The stock Smart roadster had a 700cc 3-cyl turbo motor. Brabus bolted two of those together for a 1400cc V6 biturbo, but since the turbos were the same, you still had the same lag. It did make it to production but in limited numbers.

No mistake that European engines are getting larger as well, while Americans are downsizing as with the new Ford GT

If that comment is aimed towards me, I am no American and I don't consider an engine of size of 2.0 - 2.5L really large. It can be pretty decent and definitely not small for some cars, like the 2.0L in the Subaru BRZ, but compared to other engine, like small blocks, AMG V12s or whatever else bigger you can think of, it is or they are relatively small.

Some insurance guy just had a heart attack watching the events documented at 6:10. The first Ferrari model, 2 were made... and somebody is driving one... in the rain... on public streets. After simply watching that, I think I need a drink But seriously - I like your channel mate!

Regarding the BRM you should have given credit to the brilliant engine designer Peter Berthon. He ran a Ford, Lotus and BMW dealership in Rye (near the Weslake Factory!) in the early 70s and as a lad of 16 he once took me to London in an Elan +2 at a wicked rate. At a hotel reception I met Colin Chapman, Graham Hill and other famous motor sport personalities. Great memory. Unfortunately he died prematurely.

The big prob with the motor, it would go from a very tractable 400 HP to something near 900 HP in a very short space of about 75-100 RPM... very difficult to tame.

That engine is australian (or NZ, don`t remember exactly) "Synergy V8". Extremely cool engine, especially with weight of around 70-80 kg and power output of 350 bhp NA (up to 500 bhp with turbo). But price is 70k USD :C
@linchester84648 жыл бұрын
El KukS NZ and yup i was like blown away by the power and spec as well. Also it still revs up to 11k rpm. Bunta will love to drop that engine into the GT86

I was under the impression that it used Hayabusa architecture, not Ninja. Either way, hearing it rev up to 10k on that dyno run is absolutely astounding!
@linchester84648 жыл бұрын
LegacyMuse www.synergypower.co.nz/ the company which built the engine is in the link. It has 3 version from 2L to a 3L what it amazes me is even with the fusion, the engine still behaves like a high reving motobike engine and net crazy rpms. 2L with over 14K rpm is nuts! That almost the same rpm range like the current F1 V6 Turbo engine.

Mazda MX-3 1.8 24V V6. Unusually small for a V6 and mass produced too. I had one a few years back, unsurprisingly it loved to rev and sounded pretty good too. Always thought about dropping a J spec 2.5 in - externally the engines were identical
