@@ipurelike Watch Battlefield 3, 4 on old consoles and come back to this video and think about how weak the processing power is on PS3 and compare that to this monster 4090 and see how little difference there is looking at this Black Myth Wukong games graphics, you should expect 50x more on paper against little old Battlefield but barely even 2X differences

What you are referring to is art direction, not photorealism. Some older games might be perceived more realistic due to artistic interpretations of photorealism but if you compare them side by side then games made with modern game engines using much more upto date tech such as using real-time G like lumen or path tracing (which is something used in offline renderer for the VFX/Animation industry) then you'd see how not photoreal the older games look. Since older game engines didn't have things like real-time GI and had many limitations, game devs often used various physics breaking tricks and add lights in unrealistic positions to make things appear realistic. This game is also a game about fantasy/mystical story and character, so I'm sure the devs weren't going for maximum photorealism. Optimization is not the problem here, that makes games run better, not look better. And it's also made by a company that's not only tiny compared to studios who made those games you mentioned, but Game science has never made a PC/Console game before, only mobile games, so it's way more impressive, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt of improving it with updates in the future since this game has no microtransactions or paid day one DLC or any other shady business techniques that exist in pretty much every new game.
