As I said before, you are a very good reviewer (knowledgeable, detail oriented and honest). I enjoy your presentations very much and agree with your comments and conclusions. I also learn a lot from your comments and observations. I started to watch your videos (although I did see your P-515 review some time ago) recently, at the time that I also started to think of trading my P-515 for a MIDI keyboard or a stage piano. You helped me to understand that it does not make sense for me (I would never be happy with a different action). Obviously we have different needs - I traded FP-90X (better than FP-60X) precisely because it had too many unnecessary for me buttons and sliders. I play piano and do not need anything more, especially equalizer sliders or microphone input. I hated the clutter of its panel! I am subscribing to your channel. Thank you. Michael Ps. I already returned P-515 once to get it back in a few days 🙂

Thank you Michael. I think the P-515 is still the best touch I have felt as far as playing. I miss it in fact. But moving on to try to find the perfect 88-note for my uses…

@@Cre8ivKeyboards I am looking forward to hearing (and seeing) what it may be. I have to admit that I have given up. I concluded that there is no digital piano or keyboard that could meet my criteria: wooden action with down weight of 50-57g for C4 (P-515 fails hear with its heavy action), limited number of features and weight of the portable digital piano less than 16kg. I cannot play heavy NWX action for longer than an hour a day anymore (my fingers started to hurt) and I am ready to just get something light and half decent with light, weighted action. There was no action that I completely liked in my long search for my dream digital piano. I will just have a simple digital piano at home and rent time of grand acoustic pianos. Michael

That was really cool to go shopping. You really helped me focus on finding a keyboard that works with Keylab really well. I was thinking about the Roland FP30x or the 90x...or the Kawai VPC1. You helped me realize the DP is not ideal for vsts, so dodged a bullet there.

My compliments for this video. I would also be interested in the original video without the voice over and the music. Here's why: I recently bought a Yamaha Modx8. First I was impressed by this keyboard. After a while i noticed that while playing, the keys produced a terrible clanky noise. It really started to bother me, I heard it even while playing with headphones. So i sent it back. After this downer I'm looking for another keyboard. A lot of keyboard reviews let you hear the amazing sounds, but what I really want to hear is if a keyboard makes no anoying key action noise.
@Cre8ivKeyboards3 жыл бұрын
I totally get your thoughts here. I purchased the Yamaha MX88 before my current P-515, and it has the same exact keyboard and feel of the Modx8. It just wasn’t solid enough for me. The P-5151 is the best 88 note feel (and not too noisy) but it is only a digital piano. What are your needs for a keyboard?
@eraseme7473 жыл бұрын
@@Cre8ivKeyboards Thanks for your time to reply. A similar keyboard is what I have in mind. Similar to the modx. Perhaps a Roland, but much more than a digital piano. Next time however I want to hear the key action in a store before buying. That's why I was interested in the raw footage of your film :) And then there is another thought: the option to buy a modx6 and connect a master keyboard to it. But it is my fear that the delays ruin the party. Maybe it's a ridiculous idea... I heard the key action sound of the P515 in you other video. Less noise compared to modx.

Much as Bill Andre, has already stated; a good option, for many...was a good, smaller controller, and a very nice, larger 88 digital piano. I settled on an Oxygen Pro 49 (killer bang, for buck), for our controller. It has the best, compact type action...on a non-fully weighted controller, that I've tried. There are tons, of DAW controls; and the latency, is non-existent...even, on our more basic, desktop computer. I really enjoyed, this video! Love your channel.

My search continues. As my next video will show, I sold my beloved P-515 and bought a Hammer 88 Pro. Unboxing and first impressions coming soon!

In fact the Unboxing on this video is today at 10am ET. I’ll be premiering and answering any questions live.

Roland RD-2000 has PHA50 action (it is not really wooden action - it just has wood inserts; the static weight for middle C is 56g). RD-88 has PHA-4 completely plastic action (64g to move middle C). PHA-4 develops clicking after 5-6 months of intensive use. Plastic actions are generally noisy. By the way, GHS action (P-125) is light - 54g for middle C. It does not have three sensors or escapement (as PHA50) unfortunately

The RD-88 has DAW control..... you can use it with Mainstage and others via USB However The unit I have , after 2.5 years has a noisy PHA-4 keyboard and Roland won't cover it since they only have a 2 yr. warranty on the unit Therefore, I ordered and am waiting for my Yamaha P-515.....should arrive in 4 days Thanks for confirming that I made the right decision

I really need high end MIDI control and not sure Digital Pianos are meant for that.

I'm on the same exact journey. I have plenty of synths but want a good 88 key piano feel in a portable format witha music stand and blue tooth. I'm looking at Casio PX-S7000, Yamaha CP88, Roland FP-90X, Korg SV2-SP 88-key, Yamaha P-515, and Kawai ES920, but unable to test many out in person (e.g. Kawai, Korg). I'll try your M-Audio video next. I found the Roland's too plasticky even with the PHA-50 Hammer-action. The Nords too clanky when the volume is low. The struggle is real.
@Cre8ivKeyboards Жыл бұрын
if your goal is live piano sound and best keybed, I would choose the CP88 or P515. Still looking for best 88Note controller and next will try StudioLogic Grand.

@@Cre8ivKeyboards I went with the Yamaha P-515 in white. No regrets!. Thanks!

Hey ... thanks for the informative video. If space isn’t a factor, why don’t you keep the Yamaha P515 as you keyboard controller and connect a second, small midi controller just for DAW control? Which DAW do you use? You should be able to Google the best midi controllers for your DAW. That would give you the best of both worlds ... and save you a fair amount of money.
@Cre8ivKeyboards3 жыл бұрын
I actually thought about that. Maybe another small NI controller since they work so well.

My guitar center has pretty much nothing in it other than a couple stage pianos. Extremely disappointing. I remember when they used to carry everything. Seems like my local store has given up.

Love your videos. You should chack the Studio Logic Grand and Studio, the action is great but their velocity curves may need to be calibrated by an expert, and the top of the line the Kawaii VPC1 looks, feels ans sound phenomenal.

I don't understand what you mean by "missing daw controls" when talking about most digital piano ? I thought it was possible to use a DAW as long there is a USB or MIDI output ? Thanks for the video anyway, i had a really good time watching it :)
@Cre8ivKeyboards8 ай бұрын
What I meant was they didn't have much control to stop or start your DAW, or do different things like the NI S88 or Arturia Keylab 88 do. Unfortunately as it trs out they didn't have the keybed I felt comfortable with.

What is DAW control?
@Cre8ivKeyboards Жыл бұрын
Buttons on the keyboard it self that let you start and stop your DAW (like Logic, Pro Tools, etc.)
