Now I rarely have to buy anything, just an occasional piece when nothing else will do. I shopped sales for years and always found the best deals.. I give my quilted items to family and friend for gifts so it saves me money at the holidays. Quilting is the best therapy!

I really appreciate your viewpoint on frugality. I love being frugal and mindful of my spending, but that's not to say that I never splurge. And, those things may change through the years. For the last few years, I have purchased Daily Disposable Contacts. There was a time when I wouldn't have even considered buying these, because they are almost double the cost of the monthly ones for my prescription. Now, for me, I say that they are worth every cent. We also have a few streaming services that we use for tv watching. We are paying a lot less than we used to pay for cable and have many more choices of programs we like to watch. My husband pays for a weekly lawn service for our yard. It is another thing that we feel is worth it for us. He used to do the yard care himself and did not like it at all. I like reading in the comments about what people's individual save/splurge preferences are. There are so many different priorities.

Getting books at the library doesn't save me money because I forget to take them back! It doesn't have to cost a fortune to have plenty of books to read. I read enough that I like to get ebooks on sale at amazon - I buy books that are 3.99 or less; plus for the authors that I already know I like, get the physical book once in a while. I have bought some things from SHEIN clothes wise and also Walmart, but I prefer Macys / JCPenneys or Target for clothes. I don't shop for clothes very often. I think my number one thing is getting snacks or ordering out, or just buying craft supplies that I need. Otherwise I might buy myself a figure or something once in a great while. Starbucks I only get like 4-5 times a year. I like going to restaurants with family sometimes too. But id say craft supplies and ordering out are my 2 things I do most.

We have the Aldi pod machine, and yes, I have reusable pods. I have not seen the Keurig brand here in rural Australia. My family has no problem with spending money on at home coffee pods because DIY coffee is far cheaper than takeaway coffee. If you did not buy the 100 kcups for $30, can you imagine just how expensive 100 takeaway coffees would cost you. I have a dairy allergy so I use either coconut, almond or macadamia milks. Those fancy nut milks for DIY coffee are still far cheaper

✍Hello...I grew up in the 40-50s when people didn't have fast food restaurants on every corner or in between or go out to restaurants on a regular basis. Usually people would go out only on special occasions. I've always loved Coca-Cola and no diet so I'll not be giving up my favorite beverage or my Lays potato chips but I have had to switch to their lightly salted Lays potato chips. Potato chips are my "cigarette of choice" I've never smoked but chips have always been my go to and my weakness...my Dr laughed cause he also agreed with me that's his go to also. I'm a widow and my oldest daughter now lives with me and she takes me to the grocery store or Dr appointments at least 1 time a month and we some time do eat a sit down dinner. Good Night😴 God Bless Bye from Ohio🌹

I have tried to cancel it several times, but every time I run out of coffee, I have to buy the "best" bag on the supermarket, and I remember why I like a good grain so much, one time, I ended up just trashing the cheap bag because it tasted like dirty water and didn't smell. I like my Keurig but I prefer to use my own coffee with the disposable filters, mostly for the environment. For 50 years I cut my own hair. I do get it cut at a salon for $25. If it was any higher I would be cutting my hair again. I don't eat out, buy take out, or go to coffee shops, concerts, ball games, or other entertainment except when traveling. I do have cable, but just internet with streaming services would probably cost more and I prefer to watch it live. I have Amazon prime mostly for the shipping which I use every week and I consider the streaming a bonus. For Netflix I choose the one with the ads for $6.99. I have never had a cleaning or landscaping service and prefer to do it myself. The one thing that I do spend a lot of money on is travel either alone or with family and friends which is usually 5-6 weeks every year. If there is something that I really want I just go ahead and purchase it. I have spent a lot more money than normal on shoes because I want good support. I also splurged on merino wool and cashmere tops, socks, and sweaters because they are far better than cotton when traveling light and layering. I am an inconsistent reader so I prefer to purchase the books used on Amazon and then just resell on E-bay or donate to Friends of the Library. I use them also to purchase books for $1-2 or DVDs for $1-3.
