#2 happened to us in Mexico. One of the guides made friends with us and said he comes up the states for work several times a year. So we exchanged info and within a couple weeks he was calling asking for us to wire him some $$$ because he was in the states and got into a fender bender and did not have the right insurance. He called and called and asked for different amounts of $$$. I had to block him. He was super friendly and asked a bunch of questions like what we did for a living and what city we lived in. Lesson learned! Do not give out any info on how much you make or what field of work you're in. He assumed we were wealthy and tried to run a scam on us. Sucks that you have to put up a guard when strangers are over friendly with you.

Very good advice. The only additional advice I would give is that you should spend time in different parts of Panama before you decide where you want to live permanently. Places within Panama can be very different from each other. I have lived in Panama for 23 years and became a citizen 10 yesrs ago.
@PanamaRelocationTours Жыл бұрын
That's why we advise that people ONLY RENT for at least the first 1-2 years after moving to Panama. That makes it easy to move around to check out other areas. Congratulations on becoming a citizen.

@@ashamehr5556 Rainy season in Bocas del Toro varies by year, but it is generally the peak of the North American summer and winter - so July and August, December and January. The months on either side of these are shoulder seasons that can also have rain. Bocas del Toro is limited in its facilities and hospitals. If you need those, you may want to consider other parts of the country and then visit Bocas for in country vacations.

I have been in Panama 27 years. One thing I think is important for those who will hire workers (such as a maid), is to be very familiar with pertinent labor laws so you don’t find yourself in a legal bind should you have to let them go for whatever reason. You will need to be familiar with social security and other wage requirements and benefits.
