I think New Riff is the most slept on bourbon on the market rn. Single barrels are fantastic. Also, Jim Beam Single Barrel 108 proof is incredible, and might be the most undervalued bourbon I have, and I'm really not a fan of other JB products.

Another great value that is “relatively” easy to find is the Knob Creek Single Barrel (barrel select or a store pick) 9 yr, 120 proof $50-60. Totally agree with all the others. Love the Bardstown whiskeys! Even the Fusion #4 is a good; the youth is hidden much better than #3.

The Dickel vitamin note isn’t orange, it’s just gross. I’ve bought multiple 14 and 15 year bottles that were sourced from Dickel and it’s always there to me. I think some people must just be more sensitive to it.

Just picked up Rebel & Ezra Brooks Distillers Collection store picks for $40 a piece. Wish I could have gotten them for 35$ but still can't complain for the proof and single barrel. I've seen a ton of Knob Creek Bourbon/Rye store picks that are also worth the $50 price tag. Don't sleep on Dickel 9 year store picks either. Was able to pick one up for $36 I rather enjoy.

The Redemption high-rye bourbon single barrel store pick I have now is amazing. I've also got a Russell's single barrel store pick that I'm now more jazzed about thanks to this video. I'm leery of the Four Roses recommendation, though. I have only had the small batch, but it way underperformed (for me) against its pricepoint. It's fun on the nose but mediocre on the palate. I'll try the Small Batch Select before I go for a single barrel or a single barrel store pick.

Great video. I really appreciate discussions of juice that I have at least a reasonable chance of buying. Drew, please keep that in mind as your channel grows. We've all seen other channels start focusing on unavailable juice as their numbers grow (and their success opens doors that their viewers have no expectation of entering). Availability definitely varies around the country. For example, in SoCal, Eagle Rare is generally available, usually between $32 and $39. It sells fast, but gets refilled quickly. I bought a bottle at Target for $32, and is is usually at the local supermarkets. However, Master's Keep offerings have now all but disappeared. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof & Larceny Barrel Proof offerings also disappear very quickly (or only ridiculous mark-ups remain).

Finding Eagle Rare around L.A. is pretty easy. It goes fast, but supplies are replenished within a few weeks. Same with Buffalo Trace. Finding anything else from Buffalo Trace except F'in' Blanton's (@$100+) is highly allocated and marked up 300-500%.

Great video , next time please post some bourbons/ ryes that are not chill filter bottled and has natural flavour as we consumers like it . Little water for dilution is OK . but chill filtration really sucks . Many distilleries do not mention chill filter / non chill filter on bottle’s label but its really important for consumers to know what they are getting .

Only tried Derringer and the standard rye. Derringer smells/tastes a little too funky (like borderline mildew). Rye was fine but there's a ton of ryes that will outcompete it in price and taste.

Several years ago I read a research article online about the different types of hard liquors, and what they came up with was that the only hard liquors that are good for you are cognac and brandy (i.e. genuine brandy, not the sickeningly sweet cheap choke-ass sold in American beer stores and labeled 'Brandy') because they're made from distilled wine and therefore contain some antioxidants and fruit residues that are good for you. They also said that hard liquors made from distilled beers (i.e. beers made from various grains) are bad for you, and that bourbon is the worst. Generally speaking cognac is made from distilled white wine and brandy is made from distilled red wine. Tequila is a type of cognac because it's made from distilled agave wine. Rum is also a type of cognac because it's made from distilled sugar cane wine. Genuine vodka is a type of cognac because it's made from distilled potato wine. So Tequila, Rum, and real Vodka are somewhat good for you.

I see a lot of these bourbons on the shelves here in Australia. Eagle Rare is super plentiful at my local liquor store. Us Aussies just drink the shit. We don’t collect it. Housos drink bourbon here. We mix it with coke. Very few people will pay much at all for it. Beam and Jack rule the roost here. All that fancy stuff just sits on the shelf for years.

For L.A. area: Bardstown non-Fusion is almost nonexistent/$130+. Worth $130 if you can for series 3 or 4, collaboration bottles. Dickel 15? Zero seen that's above mid-80s proof. 11-year single.barrell BIB available but bitter woody as heck. Maker's Mark FAE-01 available but love it or hate it. Its availability is indicative of its polarization. Wheaters are take it or leave it for many. Master's Keep? Supply dried up in less than a day last year. Russell's Reserve SB is available but Store Picks? Haven't seen any around. I've only seen one Four Roses non-standard bottle once over 1 1/2 years - OSBE for $85? Eagle Rare is easy to find. Local bottle shop has Barrel Picks at least twice a year. Kentucky Owl non-Confiscated is $190-350. You decide if Russian mafia juice is worth it. Belle Meade can be found. $65-75. Grab Rare Breed, Elijah Craig BP, Stellum or Henry McKenna for $50-70. Save your bigger dollar purchases for Bardstown, Doc Swinson Exploratory, Calumet 15 or Four Roses Special Releases if you're lucky.
