Watched and listened on Thanksgiving Day in America and felt a deep sadness and guilt concerning the lost opportunity to see in others a common humanness and love each other. Rather than stuffing our stomachs let us fast for change before it is too late, if it is not already

Here is another fact not known by you. Native Americans are people indigenous to the Americas, North Central, and south, not just the United States. They call this continent, Turtle Island, and many don't refer to themselves as any kind of American. They are first nation peoples and prefer to be called by their tribal name.

I call them the feather people, people of earth. Watch the pow-wows how their dancing loves the earth. Drumming, chanting, their dance to and with Mother earth. Now we just sit with the TV, Computer, cell phone. So away from Mother earth's life and love. Blessings.

Yes, please ask an Idigenous person what they call THEiR people. Most of the "tribal" names you mentioned are the federally given names to a group of people who never called themselves those that. Ever😮Worse than denegrating and insulting, the federal government has refused to change/correct them at the request of the tribes who are misnamed and still today are being called those made-up names. Here in British Columbia Canada there are two hundred different nations and around five hundred different dialects were spoken. I come from the Heiltsuk and Nu7lhalk people and I was taught to speak both along with the trade language called Chinook. Then I was taken by the government and put onto a farm in which I was forced to speak english until I aged out at nineteen. Foster care was more like a prisoner of war system. I thought i had lost my languages, but if someone speaks to me in one of my languages when I'm not expecting it i will answer in English. In a few hours I know I'll be gifted a bowie knife and a Tomahawk and I will dance to wake them up. I just pray i still remember the Eagle dance that i learned as a toddler. When I first went to the farm I barely spoke any English, because I had difficulty with the English language, so my grandfather's taught me Heiltsuk, Nu7lhalk and Chinook. I am a high functioning autisti person. Also here in British Columbia if we didn't comply with the English they sent gunboats to put us back in line. British Columbia is unceded.

Im Native I belong to the O'ATHOM and PIIPASH tribe- White man call us pima and Maricopa I was raised in a house that only spoke English I didn't like this cause I felt like I was missing something. Cause a lot of my friends and relatives spoke the language. But, here I was speaking English. I felt so left out almost all my childhood and adolescence life. It was so embarrassing when someone would talk to me in my tribal language. I'd have to tell them that didn't understand them. Some would look at me in disbelief and some would understand it. What made it more difficult was I joined the Mormon church, that had a program called the placement program in which a lot of adolescence natives like me went too white Mormon families too be educated and learn to function in the white man world. It was a good and intriguing program I taught a lot. Really liked this program. I made a lot of good friends. I also found out what it was like to be with a white girl. They were so good and understand too my lack of understanding the white man. So they taught me a lot. If it wasn't for them and the program, I don't think I would be where I'm at today. I'm retired today but before I was an L.P.N Nurse. I have made a lot friend's.. some Nurse's and some patients that I cared for. I often look back upon my life and I don't shade an ounce of regret. I'm 68, today and I had 4 daughters. One of them passed away 6 years ago (Don't think I'll ever get passed that). But I do what I can for myself but a lot times my daughters are always there to help me. God blessed me with them. ❤ As of today I have 11 grandchildren. I love them all ❤😊. Yes, I think you can say God was looking out for me, and still is today. It's a wonderful day today. Those of you who are going through a hard and difficult time, don't give up. Look to your higher power and let them know what your going through and if you have a lot faith believe your prey will be answered but remember he will only answer in his time.

In Georgia, gold was discovered and Indian removal wasn't about growing cotton. The issue Of Indian removal, Indian wars and Indian extermination and forced relocation and confinement on "reservations" was always about Indian land, or how to obtain it illegally. The British in 1769 or so enacted the Land Proclamation Act which prohibited colonists from crossing the Blue Ridge and adjacent mountains onto Indian land. This Act was a major factor in the American Revolution. In 1924 American Indians didn't want US citizenship. They wanted their land and lifestyles, then and now. The genocide of the American Indians, generational trauma and present conditions on reservations contribute greatly to the suicide rates of young Indians. What an ignorance-spreading video.

I am Wyandotte. I was taken to England by English people who raised me. I was educated and thought I was English. The family never accepted me. My teachers were military WW11 British army and Black watch Scotland. I returned to the US in 2003. I look after horses and am now 70 years old. Nothing is easy but horses are my best friends. The Wyandotte are Huron they were allied to the French, the British and Dutch supplied the Mohawk guns to wipe out the Wyandotte and their French Jesuit priests. They were massacred. The British were at war with France and the Mowhawk wanted to take over the lucrative beaver fur trade. The treaty of Wyandotte was signed during the war of independence to use the wyandotte to fight against the British who were kicked out of the United States. All my English so called family are all now deceased. My real ancestors took care of me. ❤

Many Native American tribes hated each other’s guts! They were Mortal Enemies! They committed genocide against each other! The Comanches nearly completely wiped out the Apaches through the genocide they committed against them! And the Lakota Sioux dis the same to the Crow people. Cannibalism was a thing in the America’s long before the Europeans showed up. The Aztecs captured thousands of their fellow Native Americans, ripped their hearts our and tossed them down the stairs of their pyramids to appease their Gods…

@@karenjaques3937 I am Cherokee/Shawnee and my B.A. is in Native American Studies. Hope I didn't hurt your feelings. I can be a little harsh. I know about the Beaver Wars; the Iroquois invaded "Ohio" and ran out the Shawnee, who went South into Cherokee country. The Beaver Wars and many other inter-Tribal wars (not all) were the result of the European Fur Trade. Iroquois hunted beaver and other animals until they were hunted out in their own country. They were given guns, etc. and their lifestyles changed. But other Tribes were always afraid of the Iroquois, who tortured their prisoners.

If the white people would butt their noses out of Native American business each tribe is capable of making a difference within their tribe. But sadly some tribes will never be restored and it wasn’t all caused by one tribes warfare against another, but the TOTAL annihilation of tribes by the European settlers. A lot of “atrocities” blamed on the Indians were actually introduced by WHITES.

No you aren’t interested in “real” history you are interested only in the past hatreds and atrocities that could possibly cause sad feelings and an insurgence of possible hostile feelings. Even Native Americans have the right to grow change.

But they have a right to know their history just like any body else. Yes it is sad, and it is emotional but it also tells you who you are, where your people came from, how your people survived all these atrocities. It give you your cultural identity and heritage. Would you tell the Jews or Black people they don’t need to know their history? That’s its too sad for them to hear so they don’t need to know? You must not have a culture or heritage to make this kind of statement. As a Native American, I want to know my history. It makes me who I am and to pass it on to my kids and to tel them to be proud of who they are and how their ancestors survived so we can be here today!

I’m glad I learned about all of this and more….thanks to being friends with my Native American friends, I learned a lot from them and their ancestors. They also accepted me into their families…. I feel akin to them and respect them …. Not everything is cut and dry here, there was a lot more involved than white folks wanting their land for ill gotten wealth….a lot of treaties were broken on both sides, including genocide of various tribes and settlements throughout history….👍❤️🙏🏼🦅🦬🐴🇺🇸

Hmmm…, You didn’t mention the Butchery, the Hatred, the Genocide that many Native American tribes heaped upon each other. Many tribes hated each other’s guts! They were Mortal Enemies! The Comanches committed a horrific genocide against the Apaches and nearly completely wiped them out! Comanche torture tactics were especially brutal, heinous! And the Lakota Sioux did the same to the Crow people! Please do a video on Native American warfare against each other! The Cannibalism, unspeakable torture, genocide etc. We look forward to learning more about REAL History!

@@darlenelang3681 Did I say only the Native Americans had such a violent history? No! Of course not. ZOOM OUT! Look at the Long Arc of History! Homo Sapiens are the most dangerous creature that has ever lived on this Earth. In 3000 years Man has fought 5000 wars! Humans all over the world have always loved slaughtering each other! I get tired of the Super Ultra Politically Correct Crowd proclaiming that the Americas were some sort of paradise of brotherly love where everyone lives in harmony with their fellow Native Americans. That’s just not true. The Native Americans contributed to the extinction of the Wooly Mammoths, much larger Columbian Mammoths, Giant Bison, Giant Sloth, Giant Armadillo, American Lion, and other Magnificent Animals. Imagine seeing an Armadillo with a 6 ft. long shell! The reason you’ve never seen one is because the Native Americans killed them all! And the same with all of the other animals I mentioned. All hunted to extinction long before the Europeans showed up! We have their butchered up bones and many with arrow heads and spear points embedded in their bones!

@@elmabrooks7417 Nice try but it is not racist to point out actual historical facts. It is actual REAL History! Many Native American tribes were MORTAL ENEMIES! Native American Warriors existed for thousands of years before the Europeans arrived. Each tribe needed to have warriors to protect themselves against other Native Americans! This is a simple fact. There’s nothing racist about it. It’s silly to live in a fantasy dream world where you imagine that everything was Peace & Love before the Europeans showed up.

I do not know the origin of this piece, it sounds better than the typical AI production. And, it is true to a large extent. There are some dumb comments attached and some that mean well. There were conflicts between tribes which were instigated by the divide and conquer tactics of the Europeans, and then lied about in order to justify the genocide of the "hostills." And so very many people ARE ignorant of this history.

Why are so many visual presentations of history and archeology so thoroughly irresponsible in their choice of pictures. There is so much available without charge that can match text and make it more meaningful? You did not even bother to show the various types of corn or vegetables nor identified the tribes or actions in the extensive pictures shown.
