Oussama seems quirky and artsy. Debbie is the same. I can honestly see why these two enjoy each other. I understand her son because it's not out of the ordinary. I don't get creepy vibes from Oussama so I don't believe he'll harm Debbie physically but it's her heart that might be jeopardized when all is said and done. They are in different stages in their life but that doesn't mean it's impossible for them to be what they can to each other. I gave up a long time ago trying to understand why people choose who they love. Life isn't comprised into neat little packages. It can get messy and strange but they are adults. Artists with mental health issues: Vincent van Gogh, Sylvia Plath, Edvard Munch, Virginia Woolf, Charles Dickens, Frida Kahlo, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Francisco Goya, Louis Wain, Jane Avril, Yayoi Kusama, Georgia O'Keefe, Paul Gauguin, Joan Miro, Edgar Degas, and the list goes on and on. Mental illness can affect anyone, and artists have a better opportunity to work through their issues by their creative output. It doesn't make the person any more dangerous to others, but can affect their behavior towards themselves. To say that because someone is drawn to the representation of those darker mental states in their artwork is a "red flag" misrepresents mental illness, and portrays it as inherently dangerous to the community. Those suffering from mental illness are much more likely to be victims of violence than bring it to others. This prejudice does not help anyone.
