I’ve messed with a guitar for years and it just never felt right. I just could never get serious. I picked up a mandolin about a week ago and I absolutely can’t put it down. I’ve never been passionate about music but I think I may have found something in a mandolin

I hear ya! I was a lifelong guitar player until a band was in wanted some mando, so I picked it up and became instantly obsessed with the things. I like that it’s kind of an odd, niche instrument and I love that woody tone. Plus, I just find them so easy to play because they’re so symmetrical. Any scale, pattern or chord works everywhere on the neck. You should be able to find lots of fun and easy songs here on the channel :) Thanks for checking out the video and have a great day!

Agreed! I took guitar lessons for 2 months - but I was never really passionate about it. Then I heard mandolins and I knew that that was the sound that I like! Now searching for my first mandolin!

@@JJ_TheGreat - If you’re looking to stay below $500, just grab a Loar or used Eastman/Kentucky, start with those G, C and D chords and you’re off to the races!

That is soooooo😮bad~ass...my step father uncovered a coconut shaped mandolin from like the 1800's...I checked it out, in the fragil'ness state, respectively...I asked if it was OK if I can take it to Guitar Center in Cerritos...away I went...they were not 100% on it's details, although I have gained a somewhat level of confidence just holding it & getting feel for its uniqueness'...and it holds hidden gifting, im guessing by or sent from thee human being whom I trust...long ago passed on, yet the master of this paticular piece...stood up in some amazement and felt proud that his instrument is in the hands of somebody which can appreciate its finest days and the pleasures that it has provided, and with a serious amount of finesse and handling it...well as the similar stories and I'magining of all the historical fiction behind its existance... I can very much let all the waves of musical foresight begin to set in...I kinda have adopted this as a person sets out to adopt a forever interest and will take notes along the way of this new kinda relationship with regard to what can come of it. It has already brought me joy just in the 72 hrs thus far w/it. Checking it out, inheritance of & historical meaning behind it, the fragileness & state of care necessary to wake it up condition the wood, gentle yet confidences it requires to shine & has shone to the many before my time, which it will have the biggest impact to my interest to make a difference in others day... MUSICIANS ARE MAGICIANS...they can produce some extraordinary and amazing gifts that leave a memory or two to alway think about where did that truly come from... Respect to the sounds of music.

Awesome, I find that I’m learning tunes but fear I will not remember them when it’s time to jam with others. I guess that’s where learning to improvise comes in. I’m not there yet but hope to be at some point in my journey.
@COMANDOLIN Жыл бұрын
Hey there :) Maybe if you ease into it - pick a couple of easy tunes and play them over and over and over by yourself until they’re in the fingers and just start out with one friend on a guitar where there is no expectation or pressure. It’s such a great learning tool to play with others and get to enjoy the experience without worrying about messing up. Here’s a fun way to both simulate playing with others and learn to improvise with no worries. Check this out - let’s take a super simple scale, call up some backing tracks and go to town :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIHTgI2Dlt9mhtU

I really liked the first 2 enough to learn them, but keep it on the down low. Got "Ring o F" and Jolene in my repertoire already. 👍
