My condolences to the widow and children of this officer. But equally I offer my condolences to the other person killed. I don't understand why we place the value of a police officer's life above an ordinary citizens life. Both are human beings. Both died in this tragedy. The news networks need to place equal emphasis on the lives of all human beings. I for one am praying for them all.

Absolutely true, regular citizens are equally valuable. Of course police do a very important function. This officer even got a special procession of officers using public funds to honor him. The story said he was not in a police vehicle when this happened, but I presume his personal vehicle. There is excessive expense by taxpayers to conduct these parades and this one is most likely not his last special escort.

​@@biketothetopyou sure they use public funds? My local department has a "memorial foundation" that officers pay into and can receive donations. And those funds are used for things like that, or if an officer gets hurt etc.

Alot of departments have an Honor Guard, and they loan those individuals out to other agencies for events / funeral professions like this. Are you upset that agencies have things setup like this for officers that are killed? Although he was not working at the time of this death, I do believe he had just finished his shift and was on his way home

I almost did once. It was the middle of the night in Washington state, I got off the freeway to get gas, and went to get back on the freeway, the onramp and offramp entrance and exits were right next to each other, and I took the wrong one. I noticed the "onramp" was looping the opposite way I expected it to and realized my mistake before I actually got into the freeway lanes, and flipped a U-turn. I looked at the signage as I went back to get in the right place and it was severely lacking. Close call.

This happened 1230AM. Very few cars on that road. I think the wrong way driver was drunk, or he/she was on drugs. I think the wrong way driver died.

Drugs or alcohol. Things need to change in our transportation in the USA . Because this happens just to often. They need to put spike strips for entrance and exits on the freeway because people can’t drive responsibility

You know it bothers me how this officer is getting so much attention and help. But when the father who called for help, with his 15yr old daughter was in the home, got nothing. Every person life is valuable, no matter what they do for a living. But here's a police officer postion who has a tendency to screw up an arrest, and the families get nothing. There's something wrong with this picture. Why is it that these people get that extra help. But when there in the wrong. They find away to justify it. I'm just saying. We're all entitled to our opinions. I just find it strange that people think it's okay to see this as if others no matter what they do for a living. That these people are held at a different level.
