8bitdo made the Lite SE recently, finally being the first controller I've ever used that allows me to actually have access to all the buttons I need as a one-handed gamer. No other big name controller company has ever cared as much for the disabled gaming community as 8bitdo.

Couple of things missed here: As a lot have already pointed out, the base has USB pass-through for the dongle. More importantly, only the Bluetooth version has Hall Effect joysticks. The 2.4Ghz version has traditional potentiometer joysticks. Also the 2.4Ghz versions is available in pink, but the Bluetooth version is not.

And also hall effect triggers. Those don't crap out as easily, but hey, good to have nonetheless. Now, I do feel like Gulikit KingKong Pro 2 does it better with its easily replaceable and 50 million click rated face buttons, but it lacks the back buttons. Shoulder buttons are now the part that's most prone to failing in both these controllers especially with a game like Rocket League.

@@YounesLayachi In what context? Will the controller work in 2.4Ghz mode if the dongle is in the controller dock when connected via USB to the Switch Dock? Is this somehow different from plugging dongle directly into the Switch dock, because in theory the USB connection from the dock to dock, should just be a "pass-through". So in theory, it shouldn't matter. Or is there a difference I'm not aware of. I need context. Does the 2.4Ghz mode that Wulff claims does not work on Switch, actually work? The controller has 1 massive flaw that previous 8bitdo controllers also had. You cannot use gyro and vibration at the same time. When the controller vibrates, the gyro goes haywire. The Switch Pro Controller does not have this issue. This makes the 8bitdo Ultimate unusable for me in Monster Hunter Rise on Switch, for example.
@mndrgs
@mndrgs 2 жыл бұрын
Is this an issue on Pro 2 as well?
@Hathos9
@Hathos9 2 жыл бұрын
@@mndrgs Yes, I can confirm. Because of the issue, I only used my Pro 2 for PC games, and it looks like my Ultimate controller will share the same fate. This is unfortunate, because I otherwise like the controller, but Monster Hunter Rise is my most played Switch game with 600ish hours. I imagine that this makes the controller a deal-breaker for other games that utilize motion, such as possibly Splatoon, unless you are willing to turn of vibration. I can't in Monster Hunter since vibration indicates charge levels on weapons, such as Bow. Nor would I want to turn vibration off, since it generally enhances the experience.

Just a heads up. The 2.4G version of the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller doesn't have the Hall Effect joysticks. It uses ALPS. The Hall Effect Joysticks is only on the Bluetooth model. Also, the 2.4Ghz dongle has a passthrough effect when it's plugged into the dock, so you can just connect it to the Switch dock and you're good to go. The gyro works pretty well on it, too. It's a smudge slower than the Pro Controller, but not by much.

As far as analog triggers go, with some racing games like GRID, you can put accelerate and brake on the right stick to give analog inputs and then “switch right stick with triggers” in the ultimate app to get analog function out of the triggers. Pretty nifty way to be able to get racing sims to be playable on switch.

As it turned out, the problem is very simple to solve. Take apart the gamepad, remove the stick head and put it back upside down. On the inside of the stick head there are micro-increments on one side that create this effect. Most likely it was just put upside down during assembly. Otherwise, there are no complaints to the device at all. The gamepad is awesome.

Fun little thing to note if you’re using the USB Dongle (though, this applies to any USB Controller for Switch). If you’ve ever tried using BT Headphones with The Joycons or Pro Controller wireless, you’ve probably noticed that in addition to some real rough sound quality, the latency gets dramatically worse over time. However, using the 2.4ghz mode on this controller, because it’s freed up BT bandwidth, those latency issues are severely reduced. While it doesn’t really improve on the sound quality itself, it’s considerably more bearable when I don’t see people’s mouths move two seconds before hearing anything at all. So yeah, that in addition to every other awesome feature with this controller, it’s fantastic.

I gave it to my best friend as a gift and she loves it on PC. She has a lot of hand pain, so she’s VERY picky about which controllers feel nice. This one is by far the comfiest controller she’s ever used that also has 2 paddles (she needs 2 paddles desperately). She also really loves the charging dock, it’s much easier to remember to charge the thing with it there, and switching between her PC and switch is seamless.

I have this controller and i have to say its great but you _must_ set a deadzone. Hall effect sticks are so precise that they might sit in a 0.0002 location and cause drift. Said drift is not caused by the controllers being worn out but rather precision

@@Washington_Marques You can set the deadzone in the 8bitdo software, although if you for example use Steam Input, it already adds Deadzone by default. My recommendation would be to set a preffered deadzone in the app (it saves to the controller) and disable or set smaller deadzone in steam.

one more thing with the dock and the dongle: if the dongle is connected to the dock, you can use the 2.4ghz mode on a device that the dock is connected to. it acts as a usb pass-through. so rather than the signal going through your desk and case and whatnot, it just goes to the dock, which is probably sitting on your desk, near the monitor. great feature for pc.

I am the person this was made for. Had the Pro Controller since launce - Hated the D-Pad since launce. Also the grips become loose and once they start moving a bit, I can't "not" twist them while using it. Always wanted an 8bitdo but hated the alt layout (I don't like the PS style of dual joysticks at the bottom). This thing retaining the official layout, giving me the functional D-Pad, and a charging stand.. the literally only thing it doesn't have is the NFC reader but meh.. it's a rarely used feature. It really became obvious how bad the official pro controller was once I started using my XBOX Elite 2 as my primary PC controller.. omg that thing is a joy to hold.. Now I can and will have both.

What pisses me off about the pro controller is that it costs so much and they can't even fix the fucking Dpad. Even when I bought the Xenoblade 2 version because I heard it had a better Dpad, I still had problems with it. When I try pressing down on the dpad it goes to the right instead, so I have to press it just right every time which is almost impossible during very hardcore gaming sessions where you have to press on the dpad fast and precisely. I'm definitely getting this controller. Fuck Nintendo for charging so much for their controllers but don't want to fix the dpad.

I actually prefer the way it's done with the Xbox controllers. I like that the chargeable battery pack just slots in to where the AAs go, so if it fails over time, I can just throw some AAs in it and still be fine or buy a new battery pack and easily swap it out. I hate when rechargeable batteries are built into expensive controllers that would be a pain to disassemble and replace.
