In this video we are going to move my Argus Monitor - Panoptes horni into her crazy, huge reptile enclosure which I made her previously. It has everything a reptile lizard needs, artifical/fake rocck background, hides, water to swim in and a nice basking area. She can be happy for the rest of her life here ... enjoy! :)
If you like DIY projects check out how I made this cage:

I’m happy to see you posting videos again and love your new addition to your family. They truly are amazing monitors and have always been a huge fan of them. I’m truly sorry about your loss idk what I’d do if I lost my Savannah monitors I’d definitely be devastated idk if your interested but I have 65 Savannah monitor eggs in my incubator right now and when they hatch I’d love to possibly give you one or two if your interested. I’ve been posting videos of the progress and rest of my collection if you want to check them out. Let me know

WoW thank you so much pumpkin&chow! You are way too kind :) I just feel I'm not ready for another big reptile since the old savannah enclosures will be occupied but I will definitely check your vides out. Gz for the savannah clutch btw, not many people can achieve that.

@@projectpet7828 I figured specially with a new baby Argus but I want to find great homes for my babies and I can see your very passionate and love your reptiles so naturally I had to ask you and yea this would be the 3rd clutch of eggs from my one pair and I believe I’m one of the only ones to intentionally breed Savannah monitors and get fertile eggs in America at least from what I could find online. But my goal since I started over 20 years ago was to try and lower the amount of Savannah monitors taken from the wild so this is just the beginning. I’m trying to find other hobbyists that want the same and I’d be willing to give them to them if they are willing to breed them for future generations of captive bred babies. If you know anyone please send them my way I also have my email link in all my videos along with Instagram. I’m not looking to get rich just want them to help the species grow and stop wild collection and meet awesome like minded people

What are the dimensions of this enclosure? I’m trying to decide between a male ackie and a female Argus and want to make sure if I go for the Argus I can provide enough space.

80 cm depth 70 cm height 210 cm width. This is enough for an average sized female but you can be surprised how big these gals can get sometimes.

Such an amazing setup brother, I am looking at getting my first monitor soon! What would you recommend? I want somethin that gets mid sized, so bigger than Ackies. I am thinking about Varanus Melinus (Quince Monitor) But these argus monitors look so dang fun.

Are argus monitors a good animal to "play" and interact with? Or is a tegu better for that?
@projectpet7828
@projectpet7828 3 жыл бұрын
If you want to interact with your animal and as you said "play" with it Argus Monitor is something I wouldn't advice to buy. They are extremely high strung animals, their food drive is through the roof almost all the time, you really need to read your animal well if you want to avoid getting bitten. You need 50 times more effort to tame down an Argus than a Tegu.

@@projectpet7828 well put they definitely are a handful but with plenty of work and dedication anything is possible. But I’d definitely look into a calmer monitor to start with

@@pumpkinchow I would just start with the argus. My first reptile I started with is a dwarf caiman. And those are really feisty. Just read about them. With time you will understand the animal. The bite won’t kill you lol. I even made the caiman tame. Goodluck!
