So much amazing subtle humor in this, haha. I agree, the only thing I ever missed since I got into minimalism 5 years ago is some clothing, so I'm just less strict in that area. But everything else...it feels so good to simplify! I think minimalism definitely looks different for everyone, I don't believe in the "only white walls, two shirts, zero decorations" trendy-stereotype version.

It’s only a “trend” if the person doing it isn’t planning on making it a lifestyle. Trends are short lived, but if you don’t try it, you’ll never know how it will impact your life (positive or negative).
@theinfinitespin5 жыл бұрын
I don't really care for the actual labels of "minimalist" and that sort of thing either. People have been doing it for years without the "official" title. I find it so weird that we feel the need to compartmentalize and label EVERYTHING now. Having said that, awesome video as usual and even if you don't think you made a "funny" video, you still got a few laughs out of me, so thanks for that! Cheers!

Labelling things helps with communicating ideas
@theinfinitespin5 жыл бұрын
@@quianateague5860 I can definitely understand and support the notion using labels to create better communications and understanding. I think there's also a case to be made for not wanting to be identified with certain groups and keeping a more individual attitude about your lifestyles. Having said that, I really do think that's a great way of looking at it though, thanks for the response!
@quianateague58605 жыл бұрын
@@theinfinitespin I think ideally there should be a balance. You could say you are identified with this rather group than this group but you still have your unique spin on it. The issue here is that people hear the label before they take note of your individual approach. Hence why my idea of a "balance" is idealistic haha

Best thing about minimalism to me is number 3. The ability to know right away if you need something or if it is just junk that will fill up and clutter your home! This is a SKILL my friends and you can get really good at it 100% 👍

The only thing I dislike about the current trendiness of minimalism is the possibility of people dropping it once they don’t think it’s cool anymore. Otherwise, I think it has the potential to be a really healthy trend that could help undo a lot of the environmental and societal damage that consumerism and greed has done to our world, and I hope that more people continue to practice minimalism and stick with it, not just as a cool trend but for the long haul. The benefits (both personal and global) are truly incredible.

I became a “minimalist” many years ago because trendiness turns me off. Now minimalism is trendy? Fuck. Well...it’s good for the environment, so let’s keep that trend going. But it also keeps my head clear af, it’s cost effective, it inherently encourages me to feel gratitude and sustained value for the things I DO allow in my life, and I also allow myself to spend more on HIGH quality things, because I have less of them. PS it’s all about Essentialism now, anyways 💅🏼
