Funny this sounded like a list for women. With the exception of sandals. Bedazzled denim? By the way, most men didn't wear square toes in the 80's and 90's either.

Well said. I never really liked all the stuff she mentioned anyway, studded belts, logo shirts, those little knee pants that look like something little Lord Fauntleroy used to wear and of course the Hallmark of alphabet people those sandals. But what she left out was those flat-brimmed baseball caps they like to wear backwards like there's some kind of Gangsta and the baggy clothes, and they're not even ethnic. They look like little alphabet boys Straight Outta San Francisco

I’m 59, still pretty athletic, full head of hair, conservative, and I refuse to dress like a retiree. It’s just not me. I still work out six days a week and could easily go down to the park and shoot hoops with teenagers. I agree 1000% with all your recommendations! Classic looks are classic for a reason. Thank you for reinforcing classic style. I think the goal for a man is to look clean and attractive but not as if they are out looking for a date (and I’ve been married for 23 years) every time they go out of their home. This is my first time watching your channel and I’m super impressed with your modesty and truthfulness, and humility. Subbed!

Also, what you have told there is one big truth. I appreciate that very much. From all the told we can briefly say three things there. And those are: 1. Find something that is comfortable for you; 2. Match clothes properly and appropriately; and 3. You should not exaggerate when finding appropriate clothes (and especially do not exaggerate in flagrance's). Thank you very much Courtney 😉😘🙂🤓😎❤❤❤.

Pretty much my thought too. Also, what girls will like you to look like really vary in the girl. Personally I like girls who are somewhere in between geek & sporty, so I'll be wearing stuff that is somewhere in between because I know she will like it. So long as it fit the activity we are practicing on that day. If we are supposed to go somewhere fancy I'll dig a better shirt and a tie from the portal to hell at the back of my drawer, but, yeah, it really vary on what you want to look like, if you want to like the image you are giving, if you want the girl to like it, or find 1 compromise somewhere in between.

I wear cargo shorts and T shirt after June 1. Also a ball cap. Change that to a straw hat above 85F. If it is not comfortable. Not wearing it. In winter. If it don't keep frostbite away NOT wearing it. Oh and I stay outside because indoors those in style fragrances are noxious. I also wear what ever fits BEST on my feet. Fashion is not kind to the feet. My female fashion chaser has problems with her feet. I don't.

On a side note regarding footwear: take care of your feet! Slippers, flip flops, most sandals, all crocs, and many other things are not only ugly but are terrible on your foot health. If your feet go down, they take the rest of the body down with them. No crocs for yard work either! Wear shoes that support, protect, and propel you during your activities.

A person can choose what they want to wear, when they are at peace within themselves and not seeking the judgement of what society dictates what they should/shouldn’t be wearing. Now if your employer requires you to wear certain attire for the purpose of compliance to their dress code, that’s understandable. However, your personal preference on your time is whatever you feel comfortable with.

Shredded jeans, and especially shorts below the knee, are very comfortable for me to wear as a casual outfit. I love the ones with many pockets especially, for they eliminate my having to carry a bag for some essential outdoor items. All my male and female friends, and MOST acquaintances consider me as a real gentleman, with high confidence, compassionate, forgiving, helpful to the needy, and quite funny. I do NOT believe any lady should disregard such hard-earned virtues, just because I love to wear shorts below the knee. Sorry Courtney on this one. But you said that you like guys who do NOT allow their actions to be influenced by what others say, especially if they are NOT MISBEHAVING. And you also said that you and most other ladies cherish and love candidness and honesty. Peace and love. Tony.

As a *very* skinny guy (thyroid issues, can't do much about it) I advocate for wrist accessories 'cause they obscure your thin wrist which is always notable. Watch on one hand and bracelet on the other - works for me.
@josesantana770
@josesantana770 Жыл бұрын
Agree as your best option. You can always wear a bracelet instead on the same wrist with your watch but it has to be a very thin one so it doesn't damage the watch. If you do so don't wear anything on your other wrist. If you have dark skin use golden ones (yellow). If you have light skin wear silver. Like you, my wrist are thin reason why I choose belt watches or very thin bracelet ones. I notice big guys with big bones arms look really well with BIG WATCHES. That applies also to BRACELETS. The color of your skin also applies for this. Even if you are overweight you should follow this, wearing a nice big bracelet and watch with a short sleeves shirt in dark color (not necessarily black but dark grey or blue). If you wears long sleeves shirt, don't try to cover your big watch, let it show. Big arms will match it.

I agree with you in general regarding loud logos, but one exception would be when going to a sporting event or sports bar. Those are places where wearing team gear (which often have loud logos) are not only encouraged but required. The main limitation for sporting events is that the logo has to be of one of the teams participating at that specific event.

Yeah I can discern that she communicates respectfully, understands men, and is smart to lock down a guy that fits her. I find that many young women today fail to understand that no relationship is a bed of roses. Love is a choice and not made to be a vacuum based on “feelings.” How many want to commit to women who love based on how they feel? Then she wakes up one day, and leaves because she doesn’t feel good on her period? Real Love isn’t a vacuum, it’s a choice. What’s with all these single mothers? Where’s the father? It’s like they expect him to enter nurturing baby world with her when he’s waiting for the baby to get a little older to receive instruction. We’re still doing is making the same mistake that goes back to the 60’s but on a greater scale. The result is a fatherless generation and a plague of single older women 30 and above. Now as for falling in Love….there’s nothing romantic about rolling into a ditch, so make sure your tires aren’t flat.

I retired shorts that go below the knee after I graduated hs. I was kinda nervous about wearing short shorts, since I grew up going to a strict school, but 3 yrs later, I feel more comfortable wearing short shorts than I do anything else. Aside from that, I always enjoy watching your vids - you give great advice, Courtney!

I feel like shorts that won't have a good chance of covering your knees at least minimally in a fall, are the mark of being too old (or domesticated) to 'get outside' or be active and I didn't realise how strongly I felt about that until about now. If your legs look like sticks you've got different problems than clothing, that I'm serious about.

Ahh the length of shorts for men... always a tricky one. Im 53 but look more Like 43 I’m told and I always have challenges with shorts length cause I know I don’t need to be wearin no long ass Dickies that go way past my knees (which I still enjoy wearing), on the other hand tbh shorts that are above the knee more “appropriate” for someone my age, always seem to be that “preppy” style... which clearly ain’t me. I am in complete alignment with this list. As men we have to take our appearance, perception and body that we put out to the world more serious. This is why I hit the gym and try to dress well and apply fragrances. This would help with self-confidence, self-worth as well as make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Also, this is the best way to combat a lot but not all of women over inflated egos by looking your best self. They'll view you as a catch.

This reeks of a guy who can't get a woman and is desperately trying anything he can to validate himself and force false self confidence because he doesn't have any in who he actually is. You know what women like? Real self confidence in who they are, not one who has to watch KZbin videos or go through 10 steps to feel like they look their best. Give you a little example. A while back I was on the patio of a restaurant/bar, drinking beer and smoking a cigar. A couple friends were going to join me and one of them brought a female friend (she was notable younger than me and he had no shot with this hottie). She was Courtney's type, the preppy younger one with all these "ideas". There I sit in my below the knee cargo shorts and t-shirt in the hot florida weather. The guy, after arriving, says I shouldn't smoke the cigar in front of her or at least ask. I told him fuck off, we came here to smoke and drink. If she doesn't like cigar smoke, she can leave. Other than that, I was jovial and respectful. I was me, who I am, while the others were kissing her ass because she was a hot college student. You know who had a date with her a couple days later and was fucking her? Me. Not the simps.

@@Swearengen1980 Agree with you. What this guy is describing (taking care of your apparence, paying attention to the way your dress etc.) is basically a female attitude. @@sachaketchummaitredegalar Yep, being a real man will get you further with women than what cologne you put on. I also hate it that men call it "fragrances". I was at the springs last weekend with my kid. Springs are obviously in a rural area, mostly country folk there. But when the city slickers come in, you can tell. 3 early 20s guys come down and from 10 yards away, their cologne was overpowering and disgusting. They kept their perfectly shaped new hat on and their fancy shades. You'd have thought they were at a Vegas pool. Not one girl there even looks in their direction. Most women look at those types like they're trying too hard and basically less of a man for acting like a woman because people like Courtney tell them they should. Yet their age complains about being single all the time while at my age, I have no trouble getting women just by being a masculine man, wearing normal clothes, and may or may not wear cologne...usually not unless I'm on a date, definitely not for doing outdoor activities, running errands, etc. Be a man, be straight forward, thoughtfully plan a date and don't ask her opinion or thoughts, surprise her. Great advise. I'm 56 but look 35...seriously, people never believe I'm an old man. I guess that's a good thing but I try not to play that up because I'm a little self conscious about looking so young for my age. I definitely predate the era of the F boy and I don't even know what an E boy is. I tend to wear clothing that is what you would expect from a gentleman who lives an active outdoor lifestyle. I tend to wear well fitting, clean, solid colored t-shirts (rarely graphic Ts) or a well fitting button down shirt and jeans or hiking pants (without multiple pockets) as my typical summer look. In the winter I wear sweaters and nice simple coats with a knit hat as my typical winter the uniform. I wear boots a lot which are practical for my lifestyle but they are nice boots that are not muddy or torn up. I never wear a fragrance, never have. I think the most important thing is to be clean, be fit, dress appropriately, and be a good person. I do have a pair of crocs to slip on when going out into my yard with my dog...that's my guilty pleasure.

I'm a middle-aged man and I wear suits daily. For men, we have a more 'restrictive' dress code, and if you are not quite short and slim, the suit builds the 'inverted' triangle on you. I usually receive compliments from ladies, and strangely, I was the only one wearing a complete tuxedo at a black tie event a couple of weeks ago. Strangely, I couldn't see any females wearing evening gowns but in the end, dress however makes you feel good and comfortable. If somebody like myself wears a suit when I play pool with my buddies or a tuxedo at the opera, it's because it makes me feel comfortable and true to myself. "Auguri e Credi in te stesso"

PRO TIP for fragrance: I tend to go camping a lot. Every time I come home my clothes continue to smell like camp fire for several days and the women around me tell me how much they like it. So, I created a little hack. I seal up the cracks around my closet door with a towel and burn tree sap like incense inside the closet. Basically I smoke my clothes in the closet. So my wardrobe smells like camp fire for about a week or two after I smoke it. Eventually the smell fades. I've experimented with all kinds of different tree saps like piñon pine which is my favorite. Cedar, loblolly pine, spruce, etc works great. You can also purchase Juniper Ridge incense sticks that have other scents like dessert grass or Juniper berry. Although I haven't tried it yet I also want to try purchasing wood shavings and leaving them in my closet. When I was a kid my dad was a lumber jack and would always come home smelling like sawdust. Turns out women like that too. Some times I also soak a cloth with essential oils and toss it into the dryer for 10min after the clothes are dry. It gives things a more natural smell of plants instead of lab chemicals. I also put some diluted essential oils in a spray bottle and spray my couch, carpet every once in awhile. A little goes a long way. WARNING: Some women dont like the smell of campfire smoke. If this occurs you should break up with them immediately and never talk to them again, lol.

@@inconnu4961 - I'll assume everyone reading these comments is smart enough to NOT catch their closet on fire. If burning raw tree sap, practice outside first so you know what to expect. Burn it within a metal container like a sheet pan covered with a metal colander. Or inside a metal can with holes poked in it. If using an incense stick, make sure there is something to catch the ashes. Have a fire extinguisher directly next to you. And for goodness sake, DONT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED. If needed, you can cover your smoke detector with that sticky plastic wrap used for covering food in the fridge. It sticks to the ceiling well but comes off easy also.

@@inconnu4961- By the way if you like my fragrance ideas I've got so many others. There's another project I haven't pulled the trigger on just yet but it's in the works. I recently realized that I could hang curtain tracks or rods from the ceiling in my bedroom. In effect I can hang floor to ceiling black velvet curtains that would cover all 4 walls of the room. So I want to empty my entire room of stuff leaving the floor bare and clean. Then, set a 32-42" OLED TV on the floor against one wall and play a real recording of a fire place. With the black velvet behind it the bezel of the TV disappears and the fire begins to look more real. There are several videos available on KZbin. Then, leave all my windows open during the fall or winter weather so the room gets into the 60f range.... Sweater weather. So at that point I'll have a completely blacked out room with a fire on one wall and some cool air. Then, I'll spray the carpet with hunters soil fragrance. I've used it in the past many times so I know the smell lingers for a good while. Setup either a queen sized floor mattress (there are folding foam ones available online) or small 2 person tent. Then, heres the pièce de résistance.....A Dark Skys DS1 planetarium pointed at the ceiling. I bought one a year ago and it's pretty great. It has a few quirks I hope they'll improve in the next model but overall it's still really neat. So thats my big date night idea for the discerning woman who wants to glamp in the city without going camping. My Indoor camping dreamscape idea: - Black velvet curtains covering all walls - Room temperature around 60-65f - OLED TV playing a fire place - Soil fragrance on the carpet - Juniper Ridge piñon pine incense - Bluetooth speaker behind the curtain playing some prerecorded forrest sounds - Planetarium shining stars on the ceiling - Bedding on the floor. Perhaps even some animal fur blankets if you can find them. - Food: A canteen full of Bears Milk (milk, rum, honey, cinnamon) and for dinner it's got to be chicken paprikash. - Some small folding camp chairs to sit in while you sip Bears Milk looking at the stars. I have a whole other dreamscape planned for my balcony but that's another rabbit hole of a story.

Another point. For those who say it does not matter what one wears: Dressing appropriately for the setting and the people you meet is done out of respect for the people you meet. It is not about the cost of what you wear, but it is about what you are "saying" to the people you meet by the things you wear. For those that might say, "I don't care what people think, I will wear what I want" that is the message you are giving to the people you meet. It says, "you are not important enough to me for me to care about what you think." At best that is an indication of an unaware person and at worst an inconsiderate person. Hello Courtney. I’ve never viewed your channel before but wanted to say thank you for the advice you gave. It’s very nice to know that there are still those who know how to be sensible and down to earth. By the way, there was nothing wrong with what you were wearing. Thanks again. God bless you. Bruce

Hello, Courtney! Great video as always! I was wondering if you could do a video/reaction video of any video that relates to how Asian Men struggle in the dating world. Most women for whatever reason flat out refuse to date an Asian Men due to the White Male Asian Female movement (WMAF). I often get told I'm funny and great on dates, but I'm Asian and get ghosted

Gen X man here, and I agree with everything you've said! Flip-flops should not be worn in public by men (except at the beach) and those under-the-knee shorts are horrible and make men look ridiculous. Everything else you said is right, as well. I just wanted to underscore those two. Thanks!

Agree with all of these. However, I will never stop the slides with long white socks, athletic shorts and hoodie aesthetic in the summer months of Canada. I can pretend to be a div 1 athlete in that outfit 😂

I'm disabled and at home. I love my crocs for going outside, especially if it's been raining ( not going to mess up cheap tennis shoes). I also like chains. I often wear crystals, a merkaba and all with my PTSD medical alert/contact info dog tags. Another set of dog tag chain which has my wedding ring on it ( fingers are stay too swollen anymore and not buying another one).. I used to wear cut off flannel shirts in high school with jeans. I didn't wear cut offs or other shorts until I was in my mid 20s. lol

I agree with not wearing studded belts, chains on outside, ripped jeans, and sandles with socks, but have to disagree with the 3/4 shorts thing as I personally find these comfortable, espscially when weather is warm enough in the UK (which can be hit and miss during spring and summer months) or somewhere warmer as these also help reduce my chance of developing sunburn on my legs.

I agree 100% with your fashion recommendations. I have a wardrobe for my Florida winters (scandels, shorts, & T's) and a different wardrobe (Wrangler jeans, hat, & boots) for ranching in Montana.

Love the look, Cortney. The long washed and combed hair with the minimal makeup and modest dress are very pleasing. In the humble opinion of a conservative man from the Midwest. All of these fashion tips align with my values. Honestly, most men are insecure in just being a man with opinion, value and virtue. If you are a man, you likely dress to work, not compete with runway models.

I wear sandals in the summer and many women have actually commented on my nice toes (weird, right?). If you take care of yourself and the whole outfit/style works, I have learned that sandals are not a problem.

I always wear a modest gold chain and a small gold crucifix outside of my t-shirt. I never would have thought that this would be considered a fashion no-no. But I will continue to wear it.

The benefit of being in my 60 is that i am completely oblivious to fashion. I wear what I like, I don’t dress for anyone else. Sometimes my jeans are ripped and covered in paint but that doesn’t stop me from going to the hardware store.
