9 Million Selfies Riding Motorbikes in Sulawesi 🇮🇩 RTW Ep20

Chugging on around the world! This time we're off the ferry and riding our DR650s onto the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. This is somewhere that had been on our map since we saw North and Left a Bit's trip through the area. As with the rest of the islands of Indonesia, it's rich with history and culture and lovely, welcoming people who are dead keen on getting a selfie with us and enquiring how big our fuel tanks are.

Liss: Mostly no judgement, we approach difference with a positive and curious attitude. The hardest one for me was the smoke-filled no smoking sleeping area on the ferry. Had to remember that 40 years ago, every bus in the UK would have been exactly the same.

I'm interested to know does it look noticeably different? We're in Borneo now and it is staggering to see how much is covered in Palm Oil plantations. Apparently 2/3rds of it has been given over to it. -H

Your episodes keep getting better! Excellent drone shots following the bike through the jungle. Interesting how cheap those wooden boats are. Sad a little boy died, but at least he will be remembered in the bigger world via your video. Very interesting the part about how the deceased are kept dressed and brought out every few years - the Incas had a very similar custom with their mummified kings and queens, called "malquis".

The biggest bike I would ride in Thailand is 300cc .

Yeah the 650s are pretty hefty for Thailand's roads, but when you're doing the kinds of distances we are, you want to be able to sit comfortably at 90-100kph and not many 300s can. -H
