Is there anything I can do to reduce Jaw stress when I sing some of those lower or higher notes?

A good massage will help or see another type of health professional like an Osteopath. But first try massaging yourself around your jaw, under the chin. Try tongue exercises, sticking you tongue out bending it over the bottom teeth with your mouth open. Sing with your tongue trying to touch your chin. Circle tongue around the teeth clockwise and anti-clockwise. KZbin tongue & jaw tension exercises. Usually tongue and jaw tension happen together. There is no easy quick fix for this.

How do i recover my singing voice after a year of not singing

Hi Tenjiwe, from my experience, it takes 3 to 6 months to build up the voice. Try and practice in short spurts 2 or 3 times a day for 5 or 10 minutes, rather than one long 60 or 90 minute session. I would start lips trill and sirens within a comfortable range at first. Start with something like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4jaZJagh7GlqLs. Then gradually build up to longer sessions e.g. 2 x 20 minute session.
