The best advice I can give anyone about their wedding is treat it like a party, don’t get so hung up about it because your wedding has zero impact on your marriage positively long term. It’s just one day in a hopefully long life. We did things exactly how we wanted not what was expected, I wore colour because I would’ve hated white, we had no bridal party and just let everyone be a guest, we didn’t go into debt at all with it, we kept the guests to exactly our close family and friends no random new partners we didn’t know or cousins we hadn’t seen in ten years. Remember it’s just one day.

I absolutely love your comment. We did the same at our wedding. Afterwards, a lot of our guests told us it was the most fun wedding they'd ever been to. It was natural, relaxed, and everyone had a great time.

Looking like yourself on your wedding day is SO IMPORTANT. I remember seeing my friend on her wedding day and freaking out because I thought her fiance was marrying another woman-- turned out it was her! She never wore makeup and was wearing dark purple eyeshadow, purple lips and hair extensions. It was wild. It's been 5 years and she still regrets it!

As women who got married years ago, you can’t compare your look now to back then. Styles of everything were different, ESP hair and makeup! Saying if I did it again TODAY is another story entirely! I looked exactly like myself on my wedding day (mostly bc I did it all myself) just elevated a bit. Funny enough, if I did it all again, I’d have the full Monty going on with professional hair and makeup and I’d have so much fun with it!!

Underrated tip: trying out where you get your nails done. I didn’t do anything crazy just a simple solid color for fingers & toes but the lady doing my pedicure sliced my foot open the night before b/c she would leave my callouses alone.

I agree w the cutting of lash strips because although my MUA (he taught for Charlotte Tilbury and he’s now a face designer for Giorgio Armani) did a phenomenal job, the strip did come loose on one eye after an emotional ceremony and thank GOD my friend had lash glue and eyeliner on her, otherwise I was gonna be bothered all day! I look better with a smokey eye so I went that route, but I didn’t use any crazy colors so it ended up looking very natural on me in photos. I also wish I had not switched to a red lip when I changed into my Chinese wedding dress because I have big lips and in the photos all you see are my lips! Also, highly recommend bringing your foundation shade in a compact form because I was sweating so much under the sun during the dragon dance performance my foundation started melting in the center of my face. No matter how long wearing the product says it is, nature will always win! Also my tip: find someone who has a genuine passion for makeup and gets excited just talking about it. I did a post-wedding photo shoot with the same products but with w a makeup person at the mall who I didn’t know and the person didn’t say a word to me and the end result was so terrible I didn’t end up using most of the photos.

Wait what’s this about waterproof mascara being hard on your lashes? I need more info! I have oily skin and almond shaped eyes so they get oily too and no makeup stays on them unless it’s waterproof. Also my lashes are really long so mascara will transfer to both the top and bottom even if it’s waterproof cause of skincare and sunscreen too. But double cleansing washes it all away perfectly and gently yay Susan.
@CJM2792 жыл бұрын
What do you use to double cleanse and get the waterproof mascara off? Cause I really struggle to get it off with makeup-removing oil and end up pulling out eyelashes.
@scoldilox2 жыл бұрын
@@CJM279 i use Clinique take the day off cleansing balm or the cleansing oil. I’ve used many different balms and oils but Clinique is fragrance free, melts down easily, and doesn’t leave a film. Makeup remover has never worked for me and stings my eyes. Watch one of Susan’s videos on how to double cleanse with cleansing balm or oil. Hope you have better luck and don’t have to lose any more lashes! 🧚🏻

@@kaktees $500 sounds "bonkers" if value isn't presented in the price, so I do understand your point of view. My recommendation would be ask yourself if $150 is providing you with peace of mind on your wedding day and then ask yourself how much you value your peace of mind?

I personally love all of you on your wedding day! I think your hair, makeup, accessories and dress were beautiful 😍 my wedding is this summer and I appreciate these tips, although I disagree with some of them. I don't think you should have your hair and makeup as you usually do, unless you really want to. The way I see it is that that's my special day, I don't want to look exactly the way I look every day. Obviously, we don't wear flowers in the hair on a normal day, but why not have an accessory in your hair for a special occasion?! I also don't get the advice of wearing your hair down, if you do that normally. Again, that's not a normal day, that's your special day, a lot of women want to look a bit different. Also it really depends on the climate. My wedding is in August, I would definitely avoid having my hair down in that kind of heat.
