It is a beautiful instrument. I stopped playing 12 strings as I got older. Too hard to handle. That sounds so cool and different. Great clarity in your playing. The extra string combo definitely ads that chorus effect. Thank you

Wasn’t ready to spend this amount for the Taylor 9 string without trying it. So, I bought an inexpensive Alvarez 8 string,(octaves on the D & G), to test the concept… I love it, so the Taylor is on the radar!

Taylor #30. I love getting different size Taylor bodies along with different tone woods. Yes, this has beautiful flamed maple and Lutz spruce but the simplistic styled top and the absence of an electric pickup combine to knock this 9-string design out of the park. Thanks Jon!

Wow - lovely guitar! A few years back I stumbled across a Martin 7 String (octave on the G). Wish I'd grabbed it. This 9 String idea is very tempting . . .

This is a beautiful guitar! (I am Martin owner).I would prefer doubling 3-5,but 6 are plenty for me now.

Agreed. It sounds great but I have enjoyed strings to change and keep in tune. I don't enjoy changing strings.

Great look and great sound, Cooper, but... why wouldn't I just get a 12-string, and pick the strings I want to double-up on, from none to six? I'm assuming that this thing probably costs more than your average stock 12-string...

I was lucky enough to stumble across a Taylor 9-string baritone a few years ago. That was awesome. It’s sort of the guitar for player who has everything, but it was pretty sweet.

The baritone is an 8 string, not a 9 string… sounds great though!

i just have to take off 3 strings from my Talylor 12 string? or perhaps not. i did take off the lower strings to make my 12 striing in an octave nashville tuned guitar.

What are the string gages? I got Taylor 652ce builder’s edition. If I remove the octave strings on E,G,high E , I think it will sound like 9 string guitar. May be I can use light gage strings instead of extra light gage strings. What do you think?

Music Villa usually orders a number of 9-string Taylor's. Not those tone woods. I would be interested to see one with red ironbark and Lutz top in a 592 body.

This isn't a new concept...Alvarez was making a 9 string guitar (the 5058) back in the 70s. People like Michael Martin Murphey (of "Wildfire" fame) and Waylon Jennings both played the Alvarez 9 string acoustics. The Alvarez 9 strings are SUPER had to find...took me YEARS of active searching before I ran across one. They have a slim neck, so it's not like a big wide 12 string neck. If you find an old Alvarez 9 string, BUY IT. ;-)

What is the nut width on this. I played 12 string for decades but my hand can no longer handle the 1-7/8” nut for more than a minute. This sounds close enough to a 12 string for me.
