The earlier FJ40 had the upper hatch with the small split doors below. Newer ones had the full split rear doors and upgraded rear lights. This FMS missed a few things, the windshield "catches" on the hood are missing, the antenna is in the foot vent, and the rear side marker lights should be red. I had a brand new FJ40 in 1978... absolutely loved it!

Love that you are enjoying the FJ. You will love it on leaf springs. Single leaf front and main and long in the rear worked out great for me. The shocks don’t hold oil btw.

I did a mazda rz7 body on my first custom drift body....back fire...exposed inner cooler..roll bars..wing..all that.... When you go to superg and look at their body selection...it's insane at the possibility and potential for customizations....unlimited...

I have waaaaaay tooo many Hot wheels and Matchbox cars. The FMS FJ-40 is awesome. Upgrades: RAW 500 servo, big bore shocks 65mm, Mytrickrc headlights, tail lights, 2 light bars and flood lights. New wheels, new receiver and tons of 3d printed 1/6 (1/7) scale accessories. Headlight bulb removal takes a lighter, a scraper, a drill for 5mm bulbs and bulb backing to screw them in.

Glad to see the window rubber painted on the FJ! Makes a huge difference. I put the leafs from my spare Jimny on mine. I like it much better. Just need to sort some shocks (sans springs). They will have to be fairly short... I also plan on printing some rubber bumpers for the bumpers (say bumper one more time...) 😁.

When you get to episode 69 you’ll have to be working on the sand scorcher and Capra for sure! And try not to do too many innuendos along with it…😂 and that Land Cruiser is pretty cool too! I’ve got an old proline bushwacker body (before they got the license if you don’t know, it’s pretty sweet!) on an scx10 i cobbled together, complete with a chassis from an scx10 that had been run over by a 1:1, i call it my salvage title truck! 😂😂

(1:54) ...Maybe the "not-so-strong" magnets are intentional to allow for the "sah-weet" body/s to "give" upon even light- impact, so the fragile components, like your resin-wing/spoiler, has a better chance of not getting broke or "totalled". 🤔 For a crawler, or trailtruck, I would definetly want/need stronger magnets, but of course ultimately this depends upon application, as we all know, by experience !! 😉...👌✌️

- I have no idea what new body you will select, but if I got into drifting, besides my Gmade (GS02F) and Axial SCX10 II crawling addiction, I would drift with a Datsun 510 2-Door, from the old... ... (HPI) "Cup Racer" RTR, but I'm not sure that HPI will bring this one "back". 🤔...!!??? ...But it would be stellar if they did !!!! 😀🤞 - I do like FMS's new FJ40, looks pretty darn good !!! Although, I can never get passed the difference of the box-y & flat back-end, 😖 ...where the front looks asthetically pleasing !!! 👍
@duncancameron3759 Жыл бұрын
I like using velcro instead if magnets on any hardbodies I've done. Much harder to come off (especially while crawling). I have some 15lb outdoor stuff on my scx6 body and can almost lift it with only 3 spots.

My dad had a '77 Land Cruiser, it had barn doors, pretty sure that wasn't exclusive to Japan, living in Southern California, same place he bought it from. I had to get this one when i saw it, i got the blue one, same colors as dad's '77. The only thing that bummed me out was the back end having the short doors and hatch, especially since it's always popping open! Lol

I love that RC4WD tire on there so much I just ordered a set as well. Any suggestions on wheels that are more period correct? Wheel and tire choice is an automatic plus for this. Tires are spot on, imo. I assume you're not going for the stock pizza cutters on steels with moon hubcaps look. Good. What leaf spring setup are you going to use? RC4WD? Boom Racing? What's the shock length? Keeping it scale with Bilsteins-ish ones? It will be cool to watch this one over time.
