What helps me stay consistent is to have a daily “power hour”... before the work day starts - I dedicate at least an hour to my personal projects, including creating content for my channel. That way, even if the day runs away from me and I’m too tired by the end of the day to continue, at least I’ve done an hour at the start of the day to keep taking little steps forward. Thanks for this video! 🙌

“Done is better than perfect” and “progress over perfection”. I used to write these on the top of my planning calendar every day for over a year. Now when I get stuck in my video editing process trying to over perfection and always finding flaws in my own work, these phrases automatically pop in my head so that I can move forward (publish the video) even with the imperfections.

Never having a video go viral spoke to me. The grind of putting out videos and just getting a little better each time is tough to stomach when you see other creators hit what appears to be random success...but in the end, I know that setting a goal and sticking to it will put me in a better place. Plus comparing numbers is for the birds🐦

"Remember to rest instead of quit." Wise words, Roberto. Okay, so my tip now would be a To Do list. I have a booklet for it, I prefer hand writing it down. I refresh the list every 4 months, so old tasks don't stay. I have a page of moremon-going projects, and I list video ideas, put in brackets next to the idea "notes/f/e&t/u&s". This keeps track of ifmInwrote notes, filmes, edit, thumbnail, upload and schedule. Checkmarks are my friends. 😁 This help me stay organised, on top of things, and allows me keep track of my ideas and the ideas suggested by viewers.

What helped me is watching videos like this and from creators I want to learn from. It was so oblivious how they can make beautiful videos until I tried to take one thing and try to apply it to my content. I’m no where near them but I’m learning and the journey to be a better creator is far from over.

I definitely need to detach from results. When I do, I create more and enjoy the process more and actually get better results than when I am attached, which is most of the time still. When I am attached, I get creative fatigue, and I get envious or feel not good enough, etc. Gotta let go of that.

I don't have anything to add to this list, but the tip I need to work on the most is to "detach myself emotionally from results" and "be invested in the process of creating and the act of doing". I can get really down when my view sub/count is slow, or when the sub count goes down, but I feel really proud when I've finished a painting session and seen what I created. I never think about how many more subscribers it's going to get me. The fact that I did it is enough.

Superb information Roberto! My tip for content creation, albeit a very inexperiance position on KZbin, would be the same tip I'd give anyone who wants to learn something. That tip is: Find people who can be your mentor, and make sure those people are actually DOING what you want to learn. Roberto Blake makes KZbin videos about making youtube videos, and has already made many sucsessful and helpful youtube videos. This is why, he - is a source I look upward to as a mentor for creating content etc...

Really good video, Roberto. My best tip for content creators today is an extension of the emotional attachment you talk about. Once I learned how to dig into analytics (Thanks Derral!), I started to see that all of this "cool stuff" I did at the start of videos that was unrelated to the topic/content hindered the actual good stuff from being seen, I got a lot more comfortable with editing, delivery, and making value driven videos. I think H Hillier Smith (tip # 2 from me is to study all of his videos) is a really good voice as far as this goes too.

My top tip for content growth is to pay attention to the analytics. When I started to niche down on my podcast I saw that my audience was so far removed from who I thought it would be. I was making my mindset shows to my demographic (old bloke!!) but my largest audience are Women aged 20 to 34 in the States. This then lead me to really research what was trending in their lives and make my shows fit that genre. Good luck every one, find your niche and be proud of who you are.

I love being a content creator but things will be sooooo much easier in a few weeks when I can send my kid to summer daycamp (she's in virtual school) and have undisturbed time to work. One thing I still struggle with (but doing better) as a creator is other creators in my space "borrowing" ideas. I had a video that I did a lot of research on and got a good title, thumbnail, and topic. The thumbnail had an animated face shot of me pointing to a stop sign. The video performed well and two weeks later another creator in the same niche made a thumbnail pointing at a road sign. Then a week later she made a video with a thumbnail using the EXACT SAME stop sign image I used in Canva. I have a video I'm planning that I think will perform really well and I'm betting in two weeks time the title and idea will be on this person's channel as well. People in "real" jobs that don't like it when people try to take credit for their work may find it shocking as hell when other creators copy ideas from them and you just have to figure out how to cope with it and get even more inventive.

It's more promising to go to school and get a good job then starting a KZbin channel for money Having a few virals myself, they mainly got suggested a year later, out of 1200 videos, (privated like 500) I only had one get 100k views in a week KZbin shouldn't be about money, 99% of people who do grow fast is because money, team, or an influence from elsewhere. The hardest mindset for me to develop was that subs = views Having 170k subs and average 2k views within 24h and seeing others get 10-20k views within 24h with even half the subs can be difficult to think about. Everyone has unique situations. Comparing myself all the time was really difficult and it caused a lot of depression that I was useless and worthless but I kept pushing through because I know my future self will be happier. Patience is the real winner in KZbin. My goal is to try to build an active community which has been the only challenge I have yet to surpass.

My number one tip to anybody who's looking to create content would be to confront your insecurities through creation. For me personally I have almost always hated my commentary voice(much like anybody really) and I would often use that as a crutch as to why I didn't want to make videos. However by taking the time to address it with myself and try to find ways to make my commentary style better I find that it's helped me out a lot specifically with that skill, but furthermore it's a part of my creative process in every aspect from scripting to editing. By confronting any insecurities I might have I'm inching ever closer to becoming a higher quality creator and that's always going to be the goal. ^^

My tip as a still growing KZbinr: try and improve one aspect for each and every video. Whether that be how your edit the video, tweak the audio, speak to the camera, do your thumbnail, etc. Then assess how that change impacted your video. Did your retention go up? What about CTR if you modified the thumbnail or title? Keep what works, and discard what doesn't. Eventually you'll hit the point where viewers consider your content worthy enough to subscribe and continue coming back. But that doesn't necessarily mean to stop improving once you hit that growth 😉

Great tips! Loved "The work must be the reward for creators" Excellent advice to avoid burnout. Focus on enjoying the process. Internal gratitude > external gratitude, definitely. Thanks Roberto!

I know that the way I think about things is not with the majority which is why I started a KZbin Channel to encourage single moms along their journey. I do become hesitant at times because I'm not sure if what I am putting out will reach those who need the message, but it all comes to being patient. Thank you for reiterating this truth!
