I know this comment is 7 years after the original upload, but in this pandemic, you are the kind of teacher every student wants. Your passion for the subject, your care for the students, and your command of the teaching of language arts is commendable and admirable. As someone who aspires to become an English teacher at the secondary level, you exemplified the kind of teacher I want to be. Thank you.

Loved that all students were engaged. This is a good video of a well & established classroom. You didn’t leave any room for disconnections , you gave great real life examples as you taught and gave time for students to think, connect, & respond. This video is a clear example of your hard work & classroom expectations throughout the year from your students. You rock!

Wow! The use of technology is also really inspiring -- I certainly did not have such great tools at such a young age! Nor did I have teachers so enthusiastic about literature! She explains it all so well! Lucky kids.

I must applaud your efforts to get your students to understand that everyone of them are intelligent. Maybe not in the same way, but in their own way. You bought to the table in your lesson something that many educators try to sweep under the rug. School is predominately set up to reach a certain audience. Which is most likely visual and auditory learners. You start to see less of teaching techniques for tactile learned after the elementary level. But you backed it up by quotes and by your own experiences, that everyone is unique and can learn if they put in the work. From a aspiring educator in History Secondary Education, well done!

Wow! I'm watching this video right now just in awe of how engaging you are with your students! It's so empowering to see the way you speak and relate to them, and especially your teachings on different ways of showing intelligence. As an undergraduate student who is studying education - I am reminded of the reason I want to become a teacher through your example! All the best, thank you for sharing a lesson from your classroom!

I loved observing ELA classes when I was an instructional leader at the campus and district levels. It definitely helped me to incorporate more literacy components when I returned to the classroom. Thanks for sharing this!

I love your encouragement to the students. I also like that you incorporate technology with the class, like asking them to find definitions.

That quote means If you set a high expectation for a person or anything they will feel overwhelmed and knowing they can't do it makes them feel like a failure.

I wish my kids would let me talk like that in class. At my school I would not be able to get one word out. Kids would be talking, cussing, getting on phones...not sitting there like that...unless she told them she was video taping . But they are a great group of students. She talked the whole time! Wow!

I'm in 8th grade now. I'm in a different school from this but, instead of apple computers we use "chrome books" a google computer provided by the school that we can't bring home.
