5:50 You say this is "probably springtime". When using the street view feature in Google Maps, there is ALWAYS an image capture date (month/year) in small font in lower right hand screen. In this case, the capture date was July 2015. BTW, I love your videos! I used to work at Google, and wish they had produced material like this. However, your personality and presentation skills are perfect it. Thank you!

Aw . . . puppies!!! One of the most touching Google Maps things I did was when I looked up my mother's favourite auntie's address. She hadn't been there since the 1950's but we took a "walk" down the street. Mum loved to travel, so once she learned how to use it, she was off "visiting" her friends and favourite places around the world.

My favorite activity in google maps: When I read something interesting in world events, I go there in Maps and I peruse the local restaurant scene and check out the great food pictures people post. I tell friends that I was in Istanbul or Prague last night and they understand I meant google maps.

A few years ago my wife and I were talking about visiting the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador. So, I visited via Google maps; saw all kinds of cool looking creatures, including the Blue-footed booby. What a sight. Finally I was meandering around one of the islands and headed out to the beach. Before I knew it, I was snorkeling around underwater and seeing some of the most amazing sea-creatures I've ever seen. It was wonderful and a very pleasant experience.

I have "visited" a lot of villages in Greenland. McMurdo Station, Antarctica and other fun places. I also like national borders and extreme points. The elementary school I went to was torn down. The major street shows the new building but the side street view is much older and shows the old building. A weird experience by turning the corner.

Ooohhhh yes, pegman is simply the best, I love exploring with it. I loved visiting the pyramids in Egypt, and heading up into the Statue of Liberty. Such good fun. I used pegman in New Zealand to see what certain locations were like for me to visit, whether they would be worthwhile or not. I even found 2 amazing swinging bridges to visit, so they went on my list. I use pegman a lot to suss out lots of locations I am visiting. I did know about the spaceship over area 51 and the loch ness monster - tooooo cute.

I use satellite view a lot. I write about wines and wineries. To verify if a winery has vineyard on site, I look on the satellite view. The rows of wines are usually easy to spot. Although some older images are high altitude and blurry. Thanks for your Maps information. Between you and a friend, who is a level 8 guide, I plan on adding this to my work this summer. I was going to create a lot of KZbin videos, especially local BBQ & Mexican food. My level 8 friend, has the most Google Map image. A view of Boulder Dam. He gets 1 million Google Maps hits a week

That's the hotel my wife took me to for my 60th @03:04. The Bauer Hotel, and at 03:33 the view from the terrace at breakfast across the Grand Canal to Santa Maria della Salute. Since the beginning of COVID we have been pretty much housebound, but have used maps to re-visit several of our old haunts, and many places that we hope to visist in future.

I think your videos on Google products are very beneficial and helpful. About your one on Google Docs you had a feature on the speaking into it and it would type it out. My Android phone had that feature not too long ago but then I updated and it went away. I was wondering if I could get that back. Since I am not a very fast typer, especially on a phone, it was very helpful to me.

🇨🇦/🇺🇸... A few years ago I had a Microsoft Windows theme background image from some place in the UK. The photographer's name was on the background image and so I found him... saw several of his "gallery" images... found the village that was in the image and "drove" around that little village. I then noted some of the small businesses (stores... shops etc) and emailed them to say "hello", introducing myself from across the pond. It was great fun!

Great video Steve. I use Pegman to tale a look at an area that I am going to so that I will know what it looks like before I get there. A good example is finding a specific store in a strip mall or a road intersection off of the main highway. I also fall down the rabbit hole of just sight seeing. which can eat up hours, but, I am 85 and have little else to do. I have just become aware of your work and I can say that it is great. Thank you for putting so much effort into them. g

With the greatest respect my friend I don't think that the vessel used is a gondola. A gondola in Venice is usually an ornate, flat bottomed boat, propelled by a pole. They are used to carry tourists around the canals, and can be very expensive! I think the vessel used by Google Maps is a basic utility boat. Been to Venice several times and it's a magical place. Hope you don't mind the comment, I've just discovered your channel and I'm hooked! Thank you.

As an Italian that has visited Venice multiple times, I can confirm that is not a gondola but a simple utility boat. Gondolas are almost like you described them: ornate, slim, flat bottomed boars, propelled by a human with pole and traditionally black.

A related app of interest is geoguessr… It’s a game where they drop you to sub place on earth in Street view end it allows you to travel around any attempt of trying to figure out where on earth you are using all of the information you see from street view. What type of trees surround you? What side of the road are the cars driving on? What language are the street signs printed in? What type of buildings can you find? Etc… I have not played In a while, but I can spend a good deal of time on it, and have fun doing it, when I have the time. But, like I said, this is similar to the activities you were showing on google maps.
