This is a race around the world, only one team is allowed per country, the team is a franchise. Each team develops their own vessel. It must be able to race thousands of miles and it also must be able to race ten laps around a three to five mile course. Using the same boat is a difficult technological task. www.CupRoyale.com

A truly astounding hydrofoil is the Boeing 929. No longer in production but still in service. Considering the speed and efficiency, I'm not sure as to why that is.
@marknasia52935 жыл бұрын
john hanrahan i was told while taking one of the few hydrofoils from Hong Kong to Macau that hydrofoils are efficient but many cases of hitting debris floating on top of the water or even small whales, large schooling fish is a considerable problem given the speed. I would love to hydrofoils make a comeback

Sea Bubbles is advertising on Twitter. In many coastal or riverfront communities this seems like a great idea. the special docks required for recharging add an entirely separate element to establishing a viable water taxi service. Any dock would require coastal/waterfront access in a place the passengers could easily get to and from via another taxi service like Uber or Lyft, so a decently busy thoroughfare. This would likely also require the coordination/participation of the local government. Think Mobile Bay, AL, or Boston Harbor, MA, with loads of commercial and industrial shipping. The routes and permissions would have to be worked out in concrete terms well in advance of investors ponying up any monies for this service. I like the idea, but there's a lot more to it than just buying a $160,000 water taxi.

Do you have any ideas for a kit with two external hydrofoils, that could be attached, to a simple fibreglass dory, to increase speed, and save on gasoline. In belize, , fisherpeople have to know when fishing is good, go when the sea is calm, and know the legal limits, which my friend recites by heart. The hydrofoil woiuld lessen travel time, and lower the money spent n gas.

Beneteau is not a hydrofoil. It is an offset dagger board. I am a huge fan of hydrofoils, but all of these are good for recreational use at best. You should have included Candela. All use deep foils. There are hybrid foils as well like the Hysucat, Hysucraft and HAWC boats. Few of the boats mentioned here will survive. They are expensive and the motorized one, except for the first and last are not efficient enough and over priced because they are concept creations.

I would not travel on #1 or #10 on the rivers in urban area. The rivers (all that I know) are polluted! not only by industrial waste, but bacteria, parasites etc. And these things are open, close to water and high speed - one would get infected from the water droplets very soon.

While your #1 selection may be a bit less of environmental impact, Zero impact is not correct. Manufacturing footprint, battery manufacturing footprint, electric power generation footprint, battery disposal footprint, all add up !
@TIMEtoRIDE9006 жыл бұрын
You're right - - they should have said "zero impact where used". 50% of electricity is "wasted" in the power lines. It was said years ago that a tiny electric car pollutes as much as a giant Cadillac.
