logging in and seeing the Lorderon splash screen, i literally fist pumped and cheered alone in my room. and then going and getting 3 awesome, character forward cinematics that were completely fresh was amazing. i actually paid attention to all the dialogue and the stay a whiles because it was the first time i was hearing/seeing any of it. WAY better in game experience and i truly hope more stuff if encrypted for us to discover on our first play through, rather than on wow head

I was only sad that the quest where the Plague Council talks about the solution did not phase out, and half the bubbles were obstructed by players piling up in front of the NPCs. Other than that, samesies it was awesome!

I hope they heavily encrypt a lot of story beats in the future. It really helps people from over mulling all the possibilities. It makes things read better like a story. The problem with Shadowlands was that everyone knew for months what was going to happen. There were no real OMG moments like when you read a book. This encryption made me so happy, if felt like finding out the Scarlet Crusade was run by a Dread Lord all over again.

Kip Ess Actually it doesn't stop at story stuff. It is the same for raids and dungeons and stuff like that. People feel the cotnent drought a lot more when every piece of new content is already old for them because they've played the stuff for weeks or sometimes months on the PTR already.

Forsaken and Night elves should've always been their own neutral factions and world shouldnt have beem split for twp stupid red and blue teams with same depth as red and blue teams in any random muliplayer game. Worst things happened after wotlk tho when Metzen was tired and started ruining the story for shits and giggles, thats why we got Garrosh the impulsive manchild in wotlk onwards, which ofcourse lead into Mop and bombing just to ruin Jaina and for him.to swiftly ingore Christie Golden's writing even more by having her turn into vicious bitch at end of MoP 5.4 cutscene in spite of books ending and Hope cutscene from 5.1 that actually followed the books ending and i am 100% sure we can thank the same people who made it back then for restoration of Jaina in BFA, but even then it doesnt undo all the shit Metzdn did, not unlike D&D who ruined Game of Thrones in last seasons out of being tired and wanting to move on....same exact reasons same exact outcome...

I remember when tally did a “don’t play or come back to wow if “ when SL launched. I wish I listened to that video. It was basically preaching don’t play shadowlands if you don’t like torghast and the maw. Would have saved me a lot of pain and suffering. I was so hyped that Voss was in a cutscene. And the cutscenes had actual animation instead of just "The model is doing default talking animations and it looks god awful". Pity the Anduin and Sylv one was buggy for me. I also thought it was sweet to see Tyrande holding that new seed and gently pressing her forehead near it. It was really pretty seeing all the souls go into it.

Did you notice the contrasting use of ‘hope’ by Tyrande? Remember how Slyvanus got enraged at the mention of hope then ordered the burning of Teldrassil? I thought that was a nice way to wrap up this story. Sylvanus wanted to destroy what how they had, Tyrande goes through literal hell to recover that hope nearly losing herself in the process.

I agree 100 percent that Blizz deserves credit for dropping these cool surprises on us at the launch. They knocked it out of the park IMHO, I especially loved the Calia cinematic. Yeah, it’s time to end the faction divide because narratively it makes sense. I’m certain cross faction guilds are coming either in season 4 or in Dragonflight.

I honestly think the wow team seems to be turning a corner and I couldn't be happier. I'd like all of the expansion content to be developed with cross-faction in mind, and i'd like to see cross faction expanded so my Blood Elf could go chillax in Stormwind, but it's a good start. And I for one, as someone who loves Final Fantasy, am cautiously optimistic about the Social Contract.

9:22 this epic BFA soundtrack brings me back to a time in my life where I joined a guild and WoW together with the social aspects provided necessary escapism. WoW should give players rewards for grouping with New or First -Time players in instances. In FF14 you get additional rewards for grouping with newbies. It encourages people to put up with less skilled players and be helpful, instead of mean. I think stuff like M+ score and DPS meters can foster a toxic attitude. Rewarding people for being friendly and helpful would go a long way to improving WoW's toxicity. Maybe removing the timer and Death Counter in M+ or significantly increasing it until it doesnt matter would also put alot of pressure off of PUGs trying to hit it. Regular M+ could be focused on just completing the key without the pressure of a tight timer.

As someone who's been playing FF14 as my main MMO for almost 5 years now, and stopped playing WoW entirely during Shadowlands, I agree that these changes would really help with the toxicity. There's no impetus at all for casual players in WoW to dabble into end-game hardcore stuff without doing it in a guild group. In fact, everything is working against them. Which just drives casual players away. But unfortunately, removing a lot of those competitive elements undermines WoW's value as an esport, and Blizzard has previously shown that they don't give much of a crap about the MMO or RPG elements of their MMORPG if they can't monetize them for profit.

One of the reasons classic wow was so good was because of the faction differences, not in spite of them. I played Alliance in the beginning and made a Horde shaman so I could 1. play a shaman because faction classes, 2. play all the content available, and 3. see the quest lines from the other side. The only reason to play a specific faction at this point is cosmetic and that's a shame. They don't *feel* different now.

Also depending on when you stared playing the game and what kind of server you were on then the animosity between factions became more a real thing. Classic and TBC pvp servers you grew to have a seeded dislike in the very least towards the other faction as they were the cause of 99% of your deaths and generally at the worst possible time.. like swooping in to tag your kill then kill you so they can claim it, or camping Khorium mines with their 4 rogue buddies waiting for someone to come loot it. ahh good times.

I played an enhancement shaman for pvp despite them being trash because I had the 2h mace (Earthshaker from Molten Core) that had an aoe stun. Pair that with windfury and it meant when the proc went off it hit everyone nearby multiple times. I changed the outcome of many skirmishes in Alterac Valley using that combo.

while I'm SUUUPER happy with the dark ranger customizations, and I love that they are usable on most classes not just hunters...I Can't help but be really sad they aren't usable on death knights...could of finally played the San'layn of my dreams if they had just had the foresight to hit two birds with one stone...so close but still so far :((

I've been a big fan of Anduin since Panda. Love the development they've done with him. I've spent the last expansion worrying about PTSD and how they were going to handle that because there is no way he would come out of this without it. The Sylvanas cutscene was very well done, even though it tore my heart a bit. I had thought he stayed behind to help her collect the souls but the fact that he walked away...what the heck?

Hmm, you know what would make a good spot for a new world tree / home for elves that would serve another purpose? A certain Maelstrom sized wound in the world. It's not quite removing the sword (/waves hand/, there is no sword in Azeroth), but it would be a way to "Heal The World" (of warcraft). Plus, the last time a big ol' immortality granting tree was planted over a fount of power, a group of extra special dragons were around to bless it which gave the elves some extra special goodies. And the Elves' former immortality granting spot is now a bit of a messy raging maelstrom of elemental power occupied by some shamans, but I'm sure the shammies wouldn't mind healing the world if it means giving up their special spot or anything. Also, the whole reason for planting the last big tree that got lit up brighter than a Christmass Tree was to try and regain immortality. What I'm gettin at, is that the pieces just fit together really well for the next World Tree to be planted in the Maelstrom as a means to heal the world. It'll be a grand time, everyone could be invited! Imagine the prepatch event it could involve. Have the player character getting things ready and go around inviting the faction leaders from each faction. Then seek out the Flights for their blessings. Do a few favors / prove your worth. Pull it off and watch a giant tree sprout up faster than Dalaran teleporting to a new expansion. And at the end, Alexstrasza seeing the new home of the elves is filled with a sense of homesickness, and realizes that it's time for the dragons to go home, too. Even tempts the player and surrounding faction leaders with an invitation to the Dragon Isles, should we be successful in finding it, with a bit of "stick around awhile and listen" dialogue. And that would give her line in the Dragonflight expansion some context. "Our world is healed." Like, how tf has Azeroth been "healed" lately? I've yet to see ANY world healing so far. Clean up / hug-and-make-up, sure. But no "healing" in a context that would be meaningful to Azeroth as a world or the dragons. (I may or may not have been dwelling on this particular line since seeing the expansion cinematic)

This opens a lot of possibilities for Blizzard to make guilds more interesting now that solo-play and discord communities have made the guild concept more or less obsolete

My only complaint about Dark Rangers customization is that they could've given hunters darkish/shadowy abilities, I don't know something like arcane shot becoming dark shot or stuff like that, similar to what they've done with warlock's green fire. But still, it's a great win and we appreciate so so much!

You could almost make Worgen shapechange and Forsaken cannibalizing into just a permanent trait you can choose on character creation (or after doing a revamped Worgen/Lordaeron/DK questline). Lycanthropy and undeath does not really care what race their victim is, but for War3 story purposes maybe some of the races might be out of the question.

Nathanos is really a wasted npc in this expansion. It feels like a "What about the giant sword in Silithus?"....."What sword?" moment. He was such a huge lore character from classic because humans weren't rangers. He trained under Sylvanas, they fall in love, everyone dies, she breaks his undead corpse free of Lich King mind control, then just forgets about him in Shadowlands?

As an Alliance player who does keystones a LOT, the last two days have been a blast. Almost all of my groups were half Horde, i even brought a Hordie of a friend along myself most of the time. No negative experiences so far, either. It's not that Horde players are better or anything, but there are just so many more players to form groups with. It's amazing. Also, having a group lineup with a Nelf Druid, Tauren Shaman, Orc Warrior, Human Mage and Draenei Paladin just looks awesome. Btw: The "best" player i met was actually a Vulpera Warrior with a character name that was so reportable it hurt my eyes....great player, though. :) Edit: 100% agree on the guilds, though. I really hope they open up more systems to cross-faction. It's a minor inconvinience that i have to actually enter an instance to be able to trade with my Horde friend, for example. Also, mob tags in the open world should be shared by default in non-warmode. As for warmode.....they will have to find a solution for this, too. I do think that some form of it is a valuable addition to the game, but when 90% of players using it are Horde, the system does not work. So there has to be more work done on it. If cross-faction groups are allowed to Arena together, i see no reason why they should not be allowed to battle in the open world.

They need to do cross faction for LFG/LFR just as well. Less que times is good time... They can give you an option when you que if you want to do it mixed or just your faction. Personally I like leveling but I do a lot of dungeons, really hate waiting in que... I wouild acutally like if they would remove factions as they are... For PVP mode every other person should be an enemy in the open world asside for people in your guild and party members/raid.

Also the legendary crafting exp buff is a bit of a joke at this point. It's already been a loss to make the 291 pieces on my server versus material costs(which is to say even if you farmed the mats up, you'd make more just selling them too instead of crafting the pieces) since a couple weeks after double legendaries became available, the window for it to be worth doing is long past, especially after that rank 1 > 5 boost item got added.

In defense of "that Cannibal Corpse Guy" George Fisher: that infamous video was privately filmed backstage footage where he was interviewed drunk, and got really passionate about WoW and getting ganked while farming motes of air in Shadowmoon Valley (during original BC). When it came out, the video was HILARIOUS, because it was so relatable (farming motes of air WAS a chore, and let's be real, rogues ganking you while you farm mobs in the wild are the scum of the earth), and because he as a full grown man and singer of a band showed this childlike passion for a video game. Sure, he used gay as an insult, but I'd like to see you stay politically correct when you give a drunken rant about people you don't like in your favorite game... I'm 100% sure George has no problems with gays, he's probably one of the nicest people on this planet, just google any sober interview with him, this guy is a treasure. I met him once before a concert, he was kinda embaressed when I mentioned the video, but stayed like 15 minutes to take pictures and talk about WoW. Most down-to-earth musician I've ever met.

The in-game ones are done only with the characters who have specialized rigs to allow for the facial animations. So hopefully they will continue to broaden the number of characters who have those. Even with that work, in-game cut scenes are going to be much easier to produce than the photorealistic ones. As much as the Old Soldier series was great, we could have probably gotten 10-20 times as many in-game cut scenes for the effort and money that series cost to produce.

But they do require special modeling rigs in order to animate them correctly - such as the mouth articulation for lip syncing and the fully-rigged face for expressions. And only a limited number of characters have those fully-animated rigs as yet.

I love seeing the excitement from tali and the community about the hidden questline and customization. My personal opinion is that max level story should be hidden but i would like leveling quests in the new expac to be tested mostly for pacing and potential funneling of players problems also so i can test blizzard's theory you can get to max level twice doing different quests each time. As someone who had a main on horde and alliance for the last two expansions cross faction has been nice. this video I got 141 widowbloom, 157 death blosssom, and 33 nightshade. My initial plan was to stop farming and watching T & E but it's been a good way to level 2.5 toons so ill continue till the pre patch or i finish leveling characters.

I'm still hopeful for faction not mattering *at all* since my husband is very Horde, it's important to him, but I am not. I want to be a space goat. But I met him when I made a Horde alt in Wrath and now...we can raid, M+, PVP and all other things but open world quests are out and that's an experience we really enjoy.

I recommend folks watch Preach's vid on the toxicity in WoW. Tali touches a bit on how WoW might have cultivated hostile environment with the factions, but truly, the worst of it comes from the way game has us interact with other players. I find it to be a really complex issue and depending on your experiences yourself, you might be wondering "What toxicity?", others might be so over WoW's player base nothing less of a "This city must be purged" can bring them back. I personally remember more negative experiences in WoW than I do positive. And why if I do play it, it's mostly solo.

Our Main Tank got banned funnily for saying he liked pineapple on pizza (I belive it was a 1-2 week ban) however that was after getting muted a couple times in raidfinder for telling people what to do, I think 3rd strike is a ban for a week or two. But the thing that resulted in him getting the ban was still the statement that "Pineapple on pizza is good". We still laugh about it. For the encryption of ptr part: I love the fact they kept story under wraps. I want them to continue to encrypt all the surprises actually.

The patch did launch well, but about an hour or so after I completed the quest for the Dark Ranger quest line, the game was busy and the portals stopped working to some places. Especially to places with Barber shops. My main almost got stuck in new de-plagued Lordaeron for the night.

I'm not saying what Fisher said was right by any stretch but from most accounts he's a decent dude who donates toys he wins from claw machines to kids in towns he's playing shows in. You forgot the VERY large group of people that oppose the "social contract" are annoyed because it's condescending as fuck for a company like Blizzard to tell us to behave... And then of course that telling someone "Don't be toxic" is about as helpful as telling someone "Hey don't be racist" or "Hey, don't be a murderer"... People KNOW these things, they just don't care. Ignoring the people that think this way is a bit odd, since from what I've seen online, is a very large majority. I did Blackwing Descent the other day and went who is this gnome clown in the cage? Then I discovered they removed Finkle Einhorn, which led me to the list of changes they made to a bunch of old "edgy" jokes and dodgy character references. These kinds of changes never stop people who are already going to misbehave (sort of like pewpew free zone signs). Remember when games came with warnings that "online interaction may change rating?"

I'm terrified to do Grimrail Depot in M+ in Season 4 it's just such a tight dungeon which doesn't allow for a lot of movement. I get the feeling GRD is gonna be the one dungeon everyone is going to do once at 15 for both Tyrannical and Fortified just to leave it alone afterwards.

Now that they have introduced some measure of cross faction gameplay. Perhaps we can start to get a cohesive story driven narrative that is more unified now that the developers have a little bit of extra breathing room by not having to create two separate quest versions one for the alliance and one for the horde. I understand that for sometime now the quests have more or less been the same with only a few variations from one side to the other. But maybe this will help them move in a step in the right direction.

So I **Just** finished the quest for myself and I found her reasons to be kinda, well, meh. The being a Menathel thing is pretty solid reasoning for most Undead I imagine, but her "I was raised by the Light and not Necromancy thing" seemed meh if not bad to me. There's a chance it might be her "Free from pain" thing that Blizzard set up in the book (I do hope they're going through with that, especially since it makes a nice contrast with the Forsaken who almost are always in pain, and in a sense unified by it which really is interesting to me since it's often from shared pain where a lot of human empathy comes from which if that is something Carlia lacks would make it interesting, however recent dialogue from her seems to disprove that which does worry me that they're going to be backing off from that going into the future) that things could get really interesting should further questioning come of it, but I really think there could be better reasons to it (Like, what does the light want with her, is she some secret sleeper agent for the light to turn undead into a weapon against the void, turning them into mindless agents of the light? It was overall a great questline though and I do love seeing my boy Deathstalker Belmont getting new voice lines alongside the new models being hinted at in the rebuilt undercity.

I loved working through the Lordaron quest line to help the Undead clean up Lordaron and Undercity, appointed a new ruling council for the Undead, including the Undead Dark Rangers, to unlock the character customizations for Undead Dark Rangers…..for elves, not Undead………my Forsaken Rogue died a little on the inside.
