ABSOLUTELY! The reason many are in dire financial straits is that they were never trained in managing money. "You can have it NOW! with easy monthly, or weekly, payments." Get cash NOW from your local loan shark, and pay 200% interest. Why aren't these skills taught in school? East to answer. The banks and the big corporations control the schools (erroneously called "education")

I can really appreciate all of your points on what a man needs to become better In many areas. But it's a sad sad time in our society that we as a people,white men,Black men.,Asian men and Latino men who forget how important it is to realize that there really is a God our heavenly father who knows all of our needs.God must be first and there is strength and knowledge in the word of God. There is nothing like investing In God.The wisdom that is in the word of God goes beyond all of the points you describe and does so much more to make us real men. This is problem in America because we turn our back on God and the word in the holy scriptures. God makes men goes beyond who they are not our own understanding. Let's check ourselves.

Growing up, I was always more of a saver. I didn't like spending money and would rather put it away and save it (often to an extreme). Now, at 24, that has served me very well. I've always been opposed to debt, so I never got into trouble with that. And, I learned about Dave Ramsey and have modified his Baby Steps to fit my life. Compared to many of my peers, who spend plenty of time and money on video games, entertainment, and other time/money wasters, I recently bought my first home and am saving for a future marriage/family. I purposely got a 2 forms of debt, earlier, to build a credit score for the mortgage. But, I always paid the credit card off before the end of every month and a $250 personal loan I took out was paid regularly each month, as well. So, the only interest I've ever paid has been on the mortgage itself. Also, the credit card was a cash rewards card, so I actually earned a bit of money with a credit card. I have an emergency fund that's right where I want it. I automatically invest through my work. I was investing on the side, as well, but I've given up on that for now to focus on other things, like paying off my mortgage early. I always live on a budget, spend less than I make, and have a few things that I'm saving for: marriage/family and mission trips. Honestly, this seems so basic. Yet, most people lack even basic common sense when it comes to money and finances. It's really sad. I'm exceptional in this area, but I really shouldn't be. I haven't really done anything difficult. I just used common sense and a small about of planning and critical thinking.

@benjamin ramsey Thank you for your comment. I actually don't mind reading longer ones (mine are usually too long). As far as movies, games, anime, etc, there's nothing wrong with those. Just realize that many people overdue it and spend far too much time with those sorts of entertainment. A little in moderation is perfectly fine. The key is simply balance. I once spent an entire summer doing almost nothing but playing online games and watching Star Trek. That was a waste of time and I got to the point of literally feeling like I was wasting my life away. But, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of video games or watching some TV and movies. Just don't go overboard, like I did. As far as marriage and children, I'd encourage you to think on that a bit more. At the end of the day, what are you really living for? What really maters in life? For me, I say #1 is my relationship with God. That strengthens my core, develops my character, and gives me ultimate purpose extending beyond this life. #2 is family. That means helping my parents back home and ensuring they are doing alright. That also means looking forward to a family of my own and ensuring I am ready for that responsibility. #3 is my responsibility to those around me (church, community, nation, and world). That includes everything from serving at church, helping others in need in my community, voting and civil participation, and keeping my little part of this world well-kept. When you're old and on your death bed, what is it that you have left behind? What impact have you left on others? Have you made a difference in anyone's life? The greatest impact you make is on those closest to you, namely your wife and children.
@johnc10145 жыл бұрын
@benjamin ramsey That's fair. You're still reasonably young. Though, none of us really knows how long we have. When you're young, you think you have all this time. When you're older, you realize how short life actually is. Time doesn't really determine anything. The person you become is a result of the choices you make, not time. I encourage you to figure out who you want to become and make choices in pursuit of that, whatever it is. I can't tell you how to live your life or what to value most. I only say to live life intentionally.

Great video! Question, on explaining what a man is and masculinity overall. What is your take on the new commercial by Bonobos? It's about masculinity. Interested in knowing your thoughts.
@Orderofman6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Watson that video has nothing to do with masculinity. It’s about a bunch of “men” (at least one of which is not a man) who want to hijack the term ‘masculine’ and make it something that it isn’t because they don’t fit the definition. Look, if a dude wants to be effeminate, fine, but you don’t get to take a word, and just make it mean whatever the hell you want. Tune into this week’s Friday Field Notes as I’m breaking it down a bit more.
@andrewwatson4656 жыл бұрын
Order of Man Thank you for the quick response. I agree with you, and it was put in front of a video about mens style. I thought it was a slap in the face to what a true man is, as you explained in another video. I'm looking forward to seeing the field notes this week. Again thanks for all you do.

Hey everyone, I've been following Ryan and the Order of Man podcast, youtube channel, IG, and recently got added to the FB Page. His values and beliefs are things that align closely with mine and I identify with often. If you're interested in seeing what it's like to see his podcast and actually live it out, I try to do that on my youtube channel. If you're on the FB Page, (if you're not, you should be!) you may have seen my post regarding hobbies, and a lot of your suggestions (BJJ/MMA/Muay Thai, Scuba Diving, Shooting, Hunting, Archery, Surfing, and plenty more!) are things I'm really considering getting involved in, and you can bet that I'll be uploading the footage of me learning those new skills to the channel. In a nutshell, if you want to see a 22 year old, recent college grad, working in engineering, learning and applying what we discuss here on the Order Of Man, subscribe to my channel! My goal is to make it to one of Ryan's podcasts one day. Thank you, men. - Ryan Umagat
@ryanumagat1016 жыл бұрын
And not just hobbies, but the mindsets/mentality and skillsets discussed in the video will be a big part of my channel. As a 22 year old, how I handle my money now (investing, saving, getting out of debt, etc.) is extremely important so I'd be willing to learn a lot from you and also share what I learn, I'm basically just starting off in life and in my career, and that itself is already an exciting and interesting journey, so if you're even considering about following me along, please consider subscribing here and over on my channel!
