situational. I bought the Light2 to throw into an already heavy gaming kit for the Steam Deck. The measly 2.82 ounce weight and the smaller form factor really make a huge difference. Especially for x2

I really have no clue why they made the Lite 2 not work on Windows, when the original Lite "1" worked really well in Windows & Steam... Makes Just no sense

@@darthmalgus786 that is not the reason... You can connect a D-Input controler on Windows using Bluetooth, but the inputs are not recognized by most games, even with the adpter, cause windows games use X-Input mostly

TBH I'm not sure why they don't list the the controller as supporting PC. From what I understand the controller uses dinput. (IE: The older direct x input standard before xinput. It's that same standard that Android and the Pi are using.) So I mean it still should work it just will come up as a generic gamepad. (IE: No controller specific button prompts) If you want the button prompts you should be able to use one of the xinput emulation solutions or just use steam. And speaking of steam if it functions as a steam controller you should be able to pair it to a bluetooth dongle and use it in steam just like any other switch controller too. I think this is just a case of them changing their labeling on the website over time.

Yea there’s many ways around it but I guess just purely by itself it doesn’t work for PC. I haven’t tested this just because I don’t game on PC.

@@senjucam Well just to explain a bit more thoroughly: Dinput on PC is not a workaround. It's fully supported on windows PC. Dinput is short for Direct X Input. (dinput is the name of the DLL that runs it.) Direct X is Microsoft's standard for drivers aimed at gaming they created in 1995. It's mostly known for it's graphics API (A common alternative to OpenGL and Vulkan) but it consists of more parts than that. The newest Direct X is 12. Xinput didn't come around until 2005 when Microsoft decided to make Xbox 360 controllers work natively in windows. Most of the differences between the two standards is on the developer end but basically if your controller is using xinput you're telling windows and the game that the physical controller has controls similar to an Xbox controller. So if the program has default controller button bindings it'll put the bindings in the logical locations because it knows where A B X Y etc are going to be physically. Where as if you're using dinput you're basically just telling the windows and the game that you have a controller that is not following the Xbox controller layout. It could be anything. The software isn't going to assume that say, button 1, is on the bottom because button 1 could be anywhere. The controller might not even be a gamepad, it could be a wheel or a joystick, or a mini-keyboard. Literally anything. Because of that you will generally have to tell the game what you want each button to control. It also isn't going to show xbox button prompts because, again, you've basically told the game you don't have an xbox controller. The only workaround you need to do is if you want a dinput controller to fool programs into thinking it's xinput. This is useful if you've got a controller similar an xbox layout but it doesn't use xinput. You commonly see this being done with things like Playstation or Switch controllers. You know, because the basic layouts of these controllers is essentially the same. (Oh, as to why android and pi (Android and Pi are both Linux based) it's because dinput created a standard HID profile that just about everyone adopted. Where as xinput has some proprietary elements to IIRC.)

BTW just to confirm my Lite 2 came in and sure enough the "D" switch is dinput mode. You can connect it via bluetooth and use it natively in windows.

Great comparison. I was looking at these both. I mostly play old RPGs on my tablet or phone when I'm bored. I think the smaller one is more practical for me even though the retro looks cooler

Personally don't get the "winning" or "losing" in these. They both are great controllers and each of these categories is heavily subjective depending on the user. You should be categorizing which type of person would want whichever controller, List its benefits for those people. There is no Winning in a comparison, the user should walk away deciding which controller they want based on the new info they've gathered.
