channel PureJoyFarms did a manual swap too on their 4x4 version. Apparently, I just need to jump the clutch neutral safety and the reverse lights. I will try with my ECU, the forums say they don't think it will be an issue. I will try and report back

I am doing the same swap, looking under my dashboard I don’t see much room to position a clutch pedal with bracket under there. Did you run into space problems mounting the pedal and bracket?

So you have to open up the holes for the clutch master cylinder and studs. Once you get the clutch master cylinder in place you can use the studs to hold the clutch pedal bracket in place. Once the clutch pedal bracket is in place you can mark the holes at the top of the cab to drill out. After thr holes have been drill you will have to remove the top grill assembly where the wipers arms connect to and feed the bolts through the cab. Make sure you rtv the bolts so that water doesnt leak into the cab from those new holes you drilled

Did u reuse the clutch and flywheel from the parts truck or did u buy new, and do u remember what kit u used

I originally reused the original flywheel and clutch plate off the donor 350. I replaced them later on with a new plate and flywheel. I dont remember the part numbers off the top of my head. Just make sure you install the pilot bearing (either brass or traditional ball bearing is fine. Im running a brass one). Idk if there is a difference between the v6 or v8 flywheel/clutch plate so much sure to research that.

What about your brake light switch? I have one that I believe was swamped and have rail lights and low beam issues

And to clarify i used the adjustable push rod for the Slave cylinder. Not the master cylinder.

@@JustinPVlogs for me it was trial and error. I adjusted it until my clutch was dissengaging properly. Ive been running it like that since i posted the video. BUT i think im going to take it off and reduce the pushrod in length to see if it increases the pressure in which the clutch is engaged

@@Edgar-and-Wrench Gotcha, thanks! Im mid swap right now and just got the trans mated to the engine, and all the hydraulics setup. Cant tell for sure because its not running yet, but it feels like the clutch isn't disengaging fully. Feels like it starts to disengage but before it has to a chance to fully disengage the pedal reaches the floor. Most likely in my case the hydraulics just needs more bleeding, but there's a chance I may need to increase the pushrod length. Im guessing when yours wasnt disengaging fully when running it wouldnt go into gear or would grind?

I have a manual 93 truck. I pulled the dash wiring harness out of an automatic 93. Are they compatible?

Depends on what youre trying to do. My truck was originally an automatic. I kept the automatic dash harness and used a manual engine harness. So far everything except my oil pressure gauge works. An important note is that my truck is a 1988 model with a 1991 engine harness. Since yours is from the same year i would assume it all works

I have an automatic 4x4 94 K1500 with a 4l60el. Will I need to use a different driveshaft putting an NV3500 in? Thanks!

To be completely honest im not sure if there are dimensional differences between the nv3500 and 4l60e. If there is then you might need one. I would suggest you look up on a forum to see if anyone has done a swap similar to the one youre doing. You might find more helpful information.

For my 1990 c1500 with the 4l60e I do need a manual driveshaft for the nv3500.

Just reverse everything i mentioned. The computer will more than likely need to be changed as well.

If i remember correctly i used the mount thay was already bolted to the transmission. The mount has 1 stud that goes through the crossmember.

Havent got to actually driving it haha. Im about to finish rebuilding the front end this weekend. Still got to figure out reverse lights

Negative. I used the same driveshaft. To be specific i used everything from the donor truck.

@Chevro91 after 1995 im not sure what it would take. I know the 88-94 years are a lot more simpler to work on. You have to account for all the electronics that rely on the transmissions signal. If you take that away then they wont work correctly or at all
