My 6 year old son and are amazed. For 9 days the mom and dad fed them! For 9 days until they were grown, they hunted and fed them! What a miracle to watch. The Vivaldi was an extra bonus! Great job. Thank you, thank you, thank you!.

THANK YOU for posting this!! Our sparrows were scared out of the nest by the sound of the lawnmower (we immediately stopped mowing) today and they have only been hatched for about 9 days so I've been worried that it was our fault they left so soon but the parents are working hard teaching them to fly and feeding them still so you have settled my mind a little bit!

This video was amazing to watch. I had so many questions. There is a bush right beside my kitchen window. When I was trimming the bush a month ago I discovered the nest and left it alone because it was empty. The nest is eye level from the window. Today I just happened to look out as the 2 babies popped their heads up with mouths opened wide. So exciting!! It appeared that only one was fed as I continued to watch after the parent returned several times. This is when the questions began and I searched for info. Your video has been very helpful.

Thanks! This just worked out this time because I was trimming the bushes. I have tried other nests, but it is hard to set up without distrubing the birds. I have had 3 nests in my bar-b-q grill. Last ones died because we had a hot spring and the eggs got too warm. It was sad.

Our if curiosity from seeing your video, I looked up Song Sparrows, and found that the nesting period lasts typically 9-12 days unless you missed a day. Frankly, before I looked it up I was a little skeptical of how fast those nestlings seemed to mature.
@Jaabo37
@Jaabo37 9 жыл бұрын
+Ben Berlin I am certain of the timing. I cut the bush and saw the nest. They hatched that night and put the camera in the bush and let it film while I was in the house. By the 9th day the left the nest and followed their parents into the woods. Likely they would fly by the 10th day but I do not know. They blended in so well with the brush in the woods I couldn't see them anymore. I still have the original videos in full length. I edited this down from the originals.

Absolutely wonderful video. Thanks so very much for sharing it with us. After showing this video to my husband I told him that this is the reason I feed birds, chipmunks and squirrels. I think every bird in our neighborhood comes to my yard because I go thru a 10 pound bag of birdseed a week. I don't use bird feeders...I simply make a LONG heaping line on the pavement of our driveway each morning, and by nightfall it's all gone. I also lay out sunflower seeds, peanuts and popcorn and after I get it all laid out, it's a feeding frenzy. Every kind of bird you can imagine gets their fill. And then at night, I put out cut up hotdogs for the skunks, raccoons and opossums. Thanks again for sharing.

Nedyah74 Taking care of the animals makes us happy. I'm glad you enjoyed this. The day I was cutting that bush I thought there was no hope for the birds. But those parents didn't give up even though they were exposed to the elements and other predatory animals (cats and birds). It was truly amazing to see. Thanks for watching!

Great video! I searched out this video because I too have been watching a song sparrow and her three chicks in my front bush, and today the nest was empty and I got worried. But judging by your video and when I last saw them, they are very likely out of the nest and learning to fly with mom. Thanks for the video!

Oh no. They momma and daddy called them out of the nest at 8 days. It was amazing how fast they grew. They were close to being able to fly when they left. The parents continued to call out and the babies followed them into the woods. They did not abandon them at all.

Thanks for the facts, and these exact spices does not exist where I live but we have a quite a similar here though. But these doesn't have a real song per say more lot of just chirping. Found a really good video that show exactly what you would always hear if they are around, especially at the beginning. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5vWk3pvnqaperc But you have house sparrows and as well as I understand.

Many thanks for giving reply. Glad to hear you have other nest of birds. In India many time Sparrow put inside house in top rack some where with dry bush they made them selves. Many time the sparrow get cut her wing due to coming in between the ceiling fan running fast. Most of time hot so can't keep the fan OFF. Other Pigeon puts nest in Bombay city building. But their rat will be to survive the baby bird to come out.

About the 2nd through 8th day I put the camera in the bush about 10 minutes when i got home from work each morning (I worked 3rd shift). There was some times it rained and I wish I had footage of the parents then but I did not have a waterproof camera then. I didn't get much the last day because the parents called them away out of the nest. It was a matter of minutes and they were in the woods. They probably were flying soon after that

That wasn't the baby's mouth -lol, Watch closely - the parent taps the baby - then the baby sticks his rear in the air and the parent takes away the poop sack. Ii never knew this until I filmed this. That is why the nest stays clean. I never figured out where they dumped it.
