Although most people rate the new zone Zereth Mortis and the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid is giving us a thrilling Race To World First on Mythic, there has been anger around the defeat of the Jailer and ending of the story, the Mal'ganis dreadlord "retcon", the timegating on features like the Cypher of the First ones and Creation Catalyst and other story elemts. @@SabreJ The idea of the theory was that the Primus took over the role of Jailer to keep Zovaal from being able to achieve his reality dominating plot, Sylvanas was working for the Primus, and that Zovaal being the opportunist who can think on his feet would trick us into doing the classic trope of "Good job breaking that, Hero" to get him free so that he could do his plot.

Im so happy to see someone else recommend this idea - I've been saying it since I first did Torghast. WoW doesn't make use of their legacy content - there are literally 50 raids just sitting there. It would be so cool to make them replayable via Roguelike/Torghast anima power type mechanics. Change it up, make it fun, cosmetics are the reward!

I don’t accept that Alandien was Kin’tessa. You cannot convince me that ILLIDAN and the entire Illidari army all failed to use Spectral Sight on her even once before she entered a position of trust like that. Vashj is said to be able to spot Nathrezim because Illidan taught her. It makes no sense unless everyone in the past is just remarkably stupid, and I’m tired of accepting all the characters being so stupid. Maybe she corrupted Alandien, or tricked us into killing Alandien when she was good actually, or whatever. But she did not manage to infiltrate an army of the one group of people who specifically can see through that kind of deception which happened to be led by the most paranoid mortal in existence.

If you actually watched the video, you would know that Taliesin covered this. You do realize that just because a Dreadlord disguises themselves as someone doesn't mean that they're permanently a Dreadlord, right? A Dreadlord can literally take on any form that they want at any time and for any amount of time. I've also always thought that a DH's spectral sight is too OP anyways. I'm sure there is magic powerful enough to subvert it.

Also, we know Dreadlords when they die (or are defeated) turn either into pool of bats (and sometimes leave shoulderpads behind) or turn into their Dreadlord form and teleport away. They dont become corpses. So it's not like we have actually fought them in shape-shift form accidentally and not noticed. It also would not make sense because why in the world would a Dreadlord defend a demon hunter who's trying to destroy the Burning Legion? Yeah, it was just a funny gimmick 100%.

my problem with the lord of dread encounter is that it's obviously, as has been pointed out, the devs using the code for transmorpher beacon and applying it to the bosses because it's cool. and i agree. it's cool. it's fun. but when we're in an expac where Dreadlords infiltrating everything is so predominant in the lore, you cant do something like that just because it's cool, and fun, without thinking about its lore implications, which seems to be the case. (though the reaction from the community is way out of proportion, but imo that's mostly because of how much everyone is on edge with the "quality" of the writing atm)

What I think is missing is the "real" 9.2 zone and raid that would have taken us into Thros, the Blighted Lands, with its connections to the Emerald Nightmare and the Shadowlands. After all, the Drust are known for their death magic. We might have possibly seen an example for a "failure" in the "5000-IQ"-plan of the Jailor when he tried to use the Drust to do his bidding on Azeroth, only to be beaten by the settlers on Kul Tiras and the Thornspeakers. Maybe the Jailor wanted the Drust to feed death magic directly into Azeroth's world soul, just like the Nathrezim were doing to Argus, but failed on that end. The Jailor possible gave the Drust "a second chance" to invade Ardenweald - the one realm the was affected last (or least) by the anima drought and with the strongest connection to the cycle of life and death through the Winter Queen and (her sister) Elune, only to fail again in the "real" 9.2 raid. Or maybe the Jailor had given up on the Drust after their first failure, but the Drust didn't want to take "no" for an answer. Total speculation, but I think it's a reasonable one since the Drust are otherwise utterly pointless in Ardenweald. I know that Blizz has frequently abandoned storylines for no good reason and made us think "well, that went nowhere", but this appears to be extreme even by those standards.

The other one is the side-quest in Ardenweald that has the Gorm eating the soul of a world-god and this being a "bad thing", but, like the Devourers in ZM, this story goes nowhere.

I enjoy zereth mortis as a zone, however I feel as though the main quest has no sense of urgency. At the end of the last raid, we need to hurry before the jailer reaches the sepulcher. Like it’s this critical thing we need to race to make sure he doesn’t succeed, and we get there and we’re hanging out with peaceful brokers, talking to cute robots, killing a few dreadlords and devourers, learning this ancient language, listening to uther talk about his special moment with sylvanas, like come on, aren’t we on a bit of a time crunch before the end of the universe happens? I feel like the missions have the wrong touch, it needs to feel more like a fight for the universe, not exploring this neat little world we found.

I understand the gripes about the Cypher timers. On my end, the one thing that worked for me is that the timers gave me a buffer period to get enough currency to actually buy the next tier of upgrade. I likely would have been frustrated if I just had to get currency for each tier, feeling like I was racing against time instead of the lax path around ZM every day.

I'm just glad that on alts the time is reduced to seconds. It did allow me, as I had each of my main crafters trying to hit Honored to get the Patterns for Crafter's mark IV/Rank 7 legendary, to run each column in parallel after the first row was done.

My first tiny one was most awesome. She slept through the night in under 3 months. She LOVED the swing and was generally a quiet and easy baby. Boy child that came next? he was walking at 8 months. That boy was determined to go 100 miles per hour everywhere he went. got into everything. Sandworn relic gear just feels like a big step back for Blizz given how it feels like a repeat of the mistakes made during the beginning of Shadowlands where if you weren't focusing on mythic 0 dungeons to get the best gear, then you were just wasting your time with anything else, especially crafted gear. I am Still rolling over the fact I wasted so much time leveling my engineering and all the resources, just to quickly replace the headpiece I made with a better one from a mythic dungeon I just so happen to get soon after.

Zereth Mortis is fun and beautiful. Loving the Jiro's song language. Even the flying, however surprising it's to be knocked down, is adding some spice to the area. As a casual, it's great and, sorry, so is the rest of this expansion. Cypher time allows for new surprises each time you unlock something. If we had all on day 1 it would be 'boring' 4 weeks later. Using the campaign generous unknown tokens to max out all covenants on each avatar and having fun using different class benefits. Would love some tier or class sets for casual playing but heck so many mounts, pets, toys and looks to farm: what a hoot.

That chest bothered me for a while tbf but its actually pretty simple, just need to use Firims Spare Forge-Tap on the orbs around ZM til you get 15 Ephemera Strands, combine them, then you have a chance at the key dropping from the item it makes. Its a little annoying when you dont have it drop but with how often the daily quest pops up to make you do this anyway you should be getting them naturally over time, unless you wanna go borrow the item off Firim so you can spam it til the key drops.

While the initial timer on the Cypher is annoying, removing the timer for alts once it's researched on another character is fantastic. Once I was ready to start taking alts in (to get rep for crafting for legendaries and whatnot), when they first hit the Cypher, I was able to unlock several of the big timed unlocks (mostly to add more quests and the pet/mount crafting so those drops would start up for them), and now their cyphers go towards QOL stuff.

Sandworn Relic gear is intended as a way to target catch-up items, and as pure cosmetic in the long run (it's the only source of the purple Broker sets)

As a transmog set, locked behind a unique currency it's fine. Better than locking another appearance behind anima. Still, it doesn't make sense as catch-up gear. It's just oddly positioned, because it doesn't scale with your cypher research. Also, ZM floods you with gear. The item level is close enough to 252, that giving up the primary stat from ilvl in favor of optimal secondary stat allocation, might make sense. It really depends where your secondaries are at.

@@amartian2 hmm, then maybe as an alternative acquisition method? You could farm Cyphers, you could run M+... or you could hop on once a day to farm Elites and stuff in the desert area. Also important to not look at this merely from your main's PoV, you could get bored of Cypher farming on alts, you could only log in once in a while and somehow find yourself with enough Relics to buy a nice upgrade because your Cypher level is lagging behind.

I loved the little things you hated like pocopoc movement. i agree with cypher timers, the jailer's story and sandworn relics being useless though they did work for tier gear. i wish they had done torghast like you had suggested. I personally thought the zereth mortis story was good but had a couple of people think it was boring and worse than 9.1 story because it was less epic. this video i got 22 nightshade, 149 vigils torch and 193 deathblossom. i'm finally starting to catch with the videos

Man, I'm really happy that they've fixed a lot of the catch-up stuff. I'm glad to see them learning. But I gotta be honest, I don't have a single character at 80 and I really just don't want to. Mostly because I'm so disengaged from the story and don't want to do the Destiny-style endgame areas. I know I'm oversimplifying it, but if they fixed endgame progression and the story, they'll pull almost everyone back

The thing that killed Torghast is that Blizzard decided to kill the fun in pursuit of needless balance. Anima powers having caps, nerfing ones that were fun, condensing the experience because they made it mandatory. It's best iteration was Alpha, when there were no rewards, no floor limit, and no power limits. Just a fun zone to go get wacky OP with crazy abilities. Twisting corridors were better, but would have benefitted greatly from a removal of power caps and just improving terrible powers.

It might be a silly thing but this patch has made gathering fun again. For years it has felt like a chore because most nodes have mobs on top of them but with the buff that reduces agro range I've found my self just spending time gathering as a FUN activity again!

The provis key is annoying to farm each time it respawns, but to get it, you have to run around with one of Firim's devices that scans the orbs. Get q5 of the ephemeral wind things and it gives an item you can open, the srop rate from my experience is around 20%

i think my problem is that i like questing, roleplay, and worldbuilding, whereas the developers seem to think i need a character-driven marvel movie and 100 repetitive gameplay loops to keep me invested (yes im including mythic+ and raiding in that). im glad you had fun, but i feel like all the potential this xpac had to be a unique alien world (like outland) was absolutely ruined (like draenor) by how focused they were on doubling down on these features that have been slowly overtaking more and more of the game since cataclysm :(

I have watched almost all Taliesin and Evitel videos, not because I agree with them( most of the times, I actually don't) , but because I think in order to have an educated opinion about a matter, you need to hear both negative and overly positive sides of the argument. That being said, I haven't really left a lot of comments under their video, because, first I don't think any of them will change their view of the game, just because some random guy on the internet disagrees with them and second, it's really not my place to do so. However when I heard that he thinks Timeless Isle is not as good or worst than ZM, I just had to comment on that. As a person who have been playing the game for a really long time(longer than I would like to admit probably), sorry but even though ZM is a fine zone compared to the other ones we have gotten in this expansion, it's not even close to the level of activities you could do in Timeless Isle. Sorry for the wall of text and thank you for your time.

Glad that you enjoyed it. For me, I'm kind of tired of the timeless isle gameplay for each new patch and the current Korthia/Zereth iteration where you need to run, run, run to be able to loot a chest (or it will despawn) or kill a rare. Kinda ok that they basically removed the rep gain from rares now (but the rush! go! go! go! is still there), but don't understand why treasures/caches still aren't personal instead of this "SOMEONE CLICKED, GO SOLVE THE JUMPING PUZZLE AND CLICK, CLOCK IS TICKING!!!!". The place if a lot more enjoyable now with flying (since it helps with those "go! go! go! or it's gone!") and I really don't see a reason to not allow it right off since Blizzard shows in the same Zereth Mortis that they can actually develop puzzles for treasures/caches that aren't just "figure out how to climb there in less than a minute!!!".

Short story before I watch the video (title triggered this): I again couldn't find a proper guild to raid mythic with as a DPS so I rerolled to Holy Priest. I spent more than 10 hours only trying to get the legendary from Sanguine Depths. I still don't have it while already healing +8s with 230gs and I run nothing but Sanguine (including M0 every fresh ID). I have no idea why catch up mechanics in WoW always ignore at least 1 part of the most important mechanics necessary. Last Patch Domination Shards, first Patch Renown and since the start: Certain Legendary Powers. Edit: NVM I didn't unlock legendary crafting, which is why it didn't drop. I got the fae legendary because of Renown and thought I already unlocked it then. Now it dropped immediately.

Your remarks about Cocopop constantly removing his hats (and my experience of it) reminds me of the way companion pets used to disappear and have to be re-summoned every time your toon did ANYTHING. I think this was partly fixed in Cata and fixed better in Pandaria, and I collected pets but rarely had a pet out until it would stick around for a while.

Even more annoying is the bug since last Wednesday that makes your portrait disappear when you do any of the puzzle chests. This has got at least one player killed. I've still got to remember to test if this is a Bartender thing or a Blizzard UI thing, but its super-annoying having to /reload after every puzzle.

I started playing WoW back near the end of The Burning Crusade and WoW quickly became my favorite game. I’ve enjoyed, or at least found things to enjoy in, every expansion…until Shadowlands. I hate that I feel this way, but I just totally checked out a while ago. My computer crapped out at the end of BfA and so I didn’t start Shadowlands until close to a year after it was released, and I hit max level on only one character and haven’t really touched it since. I want to, and I want to find things in/about Shaowlands that makes me want to log in and play, but I just simply haven’t. My birthday is 18 April, and so I’m hoping that an amazing new expansion is announced on the 19th as a birthday gift and that it re-ignites my love of WoW. As much as I enjoy FFXIV I still believe that WoW is the superior game, definitely not story-wise, no, but combat in WoW feels so much faster and more enjoyable than XIV. But when I’m logging in I’m logging in to XIV and not WoW, and it kinda hurts my heart if I’m being honest. Man, I hope that they’ve (finally) learned from all of the things that they’ve done wrong, which we all know that they have, and knock it completely out of the park in the coming expansion. I want it to be so great that I don’t even think about XIV until Squeenix announces their next expansion. That reminds me, gotta re-download Guild Wars 2 and try out their new expansion; I’ve heard good things about it.

Think I'll be trying out Guild Wars 2 now. Never played it but you're not the first person I've seen talking about it today Edit: Two days later and I love it. Just the kind of personal paced mmo that I feel I need after WoW's endless gear treadmills. And can't believe I never saw anyone talking about it before, but HOT DAMN the mount animations are leagues ahead of any other mmo I've played. So fluid and bouncy.

Leveled one toon to 60, didn't do any endgame. Leveled another to 58 and quit him. I can't tell you how many 40-50 level toons I have now that I've played just to pass the time. I cannot bring myself to adventure in Shadowlands. There is nothing new, compelling or really interesting, and the whole "afterlife" and the stories involved range from silly to just terrible. Not all expansions are created equal but this is a new low. April 19th needs to be huge with evidence they're listening and getting things back on track.

I hate Zerith Mortis. I've never hated a zone before, i enjoyed the last zones in MoP, WoD, Legion, BFA. Yet i absolutly am not having any fun in Zerith Mortis. :(
