I’m speechless. This is beyond impressive, if only FromSoft had something like this in game. The only thing I could think to even dream of is maybe through mods we can get a similar fight with Godwyn. In conjunction if there were a way to mod certain quests to align your outcome on who you face in the end that could even be a neat addition to mould the game to your narrative. Though having said this you’ve all done an incredible job so far and deserve a pat on the back.

Man the fact that the entire base game miquella lore was him trying to cure/save his sister. It wouldve ended so nicely if we got unalloyed gold malenia as soon as he ascends to godhood. Her and godwyn got shafted in the DLC fr (altho i do think godwyn was miquellas first choice for consort, explains castle sol pretty well). These cutscenes and designs are tight tho. I wish theyd leaned into the whole "Its actually Mohgs body" thing more in the radhan fight beyond a blood move or two. This slaps.

My theory is that Godwyn was originally supposed to be the flesh sacrifice, but couldn’t be used because his corpse won’t die. Hence why Miquella was trying to grant him a true death. Mohg was the backup.

Gonna be completely honest, I love this. Feels a lot like soul of cinder to me. Diverse moveset, player sized enemy so no camera problem, weapon switching and parry? Like this a lot more than Radahn. Wished for some Malenia content in DLC, like her defending the gate right before Miquella where we fight leda and such. Would be better than an invasion type of boss there.

That invasion 3v5 was my second favorite fight in the DLC, after Messmer. The payoff of each character's storyline in a massive bloodbath was a really unique and cool idea for a Souls game.

This fight has major issues, hp steal on the top, camera still causes many problems with big attacks and the ones that pass through a player. Looks like this fight would be just as bad as valkyrie in god of war on hard difficulty: instead of grand and cinematic it would present itself as annoying.

I do genuinely love this. I think it's a really awesome take on the potential of this fight. Especially the cutscenes they're an AWESOME touch. I think the only criticism I have is that it lacks like, the "dance" aspect of fighting Malenia. (For lack of a better word) In her in-game fight a lot of her attacks blend together and can combo out of nowhere where this fight feels like a bunch of individual attacks. Or in the actual fight, when you get close to her after shes just walking slowly to bait you, she'll dodge to a side to avoid your possible attack and then begin a combo. I do understand doing something like that would be INCREDIBLY difficult though and i think this would be a really fun fight and is animated well and the hit boxes seem a lot more forgiving than in the actual game. Awesome job to you and whoever else may have made this!

You can see it especially in her first phase where she’s downright _feral._ As for her second phase, she may have her lucidity back, but it also came with a whole new suite of powers and armaments to work with. So it may be that she lost a fair amount the sheer skill and nuance she once possessed, and even then that might have been temporary had we, the player, not been tasked with slaying her. It’s basically Sword Saint Isshin VS Old Isshin again.

I do like the idea of having malenia being the final boss of the dlc better than radahn, but I feel like the main problem would be that you would have to then beat malenia instead to play the dlc. And I could imagine that would piss of a lot of people that struggled with her fight and are now on ng+ whereas radahn and mohg can be reached quickly and both have cheese strats

I’ll be honest, Radahn is a better fight than this. Its creative and kinda cool, but phase 1 is janky and erratic and phase 2 is janky and slow. Also a boss that can be backstabbed? Thats an idiotic idea, and FromSoft learned that all the way back when they made Gwyn parryable.

Just look at the DS3 Convergence mod everyone likes to compare this channel’s stuff to (At one point there was a Soul of Cinder redo that gave the Soul Old Isshin’s moveset. It wasn’t all that warmly received, even if everyone DID agree it was very impressive on a technical level, so they revamped it again into a supercharged version of the Soul’s proper phase 2.)
