The new revision that comes with philips screws, even fits a Seimitsu LS-32 without any changes. Just use the plate that comes with the 8bitdo. Before you used to have to dril a hole or sand the plastic. It also bits the LS-55, LS-56, LS-58, etc. as they are even smaller.
@ostmedkommensmag3 ай бұрын
Have you tried installing a LS-32 in the Arcade Stick? I really don’t see how it would fit without sanding down the bottom of the Arcade Stick or drilling a hole in it 🤔
@ostmedkommensmag2 ай бұрын
Well. I ordered a LS-32-01-SE and it fits. Perfectly. Without any modifications. And I didn't even have to use the plate that comes with the 8bitdo, it fits perfectly with the original SE plate the LS-32 comes with.

I just got the new 2023 8bitdo stick (for xbox and PC) and it's really good.. already in the modding process with it, i've changed the buttons from stock to Seimitsu and i'm waiting for a Seimitsu LS56 stick to arrive shortly which i'll be installing using the soldering method. A tip for anyone is that not all Seimitsu joysticks will fit into this box (same as the previous 8bitdo arcade stick) you must check the depth of each model as there is limited space unless you want to start cutting holes in the base to accommodate it. The LS40 for example will not fit, it's too deep.

Great video. Finally decided to mod my one and watching this gave me the confidence that I wouldn't completely stuff it up 😆. One thing that did happen to me when I was installing some new Sanwa buttons, was that when pressing in the L-connector wire, I actually ended up bending the button's connectors. So just be careful that you've pushing the L-connectors in dead straight. Also, another observation was that my copy had standard Phillips head screws holding the case together. I suspect that this is a regional difference (mine was purchased in New Zealand).

Actually, if you remove the PCBs first, you'd be able to use buttons that you can screw on. Since they fasten down and sits flush, it'll clear the PCBs. If you're concerned about it rubbing against the plastic chassis, you can sand down or dremel down those walls. They're there to help keep the PCB sitting flat.

Thanks for the great tutorial! I was able to install a Seimitsu LS-55 and accompanying buttons into mine and I really love how clicky the stick is and how resistant the buttons are VS the stock ones. I don't remember if you mentioned it in the video or not (I skimmed for the info I needed once I got to rewatching during the actual modding process) but the Seimitsu 5-pin wire colors are different from the Sanwa ones; easy enough to fix after the fact but at first I wasn't sure why the directions weren't going through properly. Had to look into the problem and redo the wire matching once I realized what was afoot, but now it's 100% fantastic. Hopefully my screw-up can save some other noob the headache!

@lordofsquad Do you know if the 5 pin adapter cable used in this video would work on a Seimitsu joystick with 5 pin connector? Or would it just mess up the directions? I hope you can save this noob a headache!
@lordofsquad3 жыл бұрын
@@ostmedkommensmag Did your stick come with an accompanying 5-pin wire or did you order it separately? I ordered mine from Akishop and it came with the appropriate one. The right direction/wire colour match-up will depend on what particular stick model you have as well, did you get the LS-55 or something else?
@ostmedkommensmag3 жыл бұрын
@@lordofsquad I still haven't decided on which Seimitsu joystick to go with, so I'm on a quest trying figure out which stick will suit my needs the best. I'll mainly be using the stick for 4-way games like the old school arcade Donkey Kong, and my research so far has told me that the Seimitsu sticks are better 4-way sticks than the Sanwa JLF (or am I wrong?). I really like the idea of not having to cut any wires or soldering because of my limited skills and knowledge so therefor I'm trying to figure out if the 5 pin adapter cable JoyStickNY is using in this video would work on a Seimitsu joystick or not? And maybe some advice on which Seimitsu stick that would be best for 4-way games?
@lordofsquad3 жыл бұрын
@@ostmedkommensmag I can't attest to the differences between sticks other than between the LS-55 and the stock one, and the LS-55 is certainly better than stock, with more of a snappy feel. Checking quickly, it looks like that or the LS-33 are your only Seimitsu choices for this particular stick unless you want to start hacking away at the plastic. Honestly, if you're mainly looking to play 4-way games, I just might consider going with the Sanwa JLF for the simple fact that it's easier to get a 4-way restrictor gate for it than it is for those two Seimitsu models. Whatever stick you go with should come with the appropriate 5-pin cable, or at least be available for purchase from the same source. You can probably mix and match (they mechanically work the same, only real diff is the colour-coding) but you'll save yourself some trial and error figuring out which colour corresponds to what direction if you get the properly colour-coded cable for your stick in the first place. JoyStickNY's video here assumes you're using the Sanwa so if you do go with Seimitsu you'll have to look up the colour-direction guide for whatever stick you pick, but the process of stripping the wires, twisting them together, and wrapping it off in electrical tape will be the same. Hope that helps!

Love this. You literally made me buy it, along with Sanwa joystick and buttons. Great video. Thank you! 1 question. Have you uploaded any video about where to go from there? Like a buying guide of fighting sticks for advanced players?

You can also use the soldering iron to solder the wires together and then slide a bit of heat shrink over it and use the heat gun to shrink the heat shrink into place. This would be the traditional way of splicing a cable for this.

is there that much difference in upgrading the buttons and joystick? i just purchased this 8bitdo arcade stick and it feels great as it is

It great for many games by default, but if you play fighting game like super serious, sometimes u want a more customized parts, sanwa parts are abit more responsive in general, if u ever want to upgrade, start with sanwa. But the factory parts are not bad, use them for a while b4 u upgrade
