Great video! One other point to note is that insta360 (on their website) say NOT to use the faster UHS-II cards. Only UHS-I recommended. So, this eliminates the faster V60 and V90 cards, since I think those are all UHS-II. Not sure why they do this, since the UHS-II cards are supposed to be backwards compatible. But, it's an important point.

Great vid! Wow so far, I am not having great luck at all myself. SanDisk Extreme Pro in 64GB and 128GB sizes that I have had for a while and, 128GB fails due to "slow record speeds". 64GB is hit and miss. Grabbed a brand new 256GB and, same issue "slow speed, record failed". Quick format, Full format, formatting on a computer and in camera, so far no changes. How odd! I am able to record by dropping to 5.7k, standard bitrate.

Are you sure that all cards are newest version (min. V30) and are genuine. Always format in camera. Not sure what else to suggest.

@@ttl_channel Newest versions yep (especially the one purchased a few days ago). Quite certain they are legit (and they all work great in GoPro 7s and 10s, GoPro Fusion and a Mavic 2). The only thing I could see and seems odd but, SanDisk does list "action cams" on the Extreme cards but not on the Extreme Pro cards. Seems odd that Pro would not work but, suppose I will try a standard extreme and see what happens! And thanks again for the vid! (And if the Extreme fails I will grab one of your listed "go to" cards!)

Yes, the X4 will accept up to a 1TB card. The model I tested was the “Extreme” (amzn.to/4cBlxrj) but I also have good experience with the Samsung Pro Plus (amzn.to/4cnitii).

I used to use Lexar for my SLR. as nowadays difficult to get it at my country, have change to the black colour Sandisk Extreme Pro, and works very well. from my experience, I recommend do not use same card for different devices. on one of my hiking trip, I lost my footage due to this mistake.

Lexar is the best, I have a stack of corrupted San Disk, and a few other brands with bad sectors, but all my Lexar cards are operational

I have Samsung Evo plus V30 white card and camera sometimes says it's too slow and stops recording.

The Evo Plus is more focused on gaming and apps. As a V30 card, it should work for video also, but probably better to use a card that has video as it’s main focus.

I have different results for the 512 GB version of the SanDisk Extreme. The Insta360 x4 said "recording stopped due to insufficient SD card speed" after about 20 min at 8k 30fps. FYI, the conditions were somewhat low light and temperature in the high 80's, with airflow between 10 and 70 mph. The last several minutes of the video were corrupted, with a huge black gash in the stitch line. There's no indication that the card is bad according to benchmarks I've run.

I would get something better than the sandisk extreme if youre planning on doing 8k or 5.7 60 frames for longer than 25mins at a time. This card will cut you off at this point. Card is fine, but seems a lot of people are having this issue. 5.7k 30 frames is fine. I have the 512 256 and 128. 256 in x4 for daily use, but was planning on going 1tb, but glad i didnt yet. Looks like sandisk extreme pro 1tb is my next attempt.

Seems that people are getting mixed results. I had no problem recording in all modes with the Extreme, and some others have reported issues with the Pro version from the outset.

Bear in mind this notice from the Insta360 site: “Notice: Do not use UHS-II/UHS-III microSD/TF cards, or memory cards larger than 1TB. These cards are not compatible and may cause issues while recording.” Bigger/faster might not always be better.

I’ve had issues with my x4 and the sandisk extreme. I’m going to try the sandisk pro next. I get errors where the x4 says write speed is too slow (even after a reformat). This happens on longer videos (over 5 min). I’m on a moving kayak, not sure if vibrations are an issue.

I'm using a Lexar 1tb card I used in my x3. It isn't fast enough for the x4. I use the v30 3 A2 XC 1. I had to purchase this card for the x3 because all my other cards were too slow. In the x4 I can record more than 30 seconds before I receive the card too slow message. Wth? I place that card back in the x3 and it works perfect. What am I doing wrong?

Did you try anything using the High Bitrate option in the image settings? Kinda seems like maybe all of it was… but I’ve got a prograde v60 card and when I record at 8k 30 (highest option) it always stops about three minutes in and says that the card is slow. Confused.

All my tests were done using high bitrate. I suspect your V60 card is UHS-II, which might be the problem
