Id rather have a cable like this rather that coonectors that wear out and get loose, much more common than cables going bad.

Exactly. USB-C connector is much more fragile than the cable itself. These cables can work for a lifetime.

This is my favorite Series X controller so far. I have it now for almost 7 months. The best things about are the sticks and the shoulder buttons (take a good look at how there a groove between RB and RT, LB and LT so these are perfect if you're using Bumper Jumper or Helljumper controls in Halo Infinite) Most of the time I get way higher accuracy in Halo games with this controller compared to using an OG Series X controller with a magnetic cable. Now I unintentionally dropped this controller a few times and now the A button and the right trigger are a little sticky but I do not notice this during gameplay. However I have a problem with the sprinting sometimes (I use the right backbutton for sprinting) the back buttons are comfy but I had happen pretty often that my Spartan in Halo would just stop sprinting so yeah sometimes it doesn't happen at all so I don't if it's cause I'm running the cable connected to another 5m DelayCon repeater cable or if it's something else. Also I see nobody mentioning how good the materials of this controller feel. I just yesterday and there is way more give in squeezing a OG Series X controller than the 8BitDo Ultimate. Very underated controller. Especially if you can get for what like 45 bucks. The parallel handles can take some getting used to as do the edges on the top sides like I said in my other comment 4 months ago. I compensate by holding this controller pretty lightly at the top and with my ringfingers and pinkies tighter. I actually think that's the intended way of holding it as you use the middle fingers for the back buttons. Also smartest profile switching design choice out of all the controllers I had so far and the software is very easy to use. Note look for updates. Had this controller working better after an update. My love for this controller really grew over the months : )

Bought a year ago. Used sporadically for half a year. Pros: customizable button mapping and additional profiles two rear buttons, microphone mute and profile buttons the ability to disable dead zone, which improves responsiveness in games where dead zones cannot be adjusted. Cons: When connected to Xbox, analog sticks often need calibration (it has been this way from the beginning), drift in the right stick has started to appear even after calibration, causing involuntary camera movements in games, such as when aiming, which disqualifies this controller and all of its advantages, poor analog stick quality; someone who plays all day would probably wear it out in a month.

This is why I prefer the Bluetooth version of the controller. I don't know if it works on XBox (I don't have an XBox... yet), but the Hall Effect sensors are a major selling factor for me. The charging dock and 2.4GHz Reciever are a plus. It is in the Nintendo layout, though.

None if the features for the other controllers that you mentioned at the end are really important; lights, Dolby Atmos, mechanical face buttons -- too loud and will annoy the family, unique faceplates, small size -- fine if you small hands, but these features aren't needed on a controller.

In reviews you always seem to say “you’ll want to put a Kontrol Freek on” if it’s got stock sticks and I gotta say I don’t understand the obsession with a taller right thumbstick. If you’re playing a 3D game where you can move around in the environment you use the left stick while aiming too, not just the right. I walk/strafe myself onto target all the time. I get the concept. I know taller means more range of motion/ leverage. I’m not disputing that aspect at all. However. I used tall and medium KF’s for probably 6 months each and I’ve since switched back to stock height. I can play well with KF’s no doubt, and at one point I thought I would never go back. I actually felt like I needed them to do well 😅. I’ve been back on stock height for 2 years now though and after an adjustment period I don’t miss them at all. There are other factors that are more important to have a good feeling controller experience on shooters and other types of aim heavy games. Most of them are software and developer related imo. Give me deadzone and response curve adjustability with stock thumbsticks any day of the week over a tall right thumbstick with none of those settings available. That’s been my big issue with controller, it feels so inconsistent game to game because it depends how the developer handles it and what settings they give you. Destiny 2 for example has a 23% non adjustable deadzone and fixed response curve. It feels sluggish AF with a tall stick because no matter what your in game sensitivity is, you have to push the stick that much further to get past the deadzone and have your movement register. It uses the Halo: Reach response curve and deadzone. That game was designed for an Xbox 360 controller which had higher stick tension and shorter sticks. It feels way better when played that way. Personally I think gyro control and flick stick should be the future for controllers and would eliminate the need for aim assist. Would help to bring MnK and controller closer. I had an 8bitdo that looked like a nes and a ps2 controller had a baby. It was great for about 3 months, then stick drift. hopefully this isn't normal, but for what's it's worth their customer service was attentive and quick to respond

I’ve had 3 of this exact model and each one has had the sticks drifting within only weeks. I preordered it and waited with much excitement, but less than 3 weeks after receiving the first one I had to reach out to Amazon for a replacement. The same thing happened only few weeks after playing with the second one that I was sent. I’m still using the third one I was sent, but the right stick is almost unbearable at this point and Amazon has already sent me a full refund. I was really disappointed because this really is a great wired controller other than the thumb sticks drifting soon after coming out of the box. Hall effect should be the standard by now! Please do better 8Bitdo 👎

Finally,had 3 different ones too,2 ultimate and one pro 2,the sticks feel decent at First but after a few days they become unusable and highly unaccurate...i think its a software problem that they haven't been able to fix since launch on all of the Xbox controllers haha,WORST controller ever used and got a full refound on all of them,the last one"the ultimate xbox" i gave up After 7 months waiting for the patch and returned it with the warranty... You should really try pdp afterglow wave or rematch,both are solid

Bought it for 15 dollars in AliExpress. It seems virtually identical to the Ultimate Bluetooth variant (which I love), though I suppose it's made with cheaper materials, and it doesn't have the same sticks. But it shall be enough, the Ultimate Bluetooth controller is my favorite on the Switch and I really miss it on the Xbox. The buttons and D-Pad of its default controller are loud as hell.

I don’t understand why they haven’t made a version of this with Hall effect sticks like on the BT Ultimate version of this controller… I can only imagine it’s in the pipeline but there seems to be a big void in the Xbox controller market for a Hall effect controller. Gulikit themselves are currently only planning to release a dongle for their King Kong 2 pro to use it on Xbox… somebody surely has to release one soon.

I bought this one, and this is an awesome controller, so much better than the elite 2 because of those damn precise hall effect thumbsticks. My elite 2 is hanging around somewhere and i dont use it anymore

I pre-ordered this with high hopes. Nice controller, but the overall shape is too "square." The angle your hands hold it aren't natural like basically all other controllers. Also the the taper of the grips is too narrow and my ring and pinky fingers hurt after awhile, and i have small hands. I returned it.

I absolutely loved this controller.. until the left stick died. Like died to the point that I couldn't sprint in games from clicking it down. I wish it didn't die. I might look into the "free maintenance" which I didn't know was available until this video.

I'm not surprised they did not send you there 1st xbox wired controller as I assume they know its trash. With in the first week something happened to the cord idk what. It stopped have a connection and the usb out was overheating. How it started over heating is unknown. I only knew it was getting hot cuz I could smell burning plastic.

I've been through several 8bitdo controllers because the pads underneath the buttons tear through after a year or so. But they are comfy to use.

My experience hearing other people talk about their 8BitDo controllers has been "It's never worked right since the first time I dropped it/ put it in my backpack/ squeezed it too hard" sometimes prefaced with "it's what I could afford."
