You gotta admit, this is genius on the Machine's part. A robot that uses mimic tech to stun/hypnotize the dolls, and then uses string to retarain them, and stores them in its own body to transport them? As soon as the Seamstress came out, the dolls should've been fucked.

God, seeing this again makes me start to question the mental states of the characters... Imagine seeing the body of someone who you knew, who was supposed to be dead, and their body is very slowly coming towards you. Or having the shock of seeing said body suddenly appear out of nowhere and flash lights at you. 5 looked so dazed during the whole scene, 1 was obviously terrified, and when 8 came to, he was very confused. I feel like if those three lived long enough, they’d be in one LONG therapy session.

I was 4 years old when this movie first came out. I remember that me and my 3 year old brother used to look at movie previews at my dads work, and I must have first heard of 9 there. And that image of 7 in the clutches of the Seamstress was one of the earliest things I remember seeing. But the Seamstress didn’t scare me, it intrigued me. I guess my history with this machine is why it’s my favorite in the movie.

The plot is simple, and the characters are complex. There is so much going on psychologically. No matter how many times you look at clips of it, you'll always find something deeper going on with the characters (and not pervertedly!). Actually I agree and you're right. The short is something of a dead end, that's why it's a short and not a movie. Also in the short there were differences like the cat creature having a green eye, the stitch-punks not being able to talk and how all the souls all generally looked alike while the living ones look nothing alike (But notice that 5 kept his one eye and prosthetic leg so aesthetic differences are reflected in the souls they just didn't exist). That evidence and more supports changes.

As a kid, I was actually scared of this thing, it's probably the combination 2 being used as a lure and it having a doll's head, but now it's i think it's a pretty cool design the same could be said about the rest of the machines in this film.
