Our tips was to do things as simply as possible: lots of snacks during the day, water bottles to remind me to drink, disposable dishes for the first 6 weeks so there were less dishes to clean, and we hired house cleaners during the new born phase.

Knowing the wake window was definitely my biggest tip with my second child! That and teaching the baby fall asleep without help makes a world of a difference.

What is wake window? For a newborn would it be like 2hr window for being awake then they should sleep?
@oksanakarpov6536
@oksanakarpov6536 3 жыл бұрын
It’s the amount of awake time babies need between naps. For a newborn they’re only supposed to be up for 45 min to an hour and that includes the feeding. Sometimes babies don’t show you that they are tired until way later and it gets harder to get them to sleep because they are so cranky.
@naila.a.88

@@oksanakarpov6536 thank you for sharing that info! I had no idea it was only 45 mins to an hour for newborns.

As a mom until your kids are older there is no such thing as a productive set routine. Yes I have a list of things I try to do in the same order every morning but some days it’s takes me two hours and other days it takes me four, depending on my child’s mood, behavior and needs.

I would HIGHLY encourage every mom to take the postpartum depression test. Even if you don’t think you have it and especially if it’s your first baby. Looking back, I totally had postpartum depression and most likely postpartum anxiety but I had no clue because I just assumed it was a normal part of having a newborn. Take the test and get help. I wish someone had told me about it as I could have gotten help and had a way better experience than I did.

Great work Carly! New parents need to know this stuff. When my daughter was little I found that it was really helpful not to say “I’m tired” out loud. If I started saying it, I felt 1000% more tired. Best wishes to all the new Mamas out there. You’re never alone - just ask for help and people will be there 💞

At nights when I feeding my baby boy (14 weeks old) I don't even use my phone at all and it is just so nice! Also do my to do list after I put my kids down to bed and I can fully relax for the evening and allow myself to watch some positive KZbin videos to just chill for the evening. 🥰

I'm currently pregnant with my second child, and I relate to this video so much! Once I found out I was pregnant again it was like an alarm went off, like okay, I HAVE to start prioritizing taking care of myself if I'm going to be able to do this. My daughter is 2.5 and since she was born I had gotten to a point where I was only showering twice a week (so embarrassing to admit 😩) , no exercise, no hobbies. I was so incredibly depressed and just exhausted. I'm in the second trimester now and happy to report that I'm showering regularly, going on walks as often as possible and accepting all the help that's offered. It's still a learning process but I'm really hoping things will be different this time around when my second baby is born. Thanks for all your insight!

Couldnt agree more. This time with number 2 I dont use the milk pump or pre milk, so the amount is allways exact what the baby needs. Also I dont try to take the stroller in winter, I use the carrier. I have an approximately plan for the day and thats it. With lockdown it is hard enough this time. I cant get so much help and the big child is allways at home.

I didn’t suffer from PPD after my first, but these things are still SO important to keep in mind for any new mom. I am about to give birth to my second, so I will have 2 babies under 2!!! And I know that I will need to remind myself to eat. My armpits and others will remind me to shower tho lol🤷‍♀️ I seriously prioritize the shower over eating because you also get like 10 min of alone time in there so it’s a double-duty self-care thing
