Sometime in mid-October 2020, seven Nigerian stowaways were found onboard the oil tanker, MV Nave Andromeda. As the ship began the final leg of its voyage to Britain, on the morning of the 25 October 2020, the seven men became hostile to the crew, prompting the Captain of the Nave Andromeda to send out a call for help. What followed was a ten-hour standoff between Hampshire Police and the seven men that ultimately led to the Special Boat Service being given authorisation by the Ministry of Defence to board and retake the Nave Andromeda.

Hi everyone, Just a note, and as several commenters have rightly pointed out, the pronunciation of Torquay at 4:27 should be 'Tor-key', not 'Tor-qway'. That is completely my mistake and I apologise for this. I also just want to quickly address some confusion regarding these 4 photos, which have been circulating online with claims that they show Lifter01 conducting training with a rigid inflatable boat two hours before the boarding operation began. Photos: twitter.com/HighBleanBandB/status/1320414298146000903 Although I could not personally verify their legitimacy, it is almost certain that the photos are unrelated to the incident and are instead from a training exercise from a few years back. The main indication of this is the lighting in all 4 photos, which doesn’t line up with the movement of Lifter01. Sunset on the 25 October 2020 started at 16:45pm; at this time, Lifter01 was en route to RM Base Poole from R.A.F. Odiham. The Chinook then arrived at Poole at approximately 17:10pm; by then, it was almost dark out. Yet, as we can see from these photos, there is no hint of sunset or night time, but rather they appear to have been taken at mid-day, making them impossible to show either Lifter01 or be linked to the hijacking. Note the similarities between these two photos, which were both taken off Swanage (near Poole): August 2017: thedorsetrambler.files.wordpress.com/2017/08/shell-bay-swanage-walk-025-2-copy.jpg?crop October 2017: thelonekayaker.files.wordpress.com/2017/10/img_0069.jpg?w=685 I hope this clears up any confusion / questions regarding the 4 photos. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed several news outlets, such as Sky News, take them at face value and write reports on the operation stating the SBS used the R.I.B., shown in the photos, as one of the methods they used to board the Nave Andromeda. There is no evidence rigid inflatable boats were used in the boarding and, as Save The Royal Navy have stated, it would have been “a demanding task in darkness and moderate seas” for them to have been used - note also the Defence Secretary Ben Wallace mentioned the "worsening weather conditions" in his post-operation statement. Thanks, LFE

Quay is a word with many possible pronunciations, depending on the speaking habits in a particular region. Whether it sounds like key, kay, or kway, quay refers to a dock in a body of water. So no big deal. Awesome work LFE! Superb Channel.

Imo they were opportunists, probably trying to hope that the ship would enter waters that aren't secure, I doubt they even knew where they were when they started attacking. Unfortunately for them, they decided to reveal themselves in one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, nearly on the doorstep of the U.K SBS base. It all depends what the Captain reported to the authorities, if there was reports of shit like Ak-47s and an expected use of force, then I would expect there would have been an order to shoot to kill under given protocols.

"They appeared before Southampton Magistrates' Court this morning and have been remanded in custody. They will next appear at Southampton Crown Court on January 29, 2021. "Five other men, who were arrested on suspicion of seizing or exercising control of a ship by use of threats or force, remain on police bail until January 25, 2021 whilst Hampshire Constabulary's investigation continues. "They are currently detained under Border Force powers." Reports on October 25 claimed the Nave Andromeda had been 'hijacked' however this was disputed by its owners.

I remember seeing the chinook flying over my house on it’s way to st athan to pick up the sas... Living local (Barry) you get to see the chinook and c17 flying around but on this day you could tell they were in a rush. To answer the end of the video, yes the sas have a base in st athan but normally stay around cowbridge about 5 minutes away. Love the work you do keep them coming.

Hey Liveth, There's a chance you won't read this, but I'm willing to take that risk. I might have a few ideas for video's. -Death of Linda Norgrove (October 2010) -Capture of Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame (April 2011) ((capture of a terrorist in Somalia without a shot being fired)) -Operation Octave Fusion (January 2012) -Rescue of Dr. Dilip Joseph (Edward Byers MoH award, however I couldn't find a lot on this op), (December 2012) -Yakla raid, Yemen, 2017 They're all executed by DEVGRU, and I'd love to see a video about them

Hardly anybody in the public realm, knows actively what the SBS do on a day-to-day basis in Afgan. One has to portion out how many people in the U.K care about being in the Afgan war in 2020. Many people still resent Blair to this day for it. A controversial declaration of war, a failed 19 year operation, loss of lives, Afgan is still a mess and it was a waste of tax-payers money, wasn't it.. So then what, we have the minority of people who care about the U.K fighting in Afgan...Oh no wonder it seems hardly any body cares any more, I'm not at all surprised. SBS conduct a largely public operation off the coast of the U.K, the national home of the SBS. Major news outlets are broadcasting and covering about it...Yet you're seemingly upset about it blowing up on KZbin? ...Lol? But there's more, because KZbin barely went nuts. Just look at this video, not even a quarter of a million views.. Yet U.K has a population of 70 million people nearly. Honestly, hardly anybody cares about this either lol, because the operation was a success and non-controversial, nothing to talk about really is there. I honestly don't think you could be any more out of touch with your comment.

The one plausible reason why "Lifter 2" went to MOD St. Athan was to drop off the team of SFSG operators back to base, who most probably were tasked as being the QRF (quick reaction force) to the SBS operators, and stood by just in case the SBS operators needed assistance or EVAC.

@@raspytv6684 Respect where respect is due, but US SF are extremely varied in training intensity, tactical ability, and subsequently they highly specialized. It's hard to imagine a more varied and competent collection than US SF. The bright and bold SEALs are just the tip of the iceberg, the ones you know much less about are far more advanced in terms of ability (namely, CIA SAD team, Delta Force, Navy FAST). Hell, even within our famed SEALS we have various units with ST6 being the most elite. I don't know much about British SF, but I do know a fair bit (compared to the average civvie, mind you, I'm no expert) about US SF and they're no joke. 617 billion USD may be overkill but it's certainly not with nothing to show for it.
