Let's not forget the Officers of the Port Authority. My Cousin, Maurice V. Barry was a Supervisor with the Port Authority Police. He left his Office in Jersey as soon as he heard the first plane hit. He wanted to help. He went into Tower 2 to help get People out, when it went down, he went down with it. He left behind his Wife and 2 Sons, and of course all the many people he was always helping out. He was helping to support his Nephews, who had lost their Father. We all kept waiting for weeks, hoping he might be found, until we just had to face the facts that the person we were hoping might experience a miracle, had not. There was never anything to bury, no part of his earthly self was left. Everyone always remember the Fire Fighters, and they should be, but lets not forget that the Port Authority was there too.

@frenesimyers1895 I live in Kansas City. I was at work on 9/11 when this happened. I was a Federal employee working for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Human Resources at the time. A co-workers wife called him and said a big airplane had hit the World Trade Center and the damage was bad. I sat next to him, but all I heard him say was WHAT?? He told me, then went to tell our boss. Our boss then went to find a TV for our office to watch the news about it. All of us sat there watching it all unfold in disbelief. Not long after that Pres. Bush ordered all Federal employees in Federal buildings to go home because he knew by then it was a Terrorist attack. Bush didn't know how many Terrorists there were at the time or planes involved, so he didn't know if they would attack Federal buildings randomly throughout the US. I went home and immediately turned on the TV watching this Horror in front of me all night in shock. I do remember the news people talking quite a bit about the large number of Port Authority Officers and employees who were killed. So in the beginning they did talk a lot about the Port Authority and how many were killed. You're right though, since then they haven't talked about the Port Authority employees as much as the Firefighters and Policemen. I will never forget that day, and every year since then I have watched the news coverage of it again and again and listen to the testimony of the survivors. When I heard about the attack on Israel on October 7th I also thought about this event against the US. all I could do as a civilian for both of these tragedies was cry and I'm still crying. That is why I stand with Israel today over the tragic event they went through because of Terrorists. We have got to rid the entire world of these barbaric people not only of Hamas terrorists but all terrorists in the world😢😢😢

My heart hurts for his children who lost their dad especially for his wife who lost the love of her life. No one deserves that I hope she found love and peace especially by keeping his memory alive in such a beautiful and honorable way. I’ve seen an interview of a woman crying so hard that day saying she spent her whole life looking for her husband and finally found him only to have to spend the rest of her life looking for him again because he was never found in the rubble. Her words stuck with me since then. That hollowness and pain will never end for her.

So good. Though I hope one day soon people start honoring Keith Roma, part of NYFP who constantly worked hand and hand with the NYFD who also died on September 11th helping people, his body was found by eight others who he was trying to help. He saved over 200 people that day. He received a FDNY funeral, but is constantly forgotten. It should read 344 FDNY firefighters killed. Never Forget is the motto yet they forget him.

On 9/11 I lived in Park Slope. Squad 1 was the fire house in my neightborhood and 12 firefighters from that station died in the WTC. It was so shocking and sad what happened. I remember that I joined a vigil the Saturday evening following 9/11, it was a large group of people in front of the fire house. Siller family seems to have found a really productive way to cope with their loss. May all those innocent people who lost their lives that day be in peace and reunite with their loved ones in the after life.

Today is August 26th, 2023. As I relive this horrific and needless tragedy, twenty-two years later, I can’t help but wonder how many times the phrase ‘Oh my God’ was repeated on that day. I also wonder who the individuals were who repeated it. Many were Christians, perhaps not church going but brought up by Christian parents, many were Catholic, whether practicing or lapsed, some were of Jewish descent and so on. I would bet that the name of God was invoked that day by even atheists, although they would deny that ….. if they were even aware that their lips spoke his name. All the comments suggest that America will never forget that day and perhaps that’s true. We will never forget the horror, the anguish, the helplessness, the vulnerability of a supposed great nation …….. and when the dust finally settled ….. the anger. What we do seem to have forgotten is the camaraderie, the feeling that we were all equal, all deserving of help and comfort and the unselfish giving of whatever was within our means to help our fellow Americans. Many were heroes that day to one extent or another, many giving their own lives in the aftermath for their fellow men and women. We all were givers that day, whether we were in New York City or anywhere around the world, simply because as we watched the horrific film footage of that terrible day, we mourned together, we comforted one another wherever we were. We all have had a loved one die and wondered in our grief why the world was still going about its business. Why it was still even turning, why the sun was coming up and going down as though no one else felt the immense burden of pain that was on our shoulders that day. Well this, this was the day in history that the world did come to a stand still, the day everyone was feeling the shock and horror and everyone was grieving for people we did not even know. Sadly, this is the part we seem to have forgotten and out of respect for all the people who died that day, who essentially lost their lives so that America could feel what God wants us to feel for one another, we must try to remember that feeling. It is the only good thing that came from that beautiful sunny day on September 11th, 2001 when the world came to a brief standstill.

After seeing the towers down etc I was in the army at the time I wanted to go so Bad being both and the innocent people that lost their lives our company is Heavy Combat Engineers and well we where activated on call but we didn't Go, but yes we still have to protect Americans and well today I will never forget! ❤ 2023 and I always tell the junior new Firefighters, about the bravery the NYFD had that day as well as I do . At 54 now I would love to do that Run . That worst day and the greatest day of America history.❤ btw am a Volunteer firefighter 35 yrs retired and a coffee,cold drink ,a sandwich and a Ty and $7.50 overnight pay I gave to my company for gear etc .was my reward but saving a life or pet or property I never asked for there insurance etc . Thats the only thuth that comes from the towers it shows heros but its just like what happen in Australia Tasmania the port arther masiker it wasn't done by one man the government was involved And for the towers everyone that doesn't think it was a inside job why would they remove every single video of the towers coming down and i will tell you why they removed them because it shows that explosive were used you could see puffs of smoke coming out of the floor below just before it drops building it took me hours to find actual good footage of it coming down (7 revealed! the truth about 9/11 and what really happened)
@aubsarg02224 ай бұрын
What ppl fail to talk about is a lot….. luckily I know ppl involved, and can keep the stories alive. However, I will comment, that one man miraculously was above the fire zone. He got out and like a ninja, started working his way down the building. From the outside!!! He made it 6 stories before the tower collapsed. If those towers weren’t taken down (bc we all know that was a demolition whether our government or not) along with building 7, so many would still be alive.
