I truly think, as a 70s kid who loved the original series, that this is how the original Enterprise was always meant to be seen. Beautiful and majestic, and that clip that nods to Voyager's opening sequence over the ice moon........genius

As a 1980s kid, I agree wholeheartedly, that this is how the Enterprise was always meant to be, but the budget and the effects technology of the 1960s meant we got what we did for the Original Series, at that time.

I feel like this is exactly what Gene Roddenberry would have done for the opening if he had the money and technology back then. You can see it as the TOS opening on steroids, but the same spirit of it is there - that glorious ship braving the stars and speeding toward adventure in all of its forms. It hits all the most enjoyable points of the show's spirit and really seems like it's the ultimate Star Trek opening sequence. Absolutely exceptional in all regards.

Having watched TOS when it originally aired, and every Star Trek live-action show, this is, by far, my most favorite Opening Title Sequence. Agreed. I’ve been watching since 1969 and this is my absolute favourite title sequence - narration and all. The music uplifts me and makes me cry. It’s just beautiful. The series for me is the best since TOS and I love Anson Mount as Pike. Please can the team ret-con “the chair”. I know that’s sacrilege in some quarters but I really love Pike. @@ElysiumCreator There's no pleasing 'the grandfather Trekkers'. If it isn't Kirk, it's crap. I love the series. I loved eight of the ten episodes, but the other two are growing on me. This series has more life to it, especially with the characters. Pike has a sense of humor. He calls his bridge crew by their names. not always their ranks. True they are not always following 'canon' but that's what makes the show so damn interesting. Who cares that Uhura was never on this ENTERPRISE. Okay we meet a different Kirk in command of another starship. So they have a different doctor. JUST ENJOY THE DAMN SHOW AND GET OVER IT!!!!

So has anyone ever noticed that on the Enterprise the Broussard collectors that are located at the front of the nacelle, those collectors generate large electromagnetic fields that attract the hydrogen gas found in interstellar space which is then used for fuel by the vessel's fusion reactors. They rotate in opposite directions. Just as they did in TOS.

Yeah, and in some novels such as work by Larry Niven there's a ship type known as a "Bussard Ram-jet". I imagine it to be a long inline cylinder with a magnetic ramscoop ar the front and crew compartment built around a central cylinder with some instruments and thrusters attached to a truss.

Jeff Russo has done an amazing job calling back to Alex Courage's iconic original theme while creating a truly new and unique, dynamic melody and rhythm. I thought the slight variant arrangement sounded familiar. It is closer to Dominic Frontere's "Squadron Fanfare" he wrote as incidental music for 12 O'clock High in 1963/64. Courage's choral progression for ST is likely borrowed from that contemporary composer as they used the same recording studios in the 60s. I don't think it was original, but Frontere never publicly protested. He had more famous works and probably made a lot more than Courage. I think this looks and sounds good, telling you you are going to see good cinematography in this series.

Reminds me of the Series "Lost". Reeks of JJ. I mean, its his show, he can do what he wants with it. Roddenberry, and Berman could never get it as glitzy as this. We'll see how it turns out. Oh, here's a definite show idea...ok hear me out: Anson Mount, "Pike" has a transporter accident that sends him 90 years into the future, and he materializes on the transport pad of DS9. At the same moment Miles O'Brien is performing a routine de-gauzing of the pad emitters. The pattern buffers kinda mess with their forms a little, and the time-circuit flips them back to 1879, Nevada Territory, where they find themselves working for; Federated Atlantic/Pacific Trans-Continental Rail Company. They instantly hate each other because O'Brien takes the Identity of a R/R business owner a**hole named Durant, and Pike becomes a High Plains Drifter gunslinger, civil war vet named Bohannon, seeking revenger on, "the yankee that done kilt his wife". He works for Durrant as a R/R scout. Hilarity, and adventure ensues over their misadventures called, "Hell on Wheels". Comedy escalates especially when Mr. Saru, from Discovery, has the same transpoter accident, & materializes as a 6'9" Norwegian, double barreled-sawed-off shotgun weilding railroad enforcer called, "tha' Sweede". Oh the comedy! Definitely Must see TV.

The larger the screen, the more perceived details the brain can extract from near to reality like frame rates. It also makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience. All depending on the content of course. Some things are made for 24fps. But while nearly every movie is shot this way, most of the time the content is not suited for 24p.

I thought the slight variant arrangement sounded familiar. It is closer to Dominic Fronteri's "Squadron Fanfare" he wrote as incidental music for 12 O'clock High in 1963/64. Courage's choral progression for ST is likely borrowed from his contemporary composer. I don't think it was original, but Fronteri never publicly protested.
