I didn’t know it would be that cheap! We took the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Yokohama instead of the local train and it cost less than $10 or ¥1550 which was a surprise! #shinkansen #train #japanrail

Definitely a great option to sample a bullet train ride from Tokyo! That being said, despite the enticingly low price, it's not the cheapest Shinkansen. The 8-minute ride between Hakata and Hakataminami in Fukuoka is a fraction of the price at 330 yen (less than 3 dollars).
@onlyinjapanGO3 ай бұрын
This is the cheapest for *most* visitors to Japan. It’s not worth going to Hakata for that 😂 The Nagoya to Mikawa is also cheaper at ¥1360 I believe, but it’s only the Kodama and 10 minutes long. I think cost performance, this is better at ¥1700 and just a little more than the Yokohama Air Cabin cable car for 4 minutes 😂 how cheap can we get.

In July, during summer in Japan, my family and I are going from Australia to Kyoto and Tokyo to visit Universal Studios & Disneyland. Just wondering how hot it gets there in July and whether it rains a lot. Do we need umbrellas? I’m also a vegetarian/vegan. What are my options. Any feedback would be appreciated 🙏🏾 ❤

Of course from Shinagawa you can walk to the graves of the 47 samurai. I took the Shikansen from Shinagawa to Yokohama Arena and I didn't even have enough time to sit down.

Many viewers were here when my life changed and he was born. I don’t show our home life or “use” him as a theme, he’s just along for the ride with us. After the years we were trapped at home, home is what we all focused on so it was hard to separate. Also, these become good memories for us as we always have video of our time when he was so small. Perhaps Leo will even read this comment when he’s a teenager?!

I would've never known this! I might actually plan some future trips to Tokyo with this in mind consider how much cheaper hotels are in Yokohama too.
@danielegger64603 ай бұрын
Did the same last year because I figured it was the cheapest way to get my son into a shinkansen. Two problems though: It is still rather expensive compared to the local train but the more annoying part: Shin-Yokohama is in the middle of nowhere and getting from or to there from e.g. Minatomirai is really complicated, lenghty *and* expensive so it's rather useless to actually take the Shinkansen to Yokohama. Even if you "just" want to go to Yokohama, using the local lines is a faster and more convenient option; it would probably be more convincing to pay a little more and take a longer Shinkansen ride to somewhere more useful. Oh, and if Shinagawa or Tokio is not the final destination and you take a JR line to somewhere else, there's also a manual fare adjustment required at the final place, which also takes a couple of minutes.
@nolisarmiento17193 ай бұрын
I had Tokyo station - Shin-Yokohama - Tokyo station way back in July 2019 but with a JR pass (it was still relatively cheap back then)....for me it was good because Shin-Yokohama is the nearest station to Nissan stadium where I watched the Marinos play against Urawa... but yes it still isn't a full shinkansen experience because the train will not run full speed along that way....

What is the price take the JR to Yokohama? Cheaper than Shinkansen? Good option! Never take it before, useful information. 😉
@onlyinjapanGO3 ай бұрын
I showed the ticket without the express charge. It was like ¥580 or $3.85. The super express ticket fee is about $5 more, so cheap! The local trains are often crowded too. The Shinkansen, not so much on weekday afternoons.

Haha! That train was so fake, have to love the imagination! It looked much more European. Def Brad’s train was more dramatic and fun on the inside. Hollywoods POV of Japan is so … wrong 😑 though. The latest SHOGUN drama was the first western production that seemed to nail it.
