When I was a little girl, I accidentally murdered eight people in RollerCoaster Tycoon (the original) after I idiotically made a ride too fast and it derailed and everyone on the ride died. It actually traumatized me, that's not a joke. I seriously had nightmares. (I was such a little cinnamon bun back then.) However, since I felt so guilty, and no one was going to the park anymore, I started a new game but I still felt really guilty for these fictional peoples' deaths. Now when I kill someone in a game, I don't bat an eye. However, I still don't like killing innocents so I only kill baddies. However, I would love to play RollerCoaster Tycoon again for nostalgia's sake. Who cares if I was traumatized? It was so fun!

In a typical MMO, the average player will murder tens of thousands of things. From bunnies to Bahamuts, if it can somehow provide loot, experience, or pleasure, it will die. Unless, of course, you roll a healer and let your party members do all the killing. You might still get credited for genocide, but the only blood on your hands will be your allies' as they ignore the fact they're standing on a spike trap and can't be bothered to move their foot as you're applying a bandage.

You do have to kill things on Fallout 3 though. When you are securing the water purifier, you have to go in and kill super mutants to clear it out. Also (as someone else mentioned), the B.O.S. have trouble dealing with the Behemoth at GNR. The better choice for this list would be Fallout: New Vegas. You don't even have to fire a single shot in that game. You can even run past all enemies in the final area, then convince the final boss to give up.

I think if you are REALLY patient, you can shoot arrows to the legs of the enemies, the arrows can be like turnstiles, and they will not gonna' bleed, but watch out, they don't get ''nonlethally kill'' in the first arrow...

I love this video so very much. The non-lethal approach is always the Patrician choice for gentlemen and gentlewomen. One small correction though: it's not just Thief: Deadly Shadows that allows for a non-lethal approach. Both previous entries in the franchise did as well, and they too can be ghosted through. That being said the first two games basically ends with Garrett going "Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself?", because he provides the antagonists the means for their own destruction, and they fall for it hook, line and sinker.

Even if for some reason you don't count the rad roach in fallout 3, there's still a mission where you have to clear out the Jefferson memorial. It's part of the main quest line and cannot be avoided. Fallout New Vegas, on the other hand, actually never forces your character to kill anything, making it a way better example

I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention the consequences of killing in MGS3. When Snake jumps from the waterfall and goes unconscious, causing him to have a nightmare of all the enemies he has killed. All the bosses have implanted explosives that they use to kill themselves even if you subdue them through non-lethal means (they do not want to be taken by America or the current Russian government alive). I don't count them as kills as they kill themselves but you have to directly kill The Boss so I count her.

He's lying xD You have to touch cel, you have to push ropeburn off the building onto the ledge, you have to defeat the people on the boat, and the sniper level is IMPOSSIBLE without taking out the snipers. you WILL DIE if you try to run past them. Also you have to kill jackknife as well as helicopter pilot.

For fallout 3, getting the mezmeteon and a slave collar is incredibly beneficial to a pacifist run. Mesmerize them, then give them a slave collar, then take it off. They will be indebted to you and won't attack, in fact they'll even engage in combat alongside you if they're around. Ironically though this causes a huge hit to karma.

In my opinion, it wasn't forcing you to go do the pacifist run, what's factual though that It's on the player's hands. It's entirely the player's choice. Also, the pacifism aspect wasn't the only huge portion of its marketing. The other huge portions of its marketing was popular demand, played by KZbinrs and famous people, MatPat giving a copy of Undertale to the pope, overwhelmingly positive reviews, nominee of The Game Award of Best Roleplaying Game, BAFTA Games Award for Story, The Game Award of Games for Change, and The Game Award for Best Independent game. To the list, I wouldn't say it's a murdery game, but it has the pacifist aspect so it kinda fits on this list. It depends on your morality, I would say.

Dylan Morikawa TL;DR: Postal is a cult classic series of comedy shooter games. Postal 2 is the best (7or8/10) of the series, Postal 3 is literally a box of weaponized AIDS, don’t play it. Long version: Postal is a shooter franchise (top-down/twinstick, FPS, TPS, it depends) named after the 90s American slang “going postal,” in which someone becomes uncontrollably angry to the point of violence and often in a workplace setting, it was made infamous by the United States Postal Service. Anyway, in contrast to Postal 1, where you have to kill all enemies and harmless NPCs to advance to the next area, Postal 2 (a cult classic) and Postal 3 (utter shit) can technically be beaten without having to kill anyone, but the games will tempt you with leaving weapons absolutely everywhere and will force you to interact with jerkass NPCs while exploring a town where no one likes you. The game pretty much wants to piss you off with trivial bullshit until you pull your weapon out and go postal, but you don’t have to. For example, in Postal 2, you can choose to wait in line at the store and pay for your groceries, which is an actual mission in the game, or you could pull out a machine gun that you stole from your neighbor’s house and rob the place while the Middle-Eastern store owner and his many wives retaliate going Taliban/Al-Qaeda/ISIS on your ass. You get a special message if you put up with the trivial crap, not get murdered by any of the hate groups, and beat the game without killing anyone or stealing anything. It says “Thank you for playing, Jesus.” I highly recommend Postal 2 if you’re a fan of ultra-violent semi-open world FPS games with a dark sense of humor. Postal 1 is an alright top-down shooter, but it doesn’t play the violence off for laughs. This one is actually murderer/terrorist simulator. Postal 3 is absolute garbage and was licensed off to an incompetent team of developers. Updates and later editions of Postal 2 protest the sequel by hiding a Postal 3 box in the junkyard or in a toilet. Pissing on it give you an achievement for the Steam version.

Agreed, watchdogs 2 deserves a mention. With the entire city turned into a lethal weapon, it's entirely possible to kill someone without even being there. However I do believe there is a mission where you have to avenge Horatio and I think you HAVE to kill the main bad guy. It is possible to let a rabbid dog loose on him, but if the dog fails you're kind of screwed, and lets be honest, the dog is going to fail. There are 7 guys with guns in the room.

The only arrows I use in thief are non-lethal ones like the water arrows and the firework one and the moss ones ! While killing with knives will have the guardsmen in pain and it makes a lot of noise, so I prefer the blackjack(small club) to put them to sleep..So I think that trying to play something, or do something, without killing is quite interesting, even fun and challenging ! It's also more realistic, in real life the chances that you would die if you took the aggressive approach are damn high.

Well, with liberal use of takedowns and buying every round of non-lethal ammo I could find, I got to Panchea with about 120 tranqs, a similar number of taser charges and a bunch of gas grenades. Taking out all the crazies wasn't that hard. Last bridge was easy if you lure with loud noises and then break gas bottles.

In Epic Mickey you can choose between melting and disintegrating your enemies with thinner or turning them good with paint. Whatever you decide affects the characters you meet throughout the game at the end for better or worse.
