Thank you a thousand times ! I can't believe I won, this means so much to me. Thanks Curious Refuge, and many thanks to the Jury too, who watched my movie with so much attention to detail. I'm really glad that my story, and the vibe i was going for, resonated so much with you !

You’re welcome! I loved the aesthetic of The Pumpkin Boy. The pseudo-stop-motion/puppetry look you can create with AI is something we experimented with that you did an amazing job with. I’d definitely want to see a full Pumpkin Boy film. It felt like it could be the start of a modern classic.

What a fantastic lineup of finalists and winners! Congratulations! "Water" was incredible-definitely my favorite. Honestly, it's nearly impossible to choose one over the other. With nearly 500 entries, I can almost blissfully imagine my own entry just barely missing the cut 😅, and seeing the overall quality of all the submissions, has me even more motivated to up the ante next time! 🔥

I'm surprised and gutted your film "unblind" didn't make the cut, I think it was better than all of these, despite these being very impressive too. Postpartum had better physics but the twist was pretty lame. They probably went off the view-count. If you can use it as fuel for even better videos, then that's awesome. I am pretty annoyed that some of those got picked over yours, maybe unblind was too scary!
@particlepanic28 күн бұрын
@@JBDuncan I tell you, man, these AI film competitions today-they've become a cutthroat business! The street's tough, everyone’s got their 10-second hooks and big cinematic punches! Haha! 😅 Thank you so much for the encouragement and for really connecting with "Unblind"! Seeing how it resonates with people keeps me incredibly motivated. 🤩 With 500 submissions, there were bound to be a lot of incredible films that didn’t make the cut-I think once people see who else didn’t make it, it’ll be reassuring that not being a finalist doesn’t mean a film, or a film you really love, isn’t outstanding or worthy of praise. The contest had so many impressive entries, each with unique strengths and styles, so narrowing it down to just 9 finalists just becomes tough, no doubt. I mean, let's flip sides for a moment: 😅 If I were a judge, I could argue that "Unblind," for example, definitely takes its time, walks through different scenes, and is also more open-ended, whereas some of the finalists went for denser, much more economical storytelling, which works really well for short films. I put my heart and soul into crafting something cinematic with "Unblind," but I’d never have come up with the muted eco-horror found-footage mayhem of "Water," the drained haunting dementia-care horror of "Patient No. 40," or an animated horror drama about child loss in "Sabrina"-all narrated in an incredible rap! These films, and so many others, highlight the sheer range of worlds, styles, and stories that AI is making possible. I love seeing contests push for exploration across all types of storytelling and cinematic styles. So you're absolutely right: I feel inspired by the finalists and other submissions and will soak up all I’ve seen for future projects. :) 🤩🤩🤩

@curiousrefuge I can't imagine that in 10 years Hollywood will still be using cameras and filming taking place when you see the pace at which AI video is making progress
@ChrisVideoNet29 күн бұрын
TBH the potential for AI video is there but definitely not there yet... I think most of us who are pro AI want to like these video but it's so obvious they aren't ready yet. They are too short of cuts and almost create ADD... Probably in like a couple years they will be actually entertaining. And can't even imagine what it will be like in 50 years... If we are all still on this planet. But the more of these AI "movies" I watch the less I want to...
@curiousrefuge29 күн бұрын
Certainly have a lot of ways to go but our time frame is much shorter. In 1-2 years it will be hard to even know what is AI compared to other live action films.
@cinematic_monkey28 күн бұрын
@@curiousrefuge I hope that filmmakers won't use this tech to generate movies, on a large scale at least. I think it won't sell. People watch movies for real actors, real people behind the art direction, or real vocice actors behind animated characters, not to mention all these people who make these little decisions that impact the overall story. "AI" is just a new gadget that sparks interest due to shiny object syndrome, but brings nothing interesting to the table imho. Sure VFX area will probably benefit greatly once "AI" stops being a low resolusion gimmick. But would you see a movie with a script generated by chatbot and imagery generated by an algorithm? Naah.
