Your concern is justified. Because Israel can organize terrorist attacks on behalf of Palestine or any other organization that may be associated with Palestine. Israel always commits terrorist attacks and other crimes under a false flag. For example, how Israel attacked the International Trade Center on 9/11 in New York in 2000. Israel has created many extremist organizations such as ISIS, Al Qaeda and others to commit crimes against Islamic and Western countries. In Tel Aviv there is a special “Islamic Institute” that trains “Islamic preachers” whose task is to pretend to be Islamic preachers to induce teenagers and not very smart adults to commit crimes against innocent people in Islamic and Western countries. Many crimes have been committed around the world in this way. One of the latest is a terrorist attack in Russia, in Moscow, in the Crocus City Mall shopping center. ) We should all pray that the Olympics in Paris will be safe and we should all help the police and be vigilant. ☮️

Luke, thank you for this great episode. Actually, when we hosted the Olympics in Sochi, a vast majority of people opposed to it, because it was too expensive. But now, from my perspective, I can say, that it’s much better to spend money for the Games rather than for wars… ☮️
@MrDRIYKO7 ай бұрын
Russia spent about $70 billion on the Sochi Olympics. Forbes estimated the cost of the war to Russia at $10 billion per month. So far they must have spent 260 billion on killing and destruction.

I'm from Brazil, and when we hosted Rio 2016, we were also amidst political instability. Despite that, the Games were incredible. During the event, we forgot our problems for a few days, cheered for our athletes, and welcomed people from all over the world with open arms. I volunteered at the Olympic Park and remember the amazing atmosphere where everyone was happy and excited to be part of it. I've always loved the Olympic Games and lived a dream during Rio 2016. I watched the opening ceremony on a screen that the IOC set up inside the Olympic Village for volunteers, and I remember crying a lot-not just because I was proud of my country but because I was living a dream. Hosting the Olympic Games at home is amazing and a unique feeling, and despite the challenges, I hope the French people feel that too.

Hello Luck!! I really was hoping for another walk and talk one! 😂 It's always great pleasure to see you again. And about Islam, the face covering is called, Borghe that is banned in most of the countries but wearing scarf to cover the hair is fine. Olympics in my thoughts has lost it's meaning because I think it has been created to bring the world together and help a less known country to be known but in these years it became a belonging of rich nations to pass it between themselves

Luke, in this video you can be heard using the Olympics as a singular noun. I'd expect both the Olympics and the Olympic games to be plural and used with plural verbs. Would appreciate your explanation.
@LukesEnglishPodcast7 ай бұрын
The short answer is that the slight majority of people and publications refer to the Olympics as singular and the Olympic Games as plural. The idea is that the Olympics is one event or one thing (as another example, think of one huge, week-long concert like Woodstock where multiple bands are playing). ellii.com/blog/grammar-rules-for-the-olympics#:~:text=The%20short%20answer%20is%20that,where%20multiple%20bands%20are%20playing).

Hi Luke! Thank you for the episode. It was interesting, informative, and entertaining as well. Talking about the Olympic Games these days, I would say that is a controversial event because our world is facing such problems as climate change, economic recessions, and wars. Why do governments waste so much money for this and not for more important things? On the other hand, it gathers people around the world together and potentially creates an open and friendly society, where competition exists only in sports. Furthermore, there are professional sportsmen for whom this is the main event in their careers, usually quite short. I used to watch the Olympic Games when I lived with my parents. They were being broadcast on TV which was often turned on during some competitions. Now I watch KZbin mostly and I’m not interested in sports so much. I prefer to watch corgi races instead 😆

I live in Russia, and this situation with the invasion in Ukraine and the whole war that is currently taking place in this region, of course, is concerning all of us. It's terrible, exhausting and unhuman action. We're all against this war , we're against putin and all what he's doing in the world. We're getting very scared for what this so-called politician is saying about the nuclear strike, about the invasion, about the war, about killing civilians and killing in general. Thank you for your words and your understanding of this tense situation. I want you to know that we against the war and it is very dangerous to have such opinion in Russia nowadays. I could go in prison for these words and all critiсism of russian system. Sorry for my poor English ..that's why I listen for your lessons.

The burden of organizing an International event Is counterbalanced by the chance of positive comebacks as renewal of infrastructures and advertising of the hosting country. France Is not only Paris but in this case "le tour de France" is a much more better instrument. Other countries prefer to organize International events in important but not Capital cities to help them increase their public image. Paris doesn't need an olimpic showroom and so they tend to underline the risks compared to the irrilevant incomes in terms of public imaging which on the contrary may have a downsizing if the olimpic games have any trouble. Thanks luke for your up to date podcast. Save the bouquinists and down with the chauvinists
