When you paint concrete floors, add a few big handfuls of Playland to it and mix well. It helps add texture so it won't be so slick.

For the flooring... All the clam diggers where I live (Great South Bay on Long Island.) Use Non slip epoxy coatings on our clam boats. I used it on the floor, the bow area and the side rails, so I had good footing every where. Clam boats are usually small 18 foot boats with flat bottoms and a self draining flooring, that is just a couple inches above the water line, with a couple of holes drilled into the transom, to drain the floor when you take on waves or it rains. The floor is usually wet and the boat is rolling, and you get great grip on the deck. I have Never slipped in the 10 years, that I used to clam. High traffic areas may need to be resurfaced with the non slip coarse sand like material every 5 years or so. (It is easy prep - just clean well with solvent, and rough up surface with sandpaper and roll on epoxy and throw non slip on top.) We also use the non slip on commercial merchant ships in many areas of the ship. (i spent 35 years working as an engineer on large US Merchant ships) Come to think about it... I've spent half my life on rolling floors :) Although... just keeping the cement scrubbed and clean will work, as long as there's no slippery mold. It's good to have a "No running" rule on premises. It's hard to Not want to at least "Walk Fast" when transferring fish, from the cold Ohio outdoors to their new tanks. Every Merchant ship has strict No Running rules. LOOKING GREAT. I love your kind of Work (it is LOTS of work), But what sense of satisfaction with every new improvement you make. Loving the tank vids.

hey rich if you was thinking of painting the floor you could get the paint with sand mixed in so it stays grippy when the floor is wet just a thought. but if you painted the floor would mean you would have to stay out the fish room why it dry's which is not ideal unless you did it last thing at night. love the updates on the fish room it is going to look amazing when all the tank are in place keep up the good work. Great stuff. Those rubberized nets are great. But if you can get ones with a smaller mesh you will be far less likely to split the fishes fins. I mean as the fins can't push through the holes as easily. I mean this constructively. Not trying to have a pop at you Guys. 😊

Why don’t you get metal to put the sumps over the top of the sump so you don’t need the milk crates and the fish can have a hide
@ohio-fish-rescue16 күн бұрын
The sump is gravity fed from the settling chamber. It can't be higher than the chamber. And we dontbwant fish in yhe sump. That water is there to get pumped up to all the tanks. If we put fish in there. Then the amonia wayer gets pumped up to all the tanks.

What’s the point of acclimating the water of your carrying them through the ice cold outside that’s gonna shock them anyway no?
@ohio-fish-rescue17 күн бұрын
Not at all. You can get into a hot tub in your backyard and then when you get out you can walk through the snow to get back in the house and you dont feel cold . Its the same with the fish coming out of 75 degree water 10 seconds of cold air then back to 75 degree water. It takes time to have your core temp lower or raise . We acclimate to get them used to the water difference. Ie: temp, hardness, ph differences, that would nomally turn them to shock
