Solid build that should hold up for quite a few years. I love that you feed him using a good bowl 😃. I have 2 comments. 1) Those coil UVB bulbs are garbage, don't waste your money on them. They're really intense up close but don't do anything about 5 inches away. Arcadia T5 HO lights are the best lights available for a reasonable price. 2) Monitors get burns from basking too long under improper basking temps, not from going from low ambient temp to the basking spot. If your ambient temp is low they'll just bask more frequently. If the basking lights are too intensely focused the monitor will burn. If the basking spot temp is too low the monitor will bask for really long periods of time.

Yo, DUDE! 8/4/4 JUST ROCKS! Lucky Argus, man. And one HUGE THANK YOU for the movement and behavior. Nobody else does that. When I go to the zoo, I don't just go to watch the maintenance. I like watching what the animals do when they're on their own. That's part of the fun. So thank you dude! I'm hooked on your channel now. Watching the evolution of the environment is going to be awesome!

Enclosure looks great finally someone who gives em deeper substrate! Only thing is that UV coil is not going to do anything, especially at that distance. You can test it using UV measurement strips but I'd change it for a mercury vapour bulb.
@ks_monitors7640

Those mercury vapor bulb’s are better for smaller reptiles not the best for large sized monitor lizards they don’t cover enough area plus I have a 24 inch Arcadia uvb tube that I upgraded to haven’t made a updated post but I will soon.

Wow you really put alot of work into this Bro! You can really tell that you study the needs and wants of this creature to ensure that he has what he needs and is cared for adequately. I would’ve left him right in a kiddie pool 🤣

Hey, thanks for posting, I made a 2400 X 900 X 800 for my python I had at the time. I found it was to big and the python would just stay in its hide. I am building another one 2000 X 600 X 800 its going well and I will be installing a huge water retreat so I will be putting a level above the water for an extra basking area. I have the same thoughts, I don't like small enclosures but sometimes its what the animal likes to feel secure. I will post my build soon along with the big girl

Awesome size. I dont see a cool area if the enclosure. I think u haould look into heat emitters instead if so many bulbs, also get better uvb bulbs, those arent as efficient as tubes

Hey man! I think you should go check out more of my newer videos! Everything that you pointed out has already been tweaked. 🙌🏽 I use multiple lower watt flood lights to not only heat the entire enclosure but to also maintain healthy temperatures and levels of humidity throughout the day/ night. He does have a cool spot beneath his basking spot, since it’s elevated. The entire other half of the enclosure, where his water vessel is (about 4 feet in total) is also a cool spot. Another fun fact is that I insulated the enclosure and also run a singular heat emitter 24/7. I did this because, in my experience, heat emitters are not as effective for heating when used in larger enclosures. I use my emitter, plus the insulation, for a small boost to maintain proper ambients (85 to 88 degrees) but that’s about it. There’s no way that I’d be able to heat an enclosure of this size with only a few floods. Trust me, trial and error has taught me this lesson. Even at a higher wattage, if I used less bulbs, I wouldn’t be able to heat the entire enclosure and it would also lead to me compromising basking space. Charmander is over 4 feet long so he needs to be able to heat his entire body length without being cramped under a few bulbs and without his tail hanging off. Not to mention, I have a misting system to keep my humidity where it needs to be. This is another reason why I use so many bulbs; it’s all about balance when it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere for a reptile to thrive in. I understand how it can look like a lot but trust me…there’s a method to my madness and my ability to maintain what works best for Chamander. 🤙🏽

@@ks_monitors7640 right on for taking such good care of your animal. Few take it to the level you have, serious props for doing the best u can to give Charmander a rad life. Been doing snakes for decades, and I've only seen one person do a monitor correctly and he had an entire bedroom. I want a 4*2*6 and they just dont exist so I am looking for ideas to build one

@@mrmouse-ol9pw yessir! I got some years under my belt I’ve seen more bad than good in the reptile community unfortunately. But as for me the sky is the limit this 8x4x4 is temporary & only the beginning. Bigger and better to come🙏🏽
