Told them about wife's milk allergy months ahead. Once on board, for EVERY meal it seemed to come as a complete surprise to dining room staff. They knew there was lactose free milk available but always weren't 'quite sure' where it was. Usually did find some - about the end of the meal. She eventually gave up.

Thanx Gary, as always. I have some tremors and also balance issues, meaning I fall down a lot. I still bounce pretty good, though. I'm a tough old broad. You mentioned about the possibility of having to use the stairs when the elevators are not operating during emergencies. I knew about the elevators not working under certain conditions, but I hadn't put 2 and 2 together, to realize that I fall into that category of needing assistance using the stairs when I'm on a higher deck. I'm mostly ambulatory, but I like my cabin to be on a higher deck. That's when I use the elevator. I can navigate around when I can use the elevators. Duh! I'll try to remember to advise the cruise folks about my situation. Thanx, Gary. You've come through again.

Screening typically refers to being x-rayed and/or being passed through a metal detector (magnetometer). All checked luggage is x-rayed, including any carry-on luggage as you board the ship. You'll also walk through a metal detector any time you get back on the ship after leaving and any items you bring back from port will be x-rayed as well. Hope that helps!

Don't try to bring a gun aboard from a port of call. Several years ago, a man ahead of us at reboarding was viciously taken down by ship's security. He tried to make a distraction to get past security, didn't make it. Guy bought the gun onshore in Mexico which has strict gun control. Captain turned him over to Mexican authorities. No idea what happened to him afterward, but it couldn't have been good. Guy was an American, but the ship was in a Mexican port, ship was Panama registered, so he was not in the best of legal situations. Just don't do it.
