Regarding the speed rings, if you try out bones race redz bearings you'll find that they have integrated speed rings and spacers. They cost a little more, but it makes swapping wheel sets a billion times more convenient.

hey, thank you for keeping the music and voice volume at one level. *that's how professionals work* on most channels, the music is so awefully loud and the voice is super quiet, so you have to constantly adjust the volume manually and that makes my mouse slip over the dislike button very easily ;-)

I get it. I'm someone who's hard of hearing and automatic subtitles can't always understand what's being said. Gamers like PewdiePie and Markiplier have someone do the subtitles and it's amazing yet these beauty gurus making millions can't bother to hire someone to put real/accurate subtitles. Shane Dawson, in particular, is notorious for his LOUD and I mean LOUD background music especially in almost every docu-series. Annoys me and is quite disappointing.

Definitely 8.36. It’s so universally effective. I used to ride 8.75 and an 8.00 amd everything in between and 8.36 is definitely the most effective at everything. Light enough to get technical with, wide enough to shred tf outta bowls.

you mentioned on your live stream about how you get nervous to vlog. when you show the clips at the end of you messin up it kind of displays that. but i think that it is more relatable that way. Im a 26 y/o 230 lbs skater dad and i don't like going to skateparks because of that. I feel super out of place, and when you look awkward, or act awkward it reminds me that you can be awkward and still skate. I really like to skate and to see someone who also feels out of place at times is motivating for me. im done being mushy now. XD

I re-gripped a board yesterday and although I went from underneath I had a similar angle and it went so smoothly. My Swiss Army knife wasn’t the sharpest either. I think the preparation scrubbing of the edge with the blunt tool is the trick. Was cleanest one yet. I can’t wait to do another one!

Perderated holes in griptape makes it super easy to tear big holes in your griptape when you land griptape down on a rail or ledge. The small holes easily tear into big holes.

Great tip on waxing above wheels for wheel bite. I'd also add this: Apply a thin layer of wax across nose/tail -- right where they bend/along top of plate of truck. It helps and your nose/tails will be smoother.

Speedrings are to make sure your wheels stay on. If you bearings lock up the bearing can rub on the nut and spin it off, using speed rings makes that half as possible.

If you don’t know what truck it is, look for your crooked grind mark. That’s your front. The evenly grinded one is the back. You prevent air bubbles in your grip by laying it down from the nose or tail and slowly make your way to the other side of the board. Wax won’t stop wheelbite, you need to get harder bushings and tighten your trucks up. Don’t put stickers on your board... it just adds an adhesive that will interfere with a slide. The most important tip: Don’t wear a helmet skating a box you look like a nerd.

I would explode bushings doing it your way being 6’2” (I’ve done this twice, it suuucks!) If you want bushings that feel broken in right away get the hard bones bushings (usually white or black) and get thunder, silver or even Bullet trucks cause they have a much shorter break in period. It’ll give you a more poppy snap and a nice responsive turn, also if you have hard bushings. Wheel bite (and speed wobble) can also be avoided by tightening your trucks in increments. I ride tight trucks cause I do lots of big gaps, flip in/out stuff and a lot of rail skating. But you know what? It’s all preference. I find that tight trucks works amazing for flip tricks, grinds and gaps.

I've always had two sets of wheels. Collect as many washers and spacers as possible. Your bearings will last longer if there is less pressure on them. Also buy a digital micrometer to measure the internal spacing of the wheel between the bearings and then measure the spacers and choose 4 appropriate spacers. This will put the load on the bearings centre and spacer as you tighten down the axle nut (you won't lose as much speed as well). Also buy trucks where the metal on the wheel side is square to the axle or else everything will be off and cause uneven loading and wear. Decent trucks come with this as a quality control from the factory but it's always good to re check

If you skate without roadside washers, the nut will likely eat into the roadside bushing, so it really shouldn't be done. But you can safely omit the boardside washer though; if you do, your trucks will feel WAY looser, due to 2 things: 1) there is no more lateral restriction on the boardside bushings and 2) there is a slight decrease in the trucks' kingpin angle. Although there is also a slight ride-height decrease from the absence of the boardside washer, and when combined with the decrease in kingpin angle, could mean that you will get a higher chance of wheelbite.

A bit late but.. I'm also using helmet and got a cheap one, I add to sew the sweat-foam piece as after a couple washings the small fabric get loose from the foam, glue fail. And it's a bit small but it fits well (like it's short, made for a large headed kid). I'm looking into getting a better one. I'd say get a good one in the middle price range, with good quality "sweat pads foam" (and for adults) which covers more than other lighter cheaper ones.
